BMW INPA NCS Expert WinKFP Tool32 Windows 10 Install

  • How to Install BMW Tools including INPA, NCS Exper, WinKFP, Tool32 and more using BimmerGeeks Standard Tools & K+D CAN Cable on a Windows 10 Laptop. Installation Instructions:
    1. Login to your laptop using an Administrator account
    2. Open a browser, search for "bimmergeeks download" on google and click the first link, then click "standard tools".
    3. Download the BG Standard tools 7zip file, then download 7zip 64 bit and unzip the files.
    4. Right click "St212.exe", select "Properties", then click the "Compatability" tab and select "Run in compatibility mode" under the section box below make sure it says for Windows 7 and click ok.
    5. Run "st212.exe" Using all default settings except the 4 checkbox options in the "select additional task" window regarding "backup and restore" and "create desktop/quick launch icons" .
    6. After install completes, select "No, I will restart later" to restarting PC.
    7. Navigate to your C:\ drive and delete the folders labeled "EC-APPS, EDIABAS & NCSEXPER"
    8. Replace those folders with the "EC-APPS, EDIABAS & NCSEXPER" from this download by copying them to the C:\ drive.
    9. Copy the 3 files inside the OCX folder and paste them in the C:\Windows\Syswow64 folder.
    10. Open Command Prompt as administrator & enter the following commands exactly as written below:
    cd c:\windows\syswow64
    (Press Enter)
    regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx
    (Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)
    regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx
    (Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)
    regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx
    (Press Enter & wait for "Registration Succeeded" message)
    11. Place the "BMW Tools" folder(BMW icon) on your desktop. Shortcuts to all the software are inside.
    12. Make sure your cable is set to COM-1 with a Latency Timer as 1 in device manager.
    13. Reboot Computer.
    14. Login again and open BMW Tools and you are ready to start using the programs.

    Massive props to you for making this! First timer with INPA, diagnosing a misfire/injector issue that only happens when vehicle is warm. Just replaced all ignition coils with Eldor so I know it's not that. Car starts normally too. Only starts hesitating when warm and under load. So this is a major help!

    110% the best friggin video for this, everybody else that I've tried to follow was so discombobulated that I couldn't get anything to work.
    Step by step instructions were super clear, I got it working in like 15 minutes where the past two nights I couldn't get the bloody thing to work.

    Holy cow, great vid, thank you!
    I can't believe how many unhelpful turds on the forums say this stuff is "straight forward" to install and get all rude when people ask installation questions. It is doable, obviously, but downloading from a somewhat obscure site, installing in root of C: drive, deleting and copying directories, changing com ports, and doing anything in an admin command shell, is pretty much the opposite of :straight forward." Thanks again, can't wait to get my cable and spend a little time with my new e46.

    Thank you very much for making this video in a way that simple & easy to understand. I have a 2007 BMW 328i & I’m trying to work on it myself after my 2016 VW Passat was totaled. However , after I let it sit for abt 6 months, with no battery power, the steering column locked up & I was told to get the cable, software & use my laptop to unlock it just to get the engine to turnover. (Push to start).
    If you have any important advice besides o not brick my Bimmer, I’d appreciate it! Again thanks for the video, you’re awesome!!!

    hopefully you're still on here. i installed this on my windows 10 laptop. install went flawlessly, but the problem i'm having now is that inpa will detect the cable, but says ignition is off even if the ignition is on or if the car is turned on.

    Hokey CRAP! No one ever said anything in the whole set up when I've tried it the &898 thousand time before about running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Which makes sense because why would anyone make a version that actually just loads into the world largest windows version?? LOL. Anyway thank you very much for this video!

    Hello I installed everything as instructed but for some reason I can’t edit the settings in the INPA cable any hints? It hasn’t installed the driver on my computer but my computer is fully up to date

    EXCELLENT. {NOTHING MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID ABOUT THIS VIDEO but the BimmerGeek version does have issues with E53 X5 and libraries may be damaged. I have not had time to verify this statement. Will update when I have a solution or proof.)

    New to this. All I want to do is cycle the ABS pump to do a complete brake fluid flush. I think I can basically bleed the brakes then do again while cycling the ABS pump. I have an e92 M3. Will this software work for that?

      You might need ISTA-P for programming the ecu, or the BimmerGeeks protool may be able to.

    I've used this once to code injectors MSD80/1, tried it again and all im seeing is idle speeds under injector flow. Maybe disconnect the battery?

    I've run into an issue though. my INPA seems to be in German?! Is there a way to switch to English? Installation and set up went like a charm, and the software does connect to the car, but i can't really do much since i cant tell what the options are. trying to bleed the brakes on my e90.

      This free version is in German. Use Google translate otherwise you can always pay for the BimmerGeeks ProTool.

    Do these tools work better under windows 7 32 or 64 bit version?, so I can set up my computer the right way.

      Coding the new battery is very difficult with these tools, it is much easier to do it with the new BimmerGeeks Protool app.

    For using INPA can i connect the computer to the car via OBDII (Bluetooth), I don't have have the cable (and hard to get it delivered at this time (COVID 19 , and living in Iraq).

      No you need a K+D CAN cable to connect your laptop to the car as far as I know. Some of the newer phone apps can use a Wi-Fi dongle.

    I followed your instructions and it worked as you described, one issue I am having is that I can not change the INPA.INI file in any way. Any changes are ignored and I need the R56 menu. Have you run across this issue?

    Nothing seemed to happen when I plugged in my cable but it does come up as a USB device and I did change it to COM1. It should work then no? Also the push switch: which position is K and which is D?

      Switch to the left for older models and in between or to the right for newer ones.

      You might need to buy the protool and default code the DME. Put a message out on the bimmergeeks Facebook forum and see what ppl say.

    Just wanted to confirm this is usable with the E60 and E9x chassis? I remember hearing they had a change of CAN somewhere in the 2000s.

      It works on our E82 platform just fine, E6x and E9x models are listed in the main menu so you should be fine as long as you have the switch on your K+D CAN cable in the correct position.

    I followed your video and installed the software smoothly. However, when my cable was plugged in at USB port, it was not shown in the Device Manager as "Port & COM". Instead, it showed "Other Devices" for which I cannot change port settings. Any comments on that? I work with Windows 10 pro. Thank you.

      It may be due to your use of the Pro version of Windows. We used the regular version. Contact BimmerGeeks and see if they have any other drivers you can try.

    Hello friend, I do everything step by step and finish up to step number 10. But the bmw icon does not appear. and I can't place it on the desktop.
    I'm doing it with your video on one computer and the whole setup on another laptop. I have gone step by step, I even copied the instructions or commands from your text file with the instructions, I verified each of the letters or characters and I can't get the BMW icon where the extracted files are.
    What I can do ????

    Hey man, when it comes to the Command Prompt section. I try to type in the following commands but an error message opens up “the module was loaded but the call to DIIRegisterServer Failed with error code 0x8002801c.”
    Can someone help me?

    Hey i followed everything but when i want to open Inpa it sais api32.dll missing... on win 10 64bit how do i fix?

    Hi its working perfect but there are only one problem .When I read the errors the results pops up in a other language how can I fix it ?It only happens when I read the codes .The rest of the app are in English

      You can use the MHD App to scan and clear codes in English for free through your tablet or phone. All you need is an OTG cable to connect to your K+D CAN Cable.

    Followed everything to the letter, but when trying to use INPA I get the #135
    API-0015 HOST COMMUNICATION ERROR
    API Initialization error
    No API calls possible

    I followed all these steps but it gives me error when I attempt to run job on inpa or tools32, "ecu service not supported" is the error on tools32 for frm short circuit counter job. I had a kDcan cable from Amazon and returned it and got one from bimmergeeks because I thought that was issue but still same error.Any ideas what it can be?

    Thanks for this tutorial. I found a problem ... when i open INPA, press INFO, EDIABAS is not recognized Ini Path ????? Ecu path ???? Interface ?????. Do you know what can i do to solve this ?

    Could someone clarify where to open the command prompt, so do I have to copy those 3 files there? if so, how do i get them connected to it?

      Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and type in "command prompt" in the search box. Then follow the instructions in the video.

      @@cyclevin159 It’s hard for me to interpret English from a video because it’s so bad for me.
      But then, I do get the command open but after that I no longer understand or can interpret what needs to be done. So did you copy those three pieces of data straight there, or did you write?

    I keep getting virus treatment from windows defender every time I try to install with st212?!?!

      We use BitDefender so Windows Defender is turned off, BitDefender scanned the files and found no issues...

      @@cyclevin159 hi it works fine, after installing the software first. It took some days before I received the carble. I now understand the diagnostic area but the coding and programming is my problem.

    After installing everything as in the tutorial, I connect it with the car, shows me that the cable is detected and ignition on. After entering the model n46 and the engine appears to me error Versions do not match. Possible malfunction!
    Press ok then I see the error Language variants do not match. Possible malfunction!
    Can someone help me?

      It says that for us too, just click ok and it should let you continue on to use the software.

      You have to crawl before you walk...we actually use TIS when necessary for the occasional job that INPA isn't able to handle.

    so I have downloaded the correct version of 7 zip as well as the bimmergeeks file but cannot figure out what do do from there, the 7 zip file becomes 7z1902-x64.exe and the bimmergeeks keeps the same name and is 140,718 kb in size, when I right click the bimmergeeks file I do not have an option to unzip it

    I’m using a K+DCAN cable and it doesn’t show on ports from device manager, it shows on ‘Other devices’ that’s the only problem I’m having because it’s not showing that my cable is on nor ignition on INPA. Help? :(

      I was able to fix it! I had to go to device manager and update the cable using WiFi and it changed from other devices to Ports. In case anyone has this problem update your cable using WiFi!

      If you have an older car the switch should be to the left, if newer to the right on your K+D CAN cable.

    for some reason everything works but inpa, ncs expert, and wink kfp did i do something wrong? i get the messege " the code execution proceed becuse api32.dll was not found." what do i need to do to fix this?
