- Panorama Ridge is one of the best hikes near Vancouver. Hiking Panorama Ridge in one day is possible if you are up for the challenge. In this video I highlight the trail conditions on the way up to Panorama Ridge and show you what to expect on the hike.

I'm moving to Vancouver next month and this is the first major hike I want to tackle once I get there. Despite your warnings I still want to do it as a day hike. If you want to add camping you're only saving about 3 hours. But you now have the burden of lugging all your camping gear & food all the way up the ridge with you. How much is that - 30 lbs.? 40 lbs.? 50 lbs.? That would make the hike far more strenuous and less enjoyable. No thanks! If I do it I will start earlier at like 6am. That'll give me 15 hours of reasonable sunlight which means I could spend much more time at the peak than the mere 25 minutes you guys did. Plus more time for rest stops on the way up and down :)
Yeah definitely give yourself lots of time. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this hike, we were just pressed for time at the end because we had reservations in the evening. Enjoy!
You guys are amazing. I wanna do this in one day but not sure if my wife can do it. Otherwise maybe a 2 day hike and camp trip. How were your feet after 30km? We plan to do this last week of Sept 😁
I will admit my feet were really sore at the end of the day. I always bounce back the next day though. I did say that it would be nice to camp at the lake for a few nights and do the black tusk and panorama ridge while there.
Great video! :) I will be in Vancouver in September for 10 days and thinking of doing Garibaldi lake and Panorama ridge. Are both of these possible in 1 day and if I want to camp overnight, do I have to reserve a spot?
I don’t know how much you hike, I’m a pretty avid hiker and I was in great shape for Panorama Ridge and it still kicked my butt on the final few miles. It’s 30k just to do Panorama Ridge, so unless you start really early and are willing to pound the miles out, I wouldn’t recommend doing the Lake and Panorama in one day. You would just be rushing and not getting time to really enjoy it. If I could do it again I would hike up to Girbaldi lake, camp there and enjoy the lake on the first day, then hike up to panorama Ridge the next day. Yes, as of 2018 you need reservations at the campgrounds at Taylor’s Meadows and Lake Girabaldi campsites. This year might be easier to secure a spot though since COVID has kept many people from visiting Canada this year. Have fun! Hiking in that area is incredible! @@whereivebeenwandering thanks so much for your detailed response! Really appreciate it! I am in a pretty good shape but yes you are right, better to break it down in that case so that I enjoy both. I checked the spots for garibaldi and I couldn't find anything :( Also, I will be flying from Toronto so I won't be able to carry my tent and stuff. I might look at renting gear from Vancouver. Are there any other hikes you would recommend?
Joffre Lakes and Stawamus Chief are in the area, also amazing hikes. We stayed in Whistler as our base for exploring the area and it was really convenient to a ton of hikes and fun stuff to do. We visited the Capilano suspension bridge park on our drive out of Vancouver up to Whistler. One thing we did that I really loved was the Superfly Ziplines and the Full Areal Obstacle course one day. Yes, poles really help out a lot. The end of a super long hike is always the hardest because you just want to get back! Looking back, I’m glad I did it because the views were incredible! Are you headed there soon?
