Yea exactly that. He talks about the weight of the burdens he always has carried so it’s a nice little nod to that and exactly what you said. His burdens make him stronger. But it’s also him making himself stronger to be able to cope and deal with it all better
He wrote this for a Rolling stone article that blasted the search album. "Lost" was supposed to be the next release but because of Covid it was delayed a year.

When he released The Search it charted higher then Chance the Rappers album and Rolling Stone put out an article saying all his music was self absorbed and gloomy (basically trashing him). This was his response to that. The black smile was his response to people saying he was getting rich and famous off of music so he should be happy......So he paints a smile on his face for them.
His use of imagery has always been unmatched as a black smile is in essence a fake smile. White being a colour of kinda happiness, hope and purity. Where this black smile he uses is a mask to cover how he’s feeling personally as well

Through showing everyone, therefore also admitting them to himself in the process (looses it's power) the most painful experiences and secrets, to battling them through fear, anger, depression. Then to excepting his them (loving ALL parts of himself, the dark and the light. To finally being able to open that door of the power of choice. Nate has broken it all down in the many movies (giving us the visionals, not just the song/lyrics). The big majority of us keep ours stuff deep down so this comes out in our most stuff away. This comes our everyday actions/thoughts/mannerisms. Whether it's by blaming society, people, things anyone but ourselves to play the victim, or by trying to fill that emptiness you have (not understanding why we can't just be "happy" or with all the material things, drugs/alcohol, sleeping around, feeding the ego so know one gets to see the real you. Yep! This is how it's done folks. Not easy, not a fast process, but you warrior through it for an amazing purpose (passing the torch) and for the beautiful connection (giving back to others by showing them they have the power of choice and it can be done).✌❤🌏⚖🙏

It’s funny seeing this because paid my dues should really be listened to after his search album. Also seeing ad before being half way in the journey and he will start to connect the dots from perception
He is amazing! I thought.. there is no way that he can rap that fast live without taking a breath. I was right. When I saw him in concert last September he plays the track and his drummer plays the drums along with him. He breathes inbetween so many words and the words that he misses while he takes a breath the track is going along with him so that it all sounds like one breath. Does that make sense? Lol That's the only way I can explain it. He is definitely not lip synching or anything like that. He just has that track in the background to keep it all together. You missed the meaning of some things because you didn't go in order from the beginning, which is why we die hard NF fans say to go in order. Either way you'll put it all together. So, he released the album The Search and this was the firat song he released as a single after that album. So "Found" is most likely a foreshadowing for a future album

A little bit of history behind his coming out finally musically..(I dove into it in 2016 so can’t remember exactly everything) but he was making musics and putting it out there for quite a few years and no one would pick him up…everyone just called him that Nate guy who copies Em…Nate couldn’t catch a break anywhere…. So eventually a Christian record label signed him and and then out he came blowing all our minds…♥️♥️ and I’m pretty sure he’s probably close to being done with his contract with them, where he had to watch what he said etc and is starting to come out a lil more with what the Christian label would consider bad…. So yea along with his actual struggles in real life, his mom, and then facing an industry that didn’t want him, etc etc soo, hopefully this mini backstory can help some of ya see a lil bit what’s going on behind the scenes and coming in thru his music

Yeah the article Rolling Stones wrote was because the writer was a chance the rapper fan and nfs search album came out the same week as chances did I guess, and nf beat him out on sales and the writer got Butt hurt about it and put out an article about him without really knowing what he was about and what his music was about
