    After-video insert 1: To the people who keep saying Chong Yue has poor damage, or that Chong Yue takes too long to set up, you all really don't want to make the game easier for yourself to experience the literal monster damage that Chong Yue offers that is higher than the likes of Thorns, Blaze, Mountain, Mudrock. It's almost as if you never gave the video a minute to watch. It's literally faster to activate Chong Yue's infinite skill than it is to activate Thorns, why are you all whining. And also, about adding a medic, or a healing defender to assist Chong Yue, I really don't understand why are people emphasizing that it's a bad thing when you more often add a multi-target medic or other damage dealers even if you were just using a Mountain. There are way too many skill issue comments for this video alone.
    After-video insert 2: I’m very surprised by the number of people who seems upset about the comparison being central to the video. This question is probably the most asked amongst all operators, and the reason why I also approached it was because of how Chong Yue is a rather dismissed operator as compared to Mountain.
    While yes Arknights is a game where you do not need to compare and say which operator is better due to different stages letting different operators shine, there isn’t much harm to tell people who desperately wants quick answers on who is better. In this case, to quantify ‘better’, what metrics are we to use? Is it ease of use, power, types of enemies they can kill? It’s not exactly easy because player to player seek different wants, but actually more often people don’t have such wants because the larger player base is just casual players. Hence, the best way to then describe better is how many more stages does an operator find use than another operator.
    Chong Yue overall is visibly a better stage simplifier than Mountain. This doesn’t mean that Mountain is bad, Mountain is a stellar unit on the ranks of Mudrock, Thorns, Blaze, etc. But Chong Yue simply has skill sets that makes him more powerful (if not too powerful). I’m not a fan of comparing units myself as I use every unit in the game, but making such videos is for me to offer those who wants to hear from the experiences I had.

      Those weirdos who think "comparison" videos are bad thinks it's somehow "toxic" to evaluate and compare objective facts about the game. Because they poured resources and time to a character. And they are salty. It's fine to compare which is faster/stronger/which is better for a certain stage. That's why tier lists exist. Bosskilling, lane holding, healing whatever, every branch/class has the best and way better than others at what they do.

    I'm gonna be real, I never understood why people compared them outside of them having the same class. Mountain is a lane holder with a skill that lets you drop and forget him. The point of comparing operators is precisely to know what what they can do, which is easier when using another unit as reference. That they are both of the same class and subclass is a valid starting point form where to compare 2 units, and then see where do they diverge and in which circumstances they perform at their best. I know discussions such as this tend to invite toxic behavior, but they are not fundamentally wrong. I hate how such a large portion of the community is so deathly allergic to comparisons.

    Two reasons I prefer Chongyue over Mountain:
    - he has longer range with skill S3, which makes him really good with Stainless' S3; to begin with turrets help to charge it but once you are done with it: retreat, redeploy and now he has double the range, AoE damage and it charges really fast
    - you can place him behind a defender or some other unit that will keep enemies in place, which solves his block 1 issue (and if said unit is healing defender also matter of healing) and you can still do turret shenanigans

    Mountain is a very strong and simple solo lane holder.

    My rule of thumb is that Mountain works better as a laneholder while Chongyue works better as the damage dealer.
    Mountain can be placed anywhere to lane hold alone and will work fine.
    Chongyue will need some help of a blocker in front or behind and a healer (best option is Skalter). To compensate for needing more ops he basically deals so much damage to so many lanes that he can clear mobs very easily and fast.

    Nice video, personally i do like the approach of using mountain as a comparison, Comparison is a good way to emphasize something in a wider context, and not in a vacuum of the only things he's good at, since you managed to hit the good and bad of each operators, it is a pretty fair comparison people are upset because there's a trigger word "better" and once they hear it, the rest of the video is just ignored
    the thing i find that's out of place is chongyue skill 1 segment, with the amount of buffs he got, his normal attack is already killing the boss so it kinda diminishes the potential of the skill, and also this is a pretty extreme example, including team buffers and precharged skill, it doesnt really show its practicality

    would m2 on his s3 better than m3, cuz talent 1 only activates with normal attack, getting 20% more normal attack before skill mean more likely talent 1 will activate, and 65% multiplier is multiplied after the skill multiplier, so it's 350% x 1.65 = 577%,(a lot of people mistakes this for +65% when like I said it multiplies with his skill) of his attack compared to s3 which is only 380%, so in short, less 380% for a chance to get more 577% mixed in with 350%

    No, Chong Yue is not better than Mountain.
    - Mountain Simp
    I will say Chong Yue is much more versatile in terms of usage though because he occupies more varied niches. He can attack with more range, have explosive damage multipliers, and help with multiple lanes, but his block count and lack of sustain is still a decisive factor in separating the two based on niche. Mountain can block one lane with his S2 but can hold it well as long as his block count holds up due to self sustain. Both have their own unique advantages by opening up different operator compositions.
    If you want someone only for their DPS, Chong Yue is better because that's his design.
    If you want someone who can handle a single lane without much assistance at low DP Cost to focus your problems elsewhere, then Mountain is the way to go.
    One is not better than the other because they occupy different niches.

    Here's the truth: Chong just doesn't fill any particular niche that isn't already filled by a better operator.
    His S3 takes far too long to charge, meaning you'll need at least one other lane holder to stall while it charges because he only has _one_ block stack and his lack of sustain means he'll need at least one healer. You can't helidrop him, he can't hold lane by himself, ranged enemies doo doo all over him, and if he dies you end up back at square one. Once his S3 is fully charged, he's... okay. Still can't hit ranged enemies, still can't heal himself, and still can't hold lane against big hordes or elites.
    Honestly? He's just a worse Saga. In fact, pretty much all the six star Vanguards outclass him in terms of dps and lane holding.
    Look, I get it. I'm not shaming anyone for using him - I think this community is one of the best in terms of embracing fun over "perfect optimized gameplay." But if there's any new players watching this video thinking Chong is a good lane holder, I'm sorry to say that he's really not. Like, at all. He's fun to use, for sure, especially if you have buffers like Skalter or Warfarin, or an SP battery to plant behind him like Liskarm - but that's the thing. He _cannot_ be deployed by himself. And the comparison between him and Mountain is just frankly ridiculous.
    In conclusion, he's a super fun B tier operator, in the same league as Ops like Bibeak, Cutter, or Astesia. If you're already confident you can beat a stage _without_ him, then he's an entertaining addition to the squad. But if you're struggling with stages and are in need of a good, beefy solo lane holder, then save your rolls for Mountain. Easily one of the best ops in the game and by far an all-around better operator than Chong.

    • @jtdarelli2362
      @jtdarelli2362 Před rokem +1

      @@kukkikaze Maybe I came across too critical. Sorry if I sounded like an asshole.
      All I meant was that, in my experience thus far, Chong isn't an S-tier operator like Mountain or Thorns. His kit makes him viable in unique situations, but his slightly higher damage output doesn't make up for his incredible lack of utility. He fits very rare niche, but otherwise is a handicap in the more difficult stages.
      He's not _bad._ But if you can only have one 6 star, you're gonna get a whole lot more use out of Mountain or Thorns than you will Chong.

      @jtdarelli2362 Před rokem +1

      @@botcchidotcchi No reason to get upset. I watched the video - I just don't agree with all his points. Obviously Mountain can't do everything, no operator can (not even Ling), but if you have to pick one or the other, then I think Mountain is easily more worth the money.
      If you can have both - Great! They're both super fun to use. But if you're free to play and have a limited amount of rolls and are in desperate need of a high tier operator, then I can't in good faith recommend Chong Yue over Mountain (or several other guards/defenders for that matter).
