Ray, in case you are still checking comments in older videos for maybe a dumb question. Would there be any way to get close to the same troubleshooting conclusion with just a DMM? I am new to this and going back through all your videos in order to learn as much as I possibly can. Simply amazing content and delivery as always thank you.
While I understand your logic about C701 being a film cap due to the 250v requirement, is the schematic just wrong because it has a polarity marking next to it which implies it is an electrolytic?
Hi I have a marantz 4300 it was recappedbut could still hear a faint humm or distortion when on with no music playing is that normal or is it lacking some maintenance thanks it does sound ok otherwise
If it's both channels that indicates power supply issues. If just one channel it's probably a noisy small signal transistor. Hard to say without seeing/hearing it.
So not to coax you into stating what may be the obvious, but how the heck did that incorrectly speced cap get installed into that circuit? Would it be fair to say that the person who shimmed those filter caps may have been involved? No chance that has been like that from the factory... "right?" Cheers! 👽🖖"Na-nu"
It wasn't like that from the factory on the other channel, so it's safe to say it was from somebody working on it. A friend opined that it could be the guy thought he was installing a 47µF cap, instead of the .47 that he put in. At my age I need a magnifier to see the decimal point. Could be he needed a magnifier too, but didn't use one. :)
Great job Ray as always you are the man I'm still learning
We're ALL still learning. And that's a good thing!
What a great walk through to the problem, everything you said makes sense and thats just what this amateur needs !...cheers.
Ray, great video. I am glad I stumbled onto your channel. I follow you on AK as well. Very informative. SUBSCRIBED!!
That is a Beautiful machine thanks for sharing your knowledge

Not really. But a budget way of doing this could be achieved would be to use a USB-audio interface and software interface like Visual Analyzer.
Thanks for posting! I learned a few things here.
Good job Ray,well done!
glad to see you making videos
Keep up the great work Ray!
very well done I enjoyed your video very interesting to to learn how much there is to learn (:
Learning never stops, or at least it shouldn't. Thanks for the comment!
Excellent as usual 🤙
Thanks Jube!

Marantz schematics are notorious for errors, and this looks like yet another.
OTOH, I'm grateful for any schematic, errors or not!
nice work

Does your hair ever get caught in any electronic equipment Roy ?
No, but I suspect that some watch these videos just waiting for it to happen. :)

Do you repair for a living?
No, just a serious hobby at this point. Looking to ramp it up in retirement.
@@raygianelli3612 I wouldn't know.... You're at it and in deep. Keep going and thanks for sharing! God Bless!
