Xyz Xyz Yeah I'd say Rean has earned a bit of a break at the end of IV. I mean holy shit they really got a kick out of crushing his wide eyed optimism throughout this series. Personally I don't think he'll sacrifice himself though. I mean they set up his self sacrificial tendencies as the character flaw he needs to overcome by the end of this arc. Remember when Rean was quoting his master in chapter 2 of the first Cold Steel? "What's the point in saving others if you can't even spare a moment to save yourself?" Rean's whole character arc in this series is about learning the value of his own life and realizing that, yes, people care about him and it does matter if he makes it back from the battlefield at the end of the day. I very much doubt that Falcom would have Rean learn that he shouldn't throw his life away, only to have him....well....throw his life away at the end of story arc.

its not a kid its a artifical humonoculus created by them and not a real human im glad its out of the way to be honest but the ending is still bad they wanted to make it dramatic im more sad about lauras father or rean than the annoying super cyborn kid
