Mesa PD has a hardon for Chris.
He has held them accountable so many times and they hate him for it.
One Mesa cop even went so far as to try and get a restraining order against Chris.
Then he went to court on bogus charges and the judge tried to order him to stop filming Mesa cops as part of his probation.

If I were a cop, I would do what I could to change their mind.
I had two police encounters with two different cops from the same department that is one an example of how the cops should behave and one where a cop was proven to be lying about what he saw, and *STILL* tried push the lie.
In the first case I was walking down the street when a cop pulled in front of me with her car to black the sidewalk. She then she jumps out and takes 2 or 3 running footsteps, stops and says, "Oh, you are not the guy I'm looking for."
Unable to resist, I gave a fist pump and said, "Yes, Jedi mind tricks do work."
She laughs, wishes me a good day, I wish he luck in finding her man and she got back in her car and drove away. All of this took much less tan a minute. She didn't ask me for ID, or my name, or anything at all. She did nothing at all to extend the detention, and was polite (for laughing at my joke, even though I sort of said she was weak minded) and professional. Though I'm not sure she realized at that time I was sort of saying she was weak minded. Even I only realized this later.
The next encounter, again I was walking down the street (I didn't have a car at the time) this time eating a candy bar. Just after finishing the candy bar a cop stopped me for littering.
I asked the cop if he had seen me actually litter and he said he had. I employed a trick the police use when they know a suspect is lying. I asked him again, in a way that would unambiguously establish the lie. I asked him if he had seen the litter leave my hand and land on the ground. He said he had.
I then asked him if that was true, how did the candy bar wrapper end up in my pocket. I also added, "By the way, these *ARE* my pants." (a very old Cops reference where illegal drugs were found in the pocket of a suspect. The suspect then said, "These are not my pants.")
The cop got that, "That's when he knew, he'd fucked up." and rather than apologizing the cop said, "Well, don't let me catch you littering again."
I made sure to say, "No, you have never caught me littering, so you will never catch me littering again."
The cop then said I was free to go got into his car and drove away. Giving me a satisficed feeling. I just wish I had thought to record the interaction.

I lived in Mesa for a good part of 30 years. My interactions with them have been brief. One thing I always noticed, and always bothered me about the Mesa PD. They always seemed dressed for war. If you are not at war why dress like you are. It is very telling to be dressed that way. AZ is a Constitutional carry state. At one stop by Mesa PD, I was asked if I had a weapon in the car. He asked after I said yes, " Is it loaded." Of course, I said, " why would I be carrying a gun that's not loaded. I think by what I see on current videos, the new breed of cops is probably the problem. They are taught and groomed for this "everyone is your enemy" way of policing, and that is to always violate peoples rights. In war, the enemy has no rights.
