Spent the month in Malaga in June (2023) and loved it. I totally recommend going up to the rooftop of the AC Hotel. Malaga has everything. It has a great energy. You can take the bus or the train for day trips to Cordoba, Granada, Nerja/Frigiliana, Ronda, Marbella, etc. I did the walk up to the Gibralfaro Castle often and down the other side. There's the walk along the coast as well. Rent a bike too (in Soho). Try the espetos-sardines at any of the seaside restaurants. Calle Granada is full of restaurants to choose from, and others branching out from it. My favourite square? Plaza de la Merced. I stayed near the Plaza de la Constitucion. It was a bit noisy at night. I would stay out of the historic district if you want to get any sleep. So much to see and do in Malaga. Highly recommend it. I plan to retire there one day.
I forgot one thing: great shopping! I hate shopping but found so many nice things there of nice quality.
