It just reminded me of that desperation to move in spite of the brain's inability to make the body do what the person wants. It's devastating to watch a loved one deteriorate over the years, suffering from Parkinson's disease, and it just reminded me of that. It was like the carbidopa/levodopa kicking in again.

its been a year since u post ur comment. i dont know how ur family is right now but i really hope u r happy and possitive. and trust me ur father is happy when u show him love , when u hug him and kiss him.parents are happy when their children are happy
About 11 years ago, I had strokes during a neck surgery, that shut off my entire left side. Doctors told me I would likely never walk again. This was very hard to hear at 36 years old. Through months of inpatient, and years of outpatient PT, I graduated to using a quad cane, to a single cane, to now, no cane at all. Depending on the extent of the stroke damage, the brain can rewire itself, with proper therapies. While is outcome may not be like mine, don't rule anything out. Doctors can be wrong, and physical therapists can work miracles. I hope your father and family are doing well.

And then Wilson ruined such a great moment by asking to not tell this to House. I can’t believe Cuddy listened to him
Sara Zonana It was simply for Cuddy to mark her territory as House’s boss. House is insane, but he can be managed. Cuddy needed to demonstrate to House that he’s not always right, and chose this opportunity to do so in reminding him why there’s rules for him to follow and why they’re there. House has gone rogue at times and in the future, it has costed him his patient’s life.
It’s because Cuddy always has to be on top, no matter
who she has to step on or knock down to get there.
Val Narr id blame Wilson for that, she was an idiot for listening to Wilson but it’s clear she wanted so bad to tell House the truth.
This was my favorite episode and Cuddy should have told house. Wilson was WRONG and Cuddy was WRONG to listen to him. This was the only time I actually cried when Richard stood up. What a beautiful moment.
Sara Zonana
Not like they can hide doctor accessible medical records.
Faking them would constitute a crime and cuddy/wilson don't have the stones for that.
House knows.
What's really messed up is that Wilson convinced Cuddy to not tell House he was right. He finds out a couple of episodes later anyway, but they should have told him. Great series!
They had their reasons.
House knows who he is. After all, "God doesn't limp"*
*House himself said it with the episode where the kid was seeing aliens hurt him

@@alexanderkuptsov6117 wrong reasons
This is personally my favorite episode of House. People really suffer from a disease like this and 99% of the time doctors mistreat it or misdiagnose it. Can you imagine being trapped in your own body but can't tell the doctor you are still here
What is the disease
@@maximumanimal773 Locked-in syndrome (LIS), also known as pseudocoma, is a condition in which a patient is aware but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in the body except for vertical eye movements and blinking. The individual is conscious and sufficiently intact cognitively to be able to communicate with eye movements. Electroencephalography results are normal in locked-in syndrome. Mystery solved
Props to everyone who worked in this scene. The acting, Richard, the wife, Cuddy. And last but not least the music is just perfection
This was still one of the best moments of the whole show, puts a smile on my face Everytime
It's moments like this, that made me love this show.
I tear'd up in this scene, the scene where he fixes the canadian veteran amputee's pain problem, and when Amber said goodbye to Wilson.
It's moment's like this that make me wonder "why do I click on this stupid stuff?"
I cried at this scene and hated Cuddy and Wilson so much after it. House is always right and his friends never seem to learn and accept that!
I didn't see why they couldn't tell House. If it was a dangerous procedure I could semi-understand them not wanting to risk patient's lives for no reasons but this was harmless! He wasn't going to get harmed so I can't see why they didn't tell him when they didn't remove his ego as they only knocked his confidence
The trick is understanding House the way they, his best friends, do. He doesn't just help people because it's the right thing to do, he does it to satisfy his curiosity and ego. That's why he takes patients nobody else can help, because that makes him unique. It's best exemplified when he reveals what made him want to become a doctor, when he was in Japan his friend got sick, none of the doctors could help him so they called in the janitor, who it turned out was the best doctor in the hospital but part of the 'poor' caste. He saw that no matter who you are or where you're from, if you're good enough they have to keep you around. Technically he's not employed at the hospital as a doctor, he has tenure as it's a teaching hospital, which is why he has his own team.
The reason they didn't tell him about this solution working was because unlike usual, this was literally throwing darts at a possible cause and hitting the bullseye. 9/10 times it wouldn't have worked. And if they told him what had happened, it might have lead him to try something even crazier with the next patient.

Of all the cases House has solved, this was the most impactful. This was solely a theory from House coming from cooling off from the fountain. Nobody else thought there was anything wrong with Richard. Not Foreman, Cameron, Chase, nor Cuddy. Nobody. Logically, you would just assume that by consensus nothing was wrong with him in any hypothetical situation. However, this is not the case. This again solidifies the theme of House being that “one in a million” kind of doctor. He can diagnose what nobody else can. There were some other significant cases like Stacy’s husband, Amber, the soap opera actor, the boxer, the woman trapped inside the rubble from the crane collapse, but to me this carries the most weight. The reason being in that because of House’s brilliance in seeing what no one else saw, the patient came out of a vegetative state and finally embraced his family for the first time in years. In the other cases, Amber died, Stacy’s husband was paralyzed, the boxer’s career was over, and that woman had to have her leg amputated. This goes to show how House has made a difference for the better.
Anthony Mendez The woman also died in the ambulance
So true we were all shocked by seeing House being right again, like his Team during the episode we were wondering did lost his gift and then we saw this miracle.
It’s incredible how this show really got us in the shoes of the characters. It’s like we are thinking like them and many other times Made us debate with them in controversial cases
Seto Kaiba Yeah. I forgot to mention that. How could I forget?
I agree but for a different reason. I think this is impactful since it proves that house still has it even after his leg was healed. People have always attributed his genius to his pain and loneliness - that you can't have a normal life while being that smart. And House is starting to believe it too, he's doubting himself but this proves that he was not at all driven by his pain. I think it's very important for his character to know that he can have a normal life while being nuts about medical puzzles.
Jun Alfie Chua That fear had been developed and even justified over the series, like in the episode where House is happy because of the Medical-no fun-double risk-Heroin

Could you even possibly have leg strength to stand after being in a wheelchair for so long?
no. and cortisol treatment wouldn't react this drastically.
apple54345 Might have strength, though unlikely. Definitely not have coordination thus nullifying strength. Second, no one ever injects that much medication intramuscularly in one injections, and these shows primarily make us in medical community feel poorly with how are most, except main character in medicine. Basic mistakes made to frequently. Why I figured out 1/2 I watched before house.
John Smith Muscle atrophy, muscle coordination. Why infants must learn. Takes practice and coordination. It's not typically possible. Not impossible but unlikely. Know of a man in a comma for two years, took two years to walk again, was 24, so knew how, but muscle weakness, atrophy, and coordination. It took retraining which most do not do if not using muscles to walk and support body weight.
Assuming he had daily physical therapy, yes, he would be able to stand. He would need support (which he had here) for awhile while he relearned to walk. I have been in a wheelchair for 5+ years and can still stand and walk short distances with use of a walker. So yes - this scene is possible. (And the effects of Cortisol would be almost instantaneous )
Peter Formaini No he would not. He would need to stand, as you do to maintain that. Therapy not equal to carrying body weight does not maintain that. Also cortisol given into muscle will not have that immediate effect, must move to blood stream, which happens when ver time. Given into blood stream it could, not like this shows. It's television, truth is secondary
With great power comes great insurance liability
This scene made me cry. It was SO moving!
Having lost my Dad some years ago this scene made me break down.

Bar none, one of the best scenes of the entire series! Still gives me chills. :)
I don't understand why Cuddy made a big deal about this test with House. But I do understand why they writers did - for drama!
Because House wasn't basing his decision on logic or reason, he was taking a guess. Houses decisions are always risky but they are typically based on evidence whereas this time there was none. The test itself is simple, but if he is going to just start making decisions without those things he is start killing more people than he is saving.
jak140111 I was about to comment that, but you summed it up perfectly. House was just lucky here. He’s done this in other situations and it ended up killing his patient. Although, the worst case scenario was that the cortisol injection would’ve had no effect on him and literally nothing would’ve happened to him. So, Cuddy was really just marking her territory here.
when did he do something like this to other patients?? the only one i know of is foreman giving radiation to someone with an infection wich ended up killing her causer her immune system was gone
TheSpexks There was a patient named Alfredo and I remember a Cuddy caved in to amputating Alfredo’s hand and later found out that they did it for no reason.
jak140111 but cortisol wouldn't kill the patient, right? So there is literally no risk and by definition this is not a case of taking a chance.
