The Hermes shopping game (it’s not a ‘journey,’ is a game) is by far the STUPIDEST thing ever. “Buy 100k of stuff you don’t really like so maybe, possibly, you could be offered a bag in a size or color that you don’t like.” It’s a handbag version of an abusive relationship. They can keep their stupid bags.
I feel like more and more people are feeling this way. 😔
I so AGREE!!!…..come to think of it, other than the Hermes Lindy, I really think the Birkin, Kelly and Constance are straight forward designs, of course there are the good quality leather and craftsmanship, but it really does not warrant a 5 figure sum for some of the Hermes bags, ladies don’t be fooled.

It is 101% not true that you need to buy stuff just to be offered a kelly or a Birkin, it's just happened that the bag is so popular then when you go to France botique they cannot offer/give to you because it's most of the time sold out. But the moment you will tell what you like color, design, the SA will keep that information and will definitely call you and offer you the bag through call then that's the time you'll get your dream bag but it takes a lot of time, and disappointment in the beginning, but the said purchase first any stuff before offer a bag is not totally true

Welcome back lovely! I am a retired F/A (from your airline). About 15 years ago, I stopped buying luxury brands, even “on sale”, books, candles, etc. I basically spent intentionally, before it was even a “thing”. I started putting the money into my 401k and I was able to retire (after flying 30 years) debt free, with a big chunk of change in my 401k. I retired 10 years earlier than the normal retirement age and I am loving life. I applaud you for making the changes AND congratulations on your backyard! 💖✈️💖

Sold all my bags. No interest anymore. Stopped shopping at Sephora etc, drug store only for skincare and makeup. Gave myself a buzz cut 2 years ago. When I moved, realized how much name brand stuff I hardly used. Hair was long and always in a bun and minimal make up but spent so much on hair care make up etc. I am trying to find my one “signature” fragrance, that will be my luxury 😂

I am obsessed with reading on my commute to and from work. I am always at Barnes and Noble. I need to go back to my local library. I used to do it during the pandemic, but now I go to the bookstore. I can drop some serious cash on books so I am with you.
Omg I never even knew that’s the way Birkin bags were bought. At that point though you’re better off paying extra for the item you actually want. Loved this video Stella! Glad you’re back!
Thats why the Birkin and Kelly bags are so expensive on the pre love websites because they know you have to buy a ton of stuff at the store before you are given a chance to buy the bag you really want.

You know what Stella? That’s called maturity! Yes, that’s being mature and responsible! I applaud what you said about the Birkin. I bought into the stupidity and bought one preloved for a lot more than retail, guess what! I didn’t feel right, didn’t have the excitement and didn’t care for it plus I felt STUPID, so I sold it after hating what I did, not the bag but what that represented and I lost a lot of money 🙄but never again! I am a chanel lover for years (was my first love and still is unfortunately lol), and I have a sufficient and lovely collection of ONLY what I wear, enjoy and loveeeeee., but I completely agree and understand what you said 😂.
I will never understand why people don’t use there library. I would spend 100$ on books every month if I didn’t use the library.
Some people have shelving and a library. We like to read our books over and over and loan them to our children. We like the way they feel and smell. That’s why
Some areas have very small libraries and the selection isn't always the greatest.

Yes, the library! Also if you have a kindle or want more audio books, then maybe join a bunch of libraries on your layovers and browse their digital and audio books so you can have a bigger selection.

Half Price Books - I purchase a book, read it and sell it back. I love physical books and there are great options - libraries, online used, sharing, etc

I don't remember they name of it. There is man here on CZcams who makes leather goods. He takes apart the designer leather goods to see if they are worth the money. Several of the pricier ones had cheap materials in the inside and were way over priced. It was very eye opening for me.

The Birkin game is ridiculous! So much to go through to then pay a ridiculous amount of money for a bag. I love handbags, but I resolved when I retired last June was not to purchase anymore luxury handbags. I'm holding firm so far!

It sounds like you’re making some really great decisions on how to spend your time and money. I’d encourage you to have some sort of reward system (something free or cheap) that you can look forward to because you get a lot of dopamine from retail therapy and fast food. So proud of you 👍

I’m so glad I bought luxury items before the crazy price increases. I’m so over the ridiculous prices they charge now for lower quality materials. Every time I get an itch, I will just be more diligent in rotating my current items and learn to just be thankful for what I already have.

Its good to see you again and fanny, too! Very helpful to think of what not to buy again for this year, its almost like refreshing start. I will have to cut back of not spending of what Im not using it. This year I didn't buy new makeup and skincare, I only buy what I need for daily use.

Happy 2024, Miss Stella! I'm also staying away from 'Trendy' items like SLG I don't need more of. Or 'It' Jewellery, as everyone seems to have them, they're not unique, are only expensive due to the Brand, and I don't love them. Plus the quality of some Luxury items has been going down so much over the past few years, and they're not worth it. If I fall in love with a piece and have to have it as I'll enjoy it forever, then it'll always be worth it:) Aww I love the end footage of Franny running in your new Garden! xo

Stella, I'm so happy to see you and Franny! Look at that yard, no more NYC dog parks. I stopped doing the wallflowers about a year ago, it's to much and always something new or on sale. I also have a dog, and it's not the best for them, I heard. I'm really loving my candle lamp warmer I got, which makes the candles last longer.

My best Hermes purchases are from Heathrow Term 5. The most used Hermes items I've actually used are the dinnerware pieces. They are used almost daily. If I have them, I'm going to use them.
I LOVE SHOPPING AT HEATHROW!! Vat taxes come right off the price! That airport is one of my favorite places to buy designer anything.
