Eastbourne Classic Bus Running Day 2023
After an absence of 4 years Eastbourne Running Day makes a welcome return. The last event was held in 2019 and a combination of the pandemic and ongoing works at Eastbourne Station has meant that we've had to take a break.
This year, we return to the imposing surroundings of Eastbourne Station thanks to our host, Southern Railways.
This year is the 120th anniversary since the formation of Eastbourne Corporation, the first municipal motor bus operation in the world. We hope to at least mark the occasion at the running day.
Eastbourne has a unique place in the history of public transport. In 1903 it was empowered by Parliament through the Eastbourne Corporation Act to own and operate motor buses within and 1 mile beyond the borough boundary.
