We're thrilled to release our first ever series with the prestigious vocal producer, songwriter, arranger, and engineer Kuk Harrell! Hosted at Sphere Studios in Hollywood, this installment dives deep into the art and science of evoking, capturing, and embellishing a vocal performance. Referencing the multi-track vocal session of 'For You' by Why Don't We, Harrell auditions the demo recording, gives his opinion, then shares how he tracked and produced the material. He takes you through the various parts of the intricate pop vocal, comprising five male leads, octave doubles, harmonies, and ad-libs. He comments on the project from both a musical and technical standpoint - melodies, structure, stacking, tuning, tracking chains, plug-ins, and much more. Aside from teaching the key elements of his workflow, Kuk imparts his wisdom on the social and psychological aspects of coaxing the best possible take out of an artist in the studio.
His vocals are on point as well.
he has an amazing voice!!!
Years ago I sang in a children's choir for a song Kuk produced. Still stuck in my head.
one of the great star makers in the music industry. his attention to detail and connection to the emotion of singers and songs is second to none.
This series was one of my favorite Mix with the Masters series! Seriously helpful for those who do vocal production, and Kuk is one of the most legendary vocal producers of all time!
would u say the sub is worth it?

I first heard Kuk's work on JB Mistletoe album. Now everytime I hear a perfect pop vocal I look it up and it's his work damn near every time.
Beautiful!
Y'all helping me so much thank you
Clean n great production won't require much work in mixing and mastering
KUK
He’s my friend
Early squad where ya at!
It helps when a producers can sing and hear 👂 what others only see as dead space!
Official... gifted
wouldn’t mind listening to the finished record
❤
Damn, Kuk has some pipes 🔥
This looks like a trailer
Does this means Riri's album is completed?
🖤
Umm, mix engineer? That sounds pretty well mixed already.
He only creates perfect takes lol
That’s how the professional production world works, pro producers’ rough mixes are like 99% there....mixers are mostly doing artistic moves, not so much fixing mistakes
It’s done in a very well treated space probably with some outboard stuff
Name of the song?
😊#sweden
😘😘
Genial
Will your video come with Monsta X? I'm looking forward to
Wowh
I'm use to working with R&B vocalist and I think new singers need to start learning how to do natural vibratos. Having a Producer fill in fake vibratos with audio editing makes production not only laziness but sounds unnatural cutting corners. A Producer should assist a the Vocalists to get a great Vocal performance. Rodney Jerkins has said the same that technology can many times make production lazy. Autotune is another tool that's used and abused. I'm actually pretty tired of the auto tune trend that's long played our since the T-Pain era. I want to hear raw talent with no synthetic processing. All about being authentic.
that guy should never travel to sweden.. hahaha :D
@Jonas Schewelius why?
@@Abugoze3 Because his name means c*ck in swedish 😅

Kuk means c**k in swedish
Is it a trailer😂😂
He's a super talented guy with a great ear, obviously (his track record speaks for itself and it also shows in this annoyingly short teaser video), and a bit less obviously, perhaps, his own singing voice is far better and more masterfully controlled than the artist he is robotizing... oops, producing.
But to see that huge amount of punch-ins, cuts and edits on a single vocal line would make someone really good and confident in his or her own singing cringe or slap the producer & engineer - think Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury or Aretha or KD Lang or any great, expressive soul or rock singer.
Yes, studio vocal surgery is an efficient technique. But then there's also emotion, instinct, class, guts, balls, and authenticity.
Robot-like singing to achieve what?
Robot music.
