    Shiren uses the headless guitar to save weight on his wrist. He has tenositis in the tendons in his wrist. So bad, that there was a year or 2 when he was unable to play. So, he learned growl vocals so he could still contribute. During that period Jill played all of his guitar parts on Violin! Only the drum part is not reversed in the music, the vocals in Revedac tell the 2nd half of the story. And, YES - there is a Live version of them playing Cadaver/Revadac back to back. As a guitarist, the idea of learning the new set of muscle memory necessary to perform a song backward is mind-boggling. These people are Next Level talented.

    Let me explain what the song is about, it may help you a bit. The songs came about due to Shiren (headless guitar). reading in a newspaper about a Swiss company that turns people ashes in to diamonds, then he thought about what would happen, if someone wanted to bring back that person to life.
    So yes it is 2 different songs, just the notes are in reverse, there is one lyrical line that is reversed, and that is in German, the last and 1st.
    OK the headless guitar, is a Strandberg. Shiren some years ago picked up tenosynovitis in his arm, and as a result could not carry the full weight of a guitar or tune it, he almost quit the music industry because of it. With a Strandberg, it is lighter, easier to place on a stand, and does not require tuning nearly as much. He may have even started the concert with the guitar on a stand, then about 1/2 way though play it not on the stand. Also there is a cut out in the body of the guitar, which he uses to rest the guitar on his leg at times, when it's not on the stand.
    So yes it may look wrong, but there is a medical reason for it. And personally, I'd rather have him play a strange looking guitar, than not play at all.
    Yes they started in 2008, but it was a side project with Fuki (singer) and Shiren, and they did metal versions of Touhou songs, with Fuki writing the lyrics. They were never meant to play live, but they picked up a few fans, that really wanted to play live. So they asked some friends to help them out, over the years that started to use the same people all the time. Then in 2016, Fuki did not have a main band, as hers had gone it to hiatus, so they decided to take the band full time, and asked the people that been helping them out live to join them. But still 7 years with out a member change is very rare in Japan, they were all playing together in 2014 live (but as a side project), it would be longer, but Jill (violin) started play with them then. Ogawa (bass) and Fumiya (drums) go back to 2011. You could say it is a band that was eight years in the making.
    They are really good friends outside of the band, they go around each others homes and play video games together.
    Also all the members go off and play with other bands. Fumiya was in Galneryus for 3 years at the same time as UM. Ogawa is a jazz bassist who play for a big Japanese jazz artist. Fuki works with other bands all the time and has a solo career as well. Shiren used to be in 3 or 4 other bands until his injury, he was in Babymetals 1st Kami band. Jill goes and plays with orchestras, or appears in other bands from time to time. The other guitarist Jinya plays with other bands. But they all come back to Unlucky Morpheus when needed.

      @@easyfunkycrazyand Jill, Fumiya, Ogawa and Jinya are in an instrumental band call Quadratum and Shiren does the arrangements. Jill's incredible skills are really shown off. I highly recommend checking out Far Beyond the Sun, and Yngwei Malmsteen cover and The Dance of Eternity, a Dream Theater cover.

    The whole melody of CADAVER is reversed for REVADAC (both voice and instrumental). But the drums and rythm sections of the guitar aren't (and lyrics obviously). I don't remember the lyrics tbh and not knowing japanese it's hard to find a trustworthy translation, but I think they are connected somehow (like a person dying in CADAVER and someone trying to reverse the death and bring them back in REVADAC)

    its just the sheet music that's in reverse for everything except the drums

  • @MaartenT
    @MaartenT Před 10 měsíci +4

    The members have not been the same since the beginning although nobody really left as far as I'm aware. They started out as a doujin project covering/reworking touhou songs (wiki touhou project, although you might actually have heard of it while most other reactors haven't) and it was only the guitarist/vocalist Shiren (the one with the decapitated guitar) and the lead vocalist Fuki who started the band. The other members have been added over time, I believe violinist Jill has been the last one to become a member even though she had played with them before on some releases. I am pretty sure the members have been added between 2014 - 2017 or so? Fans that know them better than I do might correct me on that.
    They are still a completely independent band (keeping to that doujin mindset) that do as much as they can themselves including some of the costumes.
    As far as the song goes, it's a bit easier to see what is different with a different version they released which has the sheet music underneath ([Official Video] Unlucky Morpheus - 「CADAVER」「REVADAC」+sheet music), not sure why people don't request that version instead or why they even bothered releasing it without the sheet music. I think it makes it way more clear what is happening. The drums and lyrics are not in reverse. The vocal melodies and melodies by all the other instruments are played in reverse.
    Edit:
    Also, that show you went to sounds epic, those are a lot of great bands in one venue. Not all of them necessarily my favourites but I have heard music by all but one of them and I would say people outside Japan at least have heard about them. Saiseiga is probably the smallest of the bunch with how new they are, but I actually really like them. I would have loved to been able to see all these shows. I quickly checked the setlist site I typically use, but that venue/day was not added unfortunately.

      I have watched a couple of streamed shows by Saiseiga over the last year and their front woman Regan has a lot of charisma.
      Not sure if you have heard about them, but Regan and Saiseiga's drummer Tohko used to be in an all-female symphonic power metal band with some gothic elements called 絶対倶楽部 (Zettai Club), she already used some harsh vocals as well, but what I have heard from that band was way more melodic. I personally prefer Saiseiga's sound, but if you like melodic power metal (the little I have heard of Aldious is pretty much that), you might enjoy them as well. They were only around from 2017 tot 2020, but had a bunch of releases in that time.

    The correct term for Revodac is "retrograde" where you play the meoldy in reverse. When people say its played backwards it usually confuses people. The only thing thats actually backwards is the german chorus parts.

  • @user-pk1eo2ms9h
    @user-pk1eo2ms9h Před 10 měsíci +2

    Forward and inversion means that the music score is played backwards, but the pronunciation of the lyrics is not played backwards. The storyline of the lyrics is reversed.

    OMG, what a lineup for a single show. I’m so envious.
    Experience the incomparable (and very blonde) FUKI singing with the all-female band DOLL$BOXX (どるずぼっくす) in TAKE MY CHANCE (the video is an amusing take on the IDOL scene) - czcams.com/video/mu2z4Uf9Tgc/video.html
    I agree, the headless guitars look wrong, no matter how many great musicians play them.
    There’s a different video that shows the score played forwards, then backwards.
    I’ve heard slang created by saying the mora in reverse order, like ぶですぶ.

    日本語失礼します。
    この曲はvo. FUKIがcadaverの歌詞を逆から歌うのではなくcadaverの楽譜をgt. ,ba, vionが逆から弾いています❗
    だからvo.とdrm.はRevadacのリズムで歌って叩いてるだけです🎶
    それでもこれは大変なことで世界でも労力がいるしあまりにもアメージング過ぎてやりたがらないんです😨🎵
    あと、mv.は映像と実際の声を合わせるだけだからズレが生じます。
    なのでリップシンクが気になる様でしたらCadaver/Revadacの Live MV.をオススメします🎵
