Christen Press is a joy to watch. However, a real test comes when USWNT starts playing countries with physical strength and skills in later rounds. Countries like England, Sweden, Germany, France, etc. How she stands up to pushing, shoving and tripping all become more apparent when she face physical teams. I would like to see how Christen Press handles this kind of pressure in Tokyo.
Ralph Smith I would agree and add that, even with the little I’ve seen of her, Rose Lavelle too has great skills and would be my second favorite player to watch.

Its just the passing that needs to improve. Its either a sloppy pass, the harder pass or they fail to combine. But once they get into things and the quick passing crisp up they won’t be as sloppy. They’re also having to make the small minor changes that vlatko adds which can be very hard for them because they played how jill wanted them to and do the minor things without thinking.
Francisca Hidalgo Though they played well and score multiple goes, how much is it because of the player or the fact that the teams we played do not offer much of defense to counter the Uswnt attack. The test will be in the”She Believes Cup” when we actually do play teams that have played us strong defensively. Let’s see how Press and Horan play against top tier teams and see if their play is as good what we saw against Costa Rica, Haiti, and Panama
Chris Radovan i think both christen and Lindsey will cause major waves in she believes cup. Christen was in top form last year and was influential in that semi final against england and she embaressed bronze. she’s manage to make that her norm as we’ve seen in qualifers. I think Lindsey is also hitting her first period of great form because she has been the heart of the midfield and has been the only player to constantly move the ball from defense to attack without losing it.
Horan and Mewis are both making huge contributions. Horan has been around and and improving for so long that it's hard to believe she is only 25. She is for sure way more fit than just a few years ago.
The offenses is so quick, powersful and dynamic with McDonald and Williams and Press. No, I dont miss Morgan at all. I wish her the best, but there is so much other talent to explore.

Costa Rica wouldn't have beaten the US with any of their players. We also had a lot of key players on the bench.

As a fan of "las ticas" for a while now, they have to realize that in order to compete with a team like the US women's national team (World champions) they are going to have to bring alot more endurance, talent, and tactical game both individually and collectively to the field. The USWNT are in a whole different level of this which i speak of. "Las ticas" do ok for such a small country and not a whole lot of support from the sport federation since the last few decades, but this has got to change in order for them to seek higher ground in competition world wide. Can't wait to see who stops this ferocious beast of a team (USWNT), congrats!.

Could you answer a question I have? Who picks the jersey numbers for the players? Is it the coach? Do the players have any say? Some players, usually older veterans, always have the same number, e.g. Alex Morgan no. 13, Carli Lloyd, No. 10 and so on. Christen Press usually has no. 23, but here in this game she is no. 20. Other players, like Mallory Pugh have several numbers. I have seen Mallory as no. 2, no. 11, and no. 22. And why do the numbers for some players change while others stay the same? So who is it that makes these decisions and do the players have any say in it?

Our 6th goal was NOT a goal....the ball did not completely cross the goal line. This was a wrong call by the referee or officials.
VAR or goal-line technology must be used .....but I will guess they were not used because of cost.

Because Costa Rica players level is way too below of USA players, the best of these region in women soccer are USA and Canadá, and behind of them may be México, there is a lot of difference between north América (México, usa, Canadá) in comparison to central América and the caribbean, in male and female soccer teams sas but true.

Mallory Pugh has not played consistently over the last few weeks. Since just before Jill Ellis left the team. I was not surprised that she did not make the 20-person roster. She still practices with the team by the invitation of Vlatko Andonovski. He is still optimistic that she will return to her previous form. Still, I have noticed that virtually all of those Vlatko chose are playing very well right now. Carli Lloyd, Christen Press, Tobin Heath, Lynn Williams, Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Crystal Dunn, Lindsey Horan, Samantha Mewis, Rose Lavelle, Julie Ertz and Andi Sullivan. When Alex Morgan returns, if she is on form, Jessica McDonald will probably be the one to be replaced. I have seldom seen the USWNT play as well as they are right now.
The Olympic roster is two players smaller than the roster for the qualifier, so three of these players will have to be cut to make room for Morgan. The return of Pugh would require another cut, which is unlikely since the new coach called her out for lack of effort. If she returns at all, Pugh may not come back until after the post-Olympic retirements.
@@roberthudson1959 Lynn isn't guaranteed though, she has zero technical ability. The only reason she is on there is because Pugh hasn't been on form.

Well if things go the way they should USWNT will face Mexico in the Semi-finals and Canada will Face Costa Rico and will see the USWNT - Canada matchup in the Finals. If the inevitable happens, that Mexico beats Canada, then the USWNT will face Canada in the semi-finals that would be a match to see

I agree both players Tobin Heath and Lindsey Horan are remarkably great players. Horan is by mile my favorite player, but let’s go into deeper. Why are US soccer women are so dominant and hard to beat?is it because of our defense talents?or strikers?Sure we do have quality defense players or great strikers such as Morgan, Press, Rapinoe,..the truth, the MAIN reason why USSW is such a dominant force is because of our midfielders. No doubt, the best women midfielders in planet are all in US team. Horan, Mewis, Lavelle, Ertiz(these four girls! unreal). That being said, in soccer you can win a game with weak defense or offense, but almost impossible to win a game with weak midfielders. US can win without playing our best strikers such Morgan, Press, Heath or MR....but we CANNOT without our midfielders....my opinion:the two MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS are SAMANTHA MEWIS AND JULIE ERTZ. The brain and the heart of the team. That’s the reason US never lost or draw a game where Mewis and ERTZ are playing.
