I ride in New England until Mid December . Fleece lined compression undergarments, compression turtle neck, two pairs of lined compression socks, fleece lined riding suit with waterproof wind jacket. I ride as low as 15 degrees. My best solution is to load my car and drive to south Florida from mid December to mid April. Voila. Problem solved every year.
I've opted for the GT 365 in Utah winters even though it is a little more expensive because I always hit some mud. As you said, the lower pressure helps a lot as well. In Utah I have decided I will ride in light snow but I skip it during rain. Something about the cold rain that puts me off. Spring rains are OK. The cold is easy to deal with via the right clothing as you mentioned. Great post!
I lived in Chicago before living in Rocklin near Roseville. People used to think me crazy when in December I was wearing shorts and a sweatshirt. I explained that cold for me meant air temps of -30F and wind chills of sometimes -65F. I am back in Illinois. We need cycle shoe covers, jacket, gloves which include Lobster Claws. I also wear polypropylene long underwear which wicks sweat from you.
Now how about a pam on riding in actual winter stuff, long johns, multiple layers on yoru torso well insulated gloves and more. Suggestion form western Canada
you should see what i put on to ride a motorcycle down the rd in winter. think layers covering over all of your skin except for your eyes. but do not be like that kid in a Christmas story..(if i got the title of the movie right). the one were someone said "you will shoot your eye out". just thin layers, sweat soak-er first, reasonable second then, a layer to block the cold wind from getting in. (not stupid thick).
Lots of talk about rain in mud, come to Ohio and you will be talking more about snow! lol. I’m just picking my days - sunny and no wind I can go into the 30 degrees. See ya in Ohio for Cycle Com next year.

Puts it in perspective for Californians that 40ºF isn't so cold 😅

Today is winter solstice and.y trike is wrapped up for the winter, Christmas is going to be 56degrees on Christmas here in west Michigan
A roller can keep you riding indoors during adverse weather!
I'm also in West Michigan-I'll probably go for a spin this year!
If you can walk your dog, you can ride your trike. No big thing.
