Quick way to build a 700hp car: buy an n54 335i, buy a 67mm single turbo kit, buy a port injection kit, (bms or fuel-it) buy a custom backend flash from wedge performance. (You email them logs, they email you a fitting custom backend flash.) Yeah easily over 700
Saul is a pretty big deal tuner actually in South California. He even built a Freshkicks Nismo 350z back then. He's not that expensive but if you also know your shit, you two can become great partners.
A turbo guard is fine for the street if you keep up on regular maintenance properly. It will keep out anything large enough to really damage a fin which is most of what you are looking for in turbo protection. You will however get more dirt/dust entering your oiling system depending on the climate you live. The difference isn’t as great as most people assume though; a basic K&N doesn’t filter much if any small particulate anyway so a turbo guard isn’t far off.
My 68 SS NOVA.. Has a blown 572, it makes cruising horsepower 1000ish. In full race mode with a pulley change it can make 1700ish without spraying it. I have today in this build since 2010 60grand in to it and my wheelie bars are used often lol
I had a 98 civic with 720hp I’ve had just about everything from Japanese euros to mustangs and everything the civic by far was the most fun car I’ve had speed wise I had a b18c1 in mine only thing that cost me serious money was being stupid when I was drunk and 2stepped it right as soon as I turned it on and spun a rod bearing but rebuilt it and sold it and now I’m building my Cummins it’s on an economy tube making 597hp and 1011ft lbs of torque i just built it a month and a half ago I’m so happy I got a diesel they’re so easy to make big power in them 10/10 would recommend haha
I think 500hp at the wheel is plenty and that’s what I’m building my car to make. I want it to be fast and still handle amazing but still be able to haul my kids. I’ll get there, I just bought the car in January and have already bought a shit load of parts and couple cosmetic items and some quality of life improvements. Taking my downpipe to have a extra 02 bung for wide band so it can be properly tuned and activate the e85 mod.

Some places have problems with big ass bugs flying into your Turbo. When it gets cold in NY the mice will chew threw the mesh and build a nest in you Turbo over night.

Drew in all honesty you could get a lot of honda motors to make around 400-500hp to the wheels with just a spooly boy and a tune you really dont need alot until you start crossing that area then get your blocked sleeved and maybe some pistons and rods and if your tryna make like 1000 well idk personally I have never seen anyone go that far but I know the hardcore drag guys do it
To answer questions about the B18, yes it would take an ass ton of money to get 700+hp out of this engine (and make it reliable). First you need to get the GS-R tranny which will run you at least $2500 for a decent one. As for the engine I’d say the stock internals on boost probably maxes out 250-300Hp before things start getting dicey so a complete bottom end rebuild would be on the list. Depending on which B18 you have and your preference, if you want that VTEC sauce you would have to get a C1 or C5 head (which I’m seeing is getting more difficult to find) and then completely rebuild it, a built non VTEC head can perform well but then who would know it’s a Honda ripping down the road. Then who can forget the turbo kit, axels (spare bc u will break them), injectors, fuel rail, fuel pump, stage 2 clutch, flywheel, and billet mounts all the way around. I’m sure I’m missing some stuff but my point it it’s not cheap at all but it’s well worth it when your shit box is dusting V8s lol. (Please don’t come for me I enjoy all engines big and small lol)

B18s can make lots of power for fairly cheep and can easily handle up to 30psi. Honda engines are surprisingly reliable when built to make big power

I work for honda anna engine plant and they will hold... when we dyno mortar they run then at redline for days no stop. Pretty neat
