fyi a 4:57 is nowhere close to the optimization of the world record, the game is just really hard to optimize

Yeah, you can tell just by the way he's playing, this is basically a casual run, not a serious WR attempt. Which tells you a lot about this game and Nifski's skill, where the speedrun equivalent of a casual stroll through the park is 3 seconds off of the fastest recorded time, and ~4 seconds off the absolute fastest theoretical time.

Also, you might not know this, but Niftski reached World 8-4 on AndrewG's lucky framerule (he did 4-1 FPG which allowed him to do the traditional 3-bump 4-2, canceling out framerules), he got the judges in World 8-1, he opted out of the BBG in World 8-2, and he played the rest of the world perfectly. Since he got a 4:57.8, this would fly a 4:57.1 with BBG, and using Kosmic's 4:55 route (FPG, Get 347, Return of FPG, Pipe Dream, Judges?, BBG, FPG Strikes Back, Peace is Paved), this can get a 4:55.7.
