Here’s a Comparisons of the Diesel 10 and P.T. Boomer chase scene from Thomas and the Magic Railroad Workprint and Theatrical Cut.
Originally the finalized original cut was found in February 2009 but seemed like a music test and you could barely hear the audio which the original audio was lost for a long time until in June 2015 the scene was found without test music which was private but it was uploaded properly in December 2015 since Doug Lennox the actor P.T. Boomer sadly passed away in November 28, 2015 which posted as a tribute to him. P.T. Boomer was infamously cut due to test audiences of children were terrified of him which all of the scenes and footage of him was cut except as a cameo played by a different actor and a model on figure on top of Diesel 10 in the final cut. A Workprint was leaked online in 2020 and featured on the TATMR 20th anniversary Blu ray release which featured P.T. Boomer. The Workprint is an unfinished version of the film with missing music and sound effects, temp voices, tons of deleted scenes and pf course the P.T. Boomer scenes that were lost for 2 decades. However the original finalized cut of the scenes are still lost which are probably deep in Sony’s or Britt Allcroft’s archives which we’ll have to wait and see if the finalized original cut of the film will ever surface the light of day.
While this film was presented in it’s 16:9 format the movie was filmed in 4:3 and it’s one of the last pieces of Thomas media to be made in full screen which Season 6 would change to widescreen surprisingly in 2002. So I thought of presenting the full screen version as that how it was made and some fans prefer it than the widescreen version since it’s just 4:3 cropped to 16:9. Anyway hope you enjoy these comparisons and differences.

The finalized original cut feels more complete than the one that was released.

7:16 7:19 7:21-7:22 Original Cut Version Of Diesel 10 Says: Puffball! (Grunting) Teapot! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Tin Kettle!!!!!!!

I’m praying for it to be released for the 25th anniversary in 2025. I’m saying I still really want the full Director’s cut to be restored and released one day, (the one that was shown to test audiences in March of 2000) the stuff we got on the recent 20th anniversary blu-ray (in my mind) is just not enough! Let’s just cross our fingers, and hope that someone like Dwayne Johnson, John Cena or Will Smith convinces Sony and Mattel to release the full Finalized original cut and rehire Hummie Mann to write a new score for it. Kind of the same way Dwayne Johnson convinced WB and DC to bring back Henry Cavill as Superman.
I’m (someday) going start a petition to get the FULL Director’s Cut released and make people see why the stuff we got on the blu-ray is not enough! We need the full steamed and uncut version before 2100! I think the reason why people don’t like the work print is because it had no music. We need to find the version that was screened to test audiences that has temp music. I want it to be released with a new 4K version of TATMR.
Notice that Thomas has different voice actors for each version?
In the first version, he's voiced by Britt Allcroft, in the second, John Bellis and in the final, Eddie Glen.
There were different voice actors for each version? That pretty neat. I couldn’t tell lol
He’s voiced by Brit in the workprint as they wouldn’t have had all of John’s lines initial finalised. It’s pretty common in voice over work to have someone fill in to get an idea of what lines flow better with the scene.
Speaking of, I really liked the inclusion of Lily and Thomas’ brief interaction! Would’ve loved to hear that in the final film.
I know we have the full workprint but just remember that the finalised original cut in full is still out there, we’ve only seen parts of it (the chase)
If we’re unable to get the finalised original cut maybe someday we will be able to obtain all of the Workprints Assets and we can start from Scratch
We also have a shot of James tumbling down a set from the finalized original cut which was the scene where diesel 10 trying to back up James and junior
Oh yeah, I have read they did a test screening in March 2000 before they planned to release it which resulted in the changes made by removing PT Boomer not just because the test audiences complained of him being too scary, but also because there were way too many human scenes (unlike how it is perfectly balanced in the May 1999 draft) taking up the percentage of Thomas and the other engines' screentime (according to Hummie Mann).
I still don't get the interchange in between voice takes of Patrick Breen and Michael Angelis as Splatter & Dodge. For at least Neil Crone and Kevin Frank were kept on consistently in the final cut.
The Test Audience was full of Demon Babies from Cocomelon.
15:03-15:04 Hope You And P.T Boomer Enjoy Your Cruise Barge, Diesel 10.
If they genuinely thought Boomer was too scary for kids they must be the most weak stomached critics on planet earth
Boomer was just another average villian, nothing more nothing less
@@KalaschniKlown I think it was recently said that the real reason why P.T. Boomer was taken out, not because he was too scary but because he made the movie's pacing longer and focusing more on the human characters which the kids in the audience felt was too boring, and decided to make Diesel 10 the primary villain rather than a side villain. And personally... the test audience made the best choices. I watched the workprint and was bored as hell. I could see why kids didn't like the original version. After 20 years of build up of waiting, it made the trains and their plot less prominent to the plot.
@@brandonspain12345I strongly agree
Cocomelon wouldn’t exist for another 15 years
Being a fan of Thomas, I find it sad that they removed Boomer since he is a good antagonist along with Diesel 10, and thanks to him, several scenes make sense, for example when he tells Diesel 10 that the magic that he refuses to believe is going to defeat him, This makes more sense if you say it to boomer, plus it seemed that in the original version of the script Tasha was going to be mentioned more, it is sad to know that a movie, a good antagonist and many scenes and dialogues have been ruined by a few viewers ( use translator since I'm from Mexico)
Not me because I liked P.T. Boomer just for me. 😁
14:53-14:54 All Three Versions Of Diesel 10s: Puffball!
14:55-14:56 All Three Versions Of Diesel 10s: Teapot!
14:57-14:58 All Three Versions Of Diesel 10s: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Tin Kettle!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhhhh!
I prefer the widescreen version of the film because that's how it looked when projected in 2000
Being Honest Boomer just made Burnet’s Dialogue better than him talking to Diesel
4:24 Diesel 10: Aha! The blue puffball! And just look who else I found! 4:29 [SNARLING ANGRILY] Splodge, get up here and destroy!
4:44 Diesel 10: That makes two of us!
5:48 Diesel 10: [GROWLS] 5:51 [GROWLS] (sped towards Lady and Thomas crossly) 5:59 Puffball!
Music:Alan Silvestri and Randy Newman-Stuart Little and Toy Story 2(1999)
How many different voices of Thomas and Diesel were there? I thought it was just two until now.
Correct; there is only two. Brit filled in pieces for the workprint to get a better idea of what lines they wanted to keep in the film. Keith/Neil and John/Eddie are the only proper finalised voices here.
6:07 Ok, Burnett!! You asked for it!! The gloves are off!!
P.T Boomer -2000
Thanks for sharing this!
5:18 and 5:49 It almost looks to Me that Diesel 10 was voiced by Maurice Lamache (The Voice of Brain the Mouse, Lur the Alien and Sleet) Because of His Growl. Now Maurice Lamache would done a Great Job Voicing Diesel 10 Before Neil Crone.
I would like the character of P.T. Boomer will be repurposed for the new Thomas & Friends live action movie coming out in 2024. My casting choices to play Boomer in the new movie would be: Willem Dafoe and Nicolas Cage.
As much as that sounds great casting, I don’t know if it’s a great idea to bring back P.T. Boomer. I mean we don’t really need a repeat of Magic Railroad again unless they do something better and make the character feel like he would be in the world of Thomas similar to Sailor John from Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure movie. And Magic Railroad in my opinion feels like a movie that’s not really about Thomas and more like a story of a grandfather and his daughter going on an adventure but Thomas characters are just there just for Star power recognition. And also especially what Magic Railroad did to the franchise, from a series that was realistic and real for all ages to a silly kids franchise for toddlers. Even nearly 25 years later most of the general public think Thomas is just a franchise for little kids and not a franchise for all ages like how it was during the classic era. It’s not the worst thing to come out of Thomas especially in this day and age but whether if you like the movie or not it changed the franchise forever especially the public’s view on Thomas that continues to this day two decades later. So we probably need something that’s more true to what Thomas is all about and especially more respect on an official media for Wilbert Awdry besides fans preserving his legacy he hasn’t got any respect in an official piece of Thomas media in a long time since the Brenner and even the BWBA era. And even Magic Railroad didn’t even made a tribute to him despite the fact he passed away in 1997 three years before the film was released. Maybe they could bring back Diesel 10 since he’s beloved by many even fans that don’t like the movie. But I’m not sure if Marc Forster himself even likes Magic Railroad or not I did heard he is a Thomas fan but I’m not sure if he has watched Magic Railroad or not and also that movie failed at the box office so I don’t think they want to repeat a failed film from two decades ago. So I think they should just make a movie just true to the franchise in general and not dumb it down for kids and if the movie becomes successful maybe Mattel can realize that Thomas can be suitable for all ages again like during The Railway Series days and the golden age of the tv show. So it can show the general public that Thomas isn’t it just enjoyable for little kids but for everyone at any age because I’m pretty sure Thomas needs that level of respect especially stuff like the Hit era, BWBA, and the recent All Engines Go. And CZcamsr The Unlucky Tug has made a great video on how Magic Railroad kind of ruined the franchise forever. I totally recommend it that video made me respect Thomas even more than ever before and learning what the franchise is actually about it’s such a fascinating video. czcams.com/video/fPqbsyB5FTQ/video.html
7:20 Long live the King!!!!
Lol I thought of that as well
Are Splatter and Dodge voiced by Michael Angelis in the workprint?

Amazing video and can you do thomas and the magic railroad green for glory all scene comparison pls ❤
I like the finalized original’s score better
The movie would have been much better if they just had the 1999/March 2000 version as the final.
#ReleaseTheAllcroftCut!
PT Boomer being in the Thomas and the magic railroad movie would have been epic and it actually makes sense for him to say now I get you bernert stone none of the dialogue in the 2000 movie makes sense

What no Sound Here?
Not sure what your talking about, but there is sound in this video. For a second I thought CZcams muted it for some reason but no the sound is just fine. Maybe your using Bluetooth or something, I don’t know.
@@raretendo6879the sound comes at 4:10 when the finalized original cut sound plays
Why
Honestly I’m glad they cut PT boomer and the film ended up as it did. As meandering and nonsensical as the final product was it would’ve been even worse with PT boomer. I l can’t take him seriously as a villain or a threat in general and would’ve taken even more focus away from the train characters
I HATE THE WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!>:(
I’m not sure what your talking about, maybe the disclaimer screen? I don’t see why it’s a big deal you can easily forward to it past 10 seconds. Also it’s there because modern CZcams, if you make a video based on a franchise that appeals to kids they will turn the comments off and people that like those Franchises and especially Thomas fans hate it so much. Like I said Modern CZcams it’s no longer about Broadcasting Yourself sadly. Also if your under 13 watching this I don’t mind it, like I said it’s there for that reason, I mean it’s better to have a video with comments than having no comments at all or else it’s just boring without it.
@@raretendo6879 GO TO OHIO
@@DT21T You do realize this video wasn’t easy to make, it took a pretty damn long time to make sure to sync the audio together and making sure the timing of the videos your watching in this video is right. And I want people to comment on this video to hear their thoughts on it and talk about interesting stuff, if I didn’t put that disclaimer your insult comments “I hAtE ThE WaRnInG!!!!!!!!!!!!!>:(“ “gO tO oHiO” wouldn’t even appear in this video. Sounds like your too young to be on this website are you even a Thomas fan or into Lost Media and if your not why are you watching this video then. And I know kids like Thomas but teens and adults like Thomas as well, their the reason they’ve been keeping the franchise a float unlike Mattel. If you don’t like it fine, give it a dislike and move on, simple as that.
