She handled it like a champ. I'm very proud of her. I got the call when my son joined the Marines, and let me tell you, All I heard was his name lol. The rest was other recruits yell along with the Drill Instructors. It was like I received a phone call from hell.
@@pep590 yes, his recruiter told us prior to his ship out day that he was going to be given a phone call. The Drill instructor are told they only need to be able to say the names clearly enough. The best part of the phone call at the end was at around the 2:00 mark where just over the DI's shoulder closest to the camera you can see a marine smiling in the doorway lol. Showing that they 100% planned to do this to the last recruit left standing at the phone booths and giving their parents/guardians a phone call they'll never forget. Glad to see the tradition of Drill Instructors, Drill Sergeants, Military Training Instructors, and Recruit Division Commanders playing jokes on their recruits is still going strong.
Oh god.... thee memories this brings back. I remember getting my first "Real" call home and my mom sobbing her eyes out. She said she was so scared for me when I called yelling at her. She knows now that ALL Marines recruited have to do this very same thing. For the longest time she thought it was only me. I am glad I have such a loving and protective mom, but now it's time for me to love and protect, and I will now and always do just that.

hahaha my mom was weirded our by my phone call from army basic training. she would’ve been freaked out by this one, but at least she wouldn’t have had any doubt that i wasn’t kidnapped, with those DSs in the background
My mom would freaked out and confused if that happens. At least the phone call on day 0 at army basic training doesn't involve drill sergeant yelling at your face
@Daniel Lapusso its the drill instructor’s job to yell. Also, if you even lay a single finger on a drill instructor, they would either kick the shit out of you, or you would be kicked out of boot camp…or both.
I’m an about to be recruit for the Navy and I was a little scared at first after seeing the “Making a sailor” documentary. My friends that went through boot camp, told me that the first 2 weeks is usually the most stressful because of the processing and shit. The rest of the boot camp (as long as you’re listening) is simple. So I’m not as anxious anymore.
My brother called today and this is exactly what he sounded like. It was such chaos. I felt so sorry for him. But I understand they’re preparing him to work under stress
my brother just called us home and he was actually able to speak camly for like 20 second before he had to yell out the script. Ill be seeing him in October 2019

I wouldn't know who to listen to. I can't hear when everyone is yelling at the same time. 😆 But now I know why my son didn't call me when he got to boot camp.
Waiting for my call in the next 24 hours from my son. He said he wanted to call his GF. Nope, that's my call and to be honest, I don't think his GF could handle what's going on on the other end. Lol
From my experience it depends on if they in a good mood or not most times they aren’t but at the end of the day they will at times try to be funny with you at least it will let you know they are human under their cover but just know everything they say and do is not personal it’s just to prepare young marines like me for success at the end of the day when they see you walk across the parade deck like I did at the end of it all and you finally get to take pics with them and maybe if you lucky you run into them in the fleet and you guys are sharing a beer talking about each others experiences that’s what’s worth it the most.
As a CNA though this was me as work. However I was called worse. I had to just take it . Oh and then they had a BM and said . You C$&t clean me up. It’s your job.
