At 25:05, he took no damage from the double edge sworb despite refreshing the board because he was blinded by 99. I think that's a really funny interaction.

When I realized that interaction it blew my mind as it had so 'much' effects on the fight that without the ballanx it would have significantly changed the outcome
Its not because of the blind but because at lvl 2 and 3, double edged sworb deals 1 damage per peg, *without* counting the first 5 pegs. And since master pegger Tyler hit 3 pegs or smt after that very late refresh, no pegs were counted.

Molten mantle is beyond cracked. It's the main reason this run was way easier than it should've been
The higher level cruciballs offer a pretty good challenge as is, though admittedly the grind to reach them is a bit slow

25:05 If you listen closely, the "Attack miss" sound played, and Double-Edged Sworb didn't do any damage. That's because during that fight, he had Blind 99.
And because he had Blind 99, any self-damage had a 99% chance to miss. And the self-damage from Double-Edged Sworb did just that.
The problem with this theory is two fold: A) Self damage is unnaffected by Blind as it is no attack, just damage dealt, and B) what you are referencing is not true Blind. He would almost not be able to deal damage with that much and yet Every projectile he shot hit, and he would not have a Shroud blocking non-projectile attacks from working if it was Blind. It is a seperate sort of "in darkness" effect that simply has an infinite duration, and was made back when Blind was a static miss chance with limited duration, and the game was several layers more archaic and stupid than it is now. The room effect just hasn't really been "broke broke" yet so the lone indie dev just hasn't had a good reason to go back and remove the discrepency in debuff icons, especially while they still need(ed) to fix outright broken parts of the game so it works right.
There is also the fact, note just purported by others and im just acting as Messenger, several other sources like Sock Puppet play the same sound effect as a Miss when they trigger, so the sound effect is more accurately a "This source of damage dealt 0 damage!" And not a "This Attack Missed due to Blind!" Sound effect, which is a Major discrepency in auditory clarity if not clarified either way, due to the sheer difference in meaning between the two. I can kinda hear it when you whiff a shot too, if you tune out the high pitch plop of the orb hitting the ground, so i believe the former more than the latter is the true case; but that could just be my brain tricking me and i have no clear idea at this point what that sound actually signifies. So ugh yeah this game is a lot more pedantic than it seems on the surface, and im already walking away from the conversation due to the headache its given me now processing all this myself.
I think what happened when you got “hit” for 0 was that the self damage “missed” due to the blind that you had. So It counted as a hit on you but it never did any damage so the last damage source was 0

I think when you fired the double-edged sworb, it refreshed either five or six pegs, meaning your self damage was 0 or 1. If it was the latter value, gardeners glove may round down to 0. So you would have taken damage, but it was zero.
Finally more pegging showing your true power
i think the 0 damage source was the double edge sworb restoring less than 5 pegs so it reduced it to 0 damage.

@@m4rcyonstation93 Nah, he got hit for 4 self damage to his ballwark and got 4 damage for the purpose of Countorb gaining damage earlier in the video, it is by far most likely DE Sworb dealing exwctly 0 self damage that caused the interaction.
Double edge sworb straight up missed due to blind, in theory. We heard the miss sound effect when it came, anyways.
@@caseyycaseyy1 He wasnt Blind in the way that gave a chance to miss, thats not what the room effect does. That is literally not possible, given his only debuff was the permanent Shroud effect blocking non-projectiles from functioning after the weather vane died in that fight.
The intro highlights a missed opportunity for an orb, the Ring Kong
"When drawn, refreshes the board and deals 1 self-damage per refreshed peg." The way that is worded, it could mean that the self-damage only happens when drawing the orb, but it could just as well mean that these are two entirely separate effects. Based on what the orb actually does, it seems they are two separate effects. Perhaps it could be more clear, but I'm not sure the best way to word it.
To make it two independent effects, it would need to be a seperate sentence instead of a conjunction.
The way it is worded means self-damage happens only on draw. It damaging on refresh hit is either an oversight, a bug, or (unlikely imho) it's written wrong.
On the last elite of act 2 he did hit a refresh and didn't get hit self-damage so I think is really a bug

- AND (this is seperate from the when drawn statement) deals {Amount} self Damage per refreshed peg (this also counts for refresh pegs)

It could also be from the enemy attacking but it getting blocked by the ballwark

@@electromika Countorb attack does count ballwark loss as damage. It was absolutely the Double-edged Sworb. The amount of pegs it refreshed on draw was nonzero, so it did hit, but due to the "X-5" property on the damage inflicted, it didn't refresh enough pegs to hurt, therefore counting as a source of 0 damage.
@@JackNHoffa I thought that the orb did no self damage because of the blind that was applied to the peglin during that fight. You can here the sound effect when an attack misses due to blindness when the double edged sworb goes off
@@willj3402 The "Attack missed" sound was also played previously in the video when the Double-edged Sworb refreshed fewer than 5 pegs. It also gets played when an attack hits but it's damage gets blocked (sock puppet, buckler). So it's actually more of an "you took no damage from the attack" sound rather than "Attack missed".

I think the reason the countorb was a 0/9 was because when you draw the double edged sword it does self damage based on how many pegs you refresh minus 5 but since you refreshed less than five it did "4 self damage-5" and counted that
"I'll upgrade... the sphear" somehow reminded me of "That's right, it goes in the square hole!"

Countorbstrike combined with double edged sworb seem like the biggest combo currently in the game
I think the Double-Edged Sworb works as intended but is just worded badly. It's (When drawn, refreshes the board) and (deals 1 self-damage per refreshed peg). Two separate effects with masochistic synergy.
I think it calculates the damage for countorb attack by recording the damage to your health when you get injured because the last attack that hit you was completely negated by Balwark and dealt no damage to your health, it registered as you taking damage equal to zero.
25:25, the "0 damage" seemed to be from an enemy that missed an attack? Heard the sound effect for that moments earlier.
i believe it to be from the double egded sworb. as it deals damage equal to pegs restored -10. less than 10 pegs restored and it deals 0 damage.

That could make sense then. The game might deal "damage" to the player, but plays the miss sound if the damage dealt is 0 or rounded up to 0. This is a bit of a stretch though.
Alternatively, it could just be that he had 99 blind as others noticed, so it WAS actually a miss and registered as a 0 damage instance.
Since either way it was still "dealt" to the player though, it makes sense that the Countorb has a 0 damage instance as the most recent one.
Either an oversight, or a wacky interaction with Blind.
25:24 I think I figured out what happened here. At 25:02 you got a refresh right before double-edged sworb and if you look at the ballwark it doesn't go down when the double-edged sworb is drawn meaning that the -5 led to 0 damage being done. The zero damage still counted but that's not the only weird thing that happened here because the double-edged sworb interaction with countorb attacked is even weirder. The last source of damage that was taken was at 24:39 and was 5 from an enemy but the countorb attack crit damage was 9 meaning that it was calculating 3*(5+(-2)) meaning that the double-edged sworb damage was dealing -2 damage but counting negative damage as 0 instead of the really weird possibility of it healing you (which it did not do).

I have an orb idea, Velocitau. It would work by it adding it’s speed times 2 when exiting the board to the orbs final damage. So it’s level one damage calculation would be dmg+x where x is the speed when exiting the pegboard times 2.
Upgrading it would increase its peg damage and the multiplier applied to the speed.
Hope that made sense, but probably not

Double edge missed self damage because peglin had blindness, wich made counter attack orb do 0 on non crit since last damage taken was 0. Damn that is some spaghetti code shit, not even saying that refreshing with doub edge hurts even tho its def no supposed to.

The durable gift is actually cracked with forbtification, because it can be hit 3 times, each peg give more progress to be fortified and give ballwark

I think he plays a bunch of one game in a single session, then spreads out the content between his other series.
He usually likes to keep a large backlog of videos so if he can't record he can keep up his daily uploads. You can also see that the floor 3 shop has the pre-nerf broccoli so yeah this video was recorded a while ago

The double edged sworb isn’t bugged. It says in the description that for every orb refreshed you lose health. It doesn’t specify anywhere that this only happens when you first equip the orb.

At 15:33, I counted the pegs and I'm lie 99% certain that the gardening gloves do not affect the self damage from the double-edged sworb. Odd that that's not considered self damage from orbs. I guess gardening gloves only affect self damage cause by orbs when they're thrown, like the arcentuate and infernorb?
I counted again at 18:20 and verified, indeed, gardening gloves don't affect double-edged sworb self damage.

i think i see why you took 17 damage from double edged sword early in the run, note the "deals 1 self-damager per refreshed (normal pegs) -5" so maybe its just refreshing using double edged in general
I figured out the countorb attack 'bug' (not sure about the double edge sworb though)
Step 1: Gain Ballwark
Step 2: Take damage *less* than the number of Ballwark you have
Step 3: Ballwark *prevents* damage taken ...
You take 0 damage from an attack and lose that much Ballwark *instead* - this means that it is possible with sufficient Ballwark to have a 0/0 countorb attack even after 'taking damage' ... effectively Ballwark is an anti-synergy with countorb attack
This orb scares me. I never wanna take it.

I think the blind 99 or something had you miss your double sided blade thing so you took 0 damage.
The enemies attack also count as last source ò damage too. It is 0 cus it didn't damager you because of the ballwalk
