It's the first railway review of the near year. Erm...395! Yeah, let's go with that. Totally planned hahaha...

95% of this video was done today. That's right. Ignoring the recording of the footage obviously, basically the majority of the script and editing was done all today though some mighty levels of powerworking. I scrapped the intro joke after the completley unexpected Strood section of the video. The joke there was then all spontaneous from me laughing loud enough almost out of my chair hahaha! Welp, no silly prizes to give for guessing all the stations today, however a satilite supposedly saw a blue rope like object fly out the atmosphere later today. Make of that what you will...

I rode these for the first time when I had my jolly down south in September, quite enjoyed it though 3 of the 4 units I went on smelled like a public toilet, oh well I'm almost 'nose-blind' to that living in the north...
I was surprised by how cheap the advance tickets are though, I was travelling from London to Gillingham on aforementioned trip and it only cost me £4 3 days before travelling!
Heh, I didn't even know you can get advance tickets on South Eastern routes, but I guess it makes sense. Also well done on the guessing yet again despite the cheeky Belgium clip I used :)
375s at 140mph? Literal bouncy castle on rails at that point
All it needs is some go faster stripes and a bodykit from an Escort cossie and it'll reach 190. Can't prove me wrong :D
🤣🤣🤣 apparently they can hit around 120mph out of service , or during testing etc. That doesent suprise me. Class 387s on full power get to 110mph very quickly and comformably.

The doors take forever to open because for some reason the 395 uses shinkansen door seal logic (ie unseals on door release) rather than IET door seal logic (unseals when the train drops below a certain speed).
That...makes alot of sense now that you mention it. It was Hitatchi's first train for the UK.
7:46, when I play this on Train Sim World, I always thought the game was lagging when I opened the doors. I was wrong! 😂
The idea of the game lagging just opening the doors wouldn't surprise me either honestly.
Asking a 375 to do 140 miles per hour, is like asking a Streetlite to not break down at the most inconvenient times possible - It just would be a terrible idea.

@@tenny_tenten The reports seem to vary at this point, but it'll rather be TFW or Northern.
I personally think the 153s in Burton/Long Marston PRM modded is a better semi permanent solution.

DC 395s= slow as a turtle (seriously they take 1 to 12 years to hit 70mph)
AC 395S=FLY LIKE A KITE !!! (Near 40 seconds to 60mph )
They do sound amazing compared to class 800s that's for sure, the motors are richer and consistently more audiable. Way better
I went on a Javelin for the first time recently... I was really impressed with the train and interior! 140mph is certainly the fastest now I've ever been on a train!

From what i dont get i might sound completely stupid but the fact that if the 375's are going to high soeed rail via bouncy castle w/ rails what is gonna happen with the 707's would they switch

I recorded some of these yesterday and hope to take a trip on them next week, if I don't try for HSTs instead (or just whatever LNER have if I can get to uni in time)
LNER don't have any HSTs anymore and haven't for some time. The only areas you can ride the HST now are Scotland and Cornwall.

I get the feeling that Southeastern would just go with 6-car IETs when it's time to replace the 395s. Oh wait, 6-car IETs don't exist, so I imagine they'll convince passengers to just make do with 5-car units instead.
Whatever it is, it'll need to be designed to run on HS1 as well as Network Rail.

I have never been on a class 395 let alone seen one in person, I would love to see a class 345 they have ruined my back and I rate them lower then the 70707070707070707070707070707 thing

@@physiocrat7143 The 395 and 411 are completely different trains, that were designed for different purposes, with a capital COMPLETELY so it's not fair to compare these two.

Actually, it is a like-for-llike comparison. They were operating on the same route, and both were designed for journeys of about 90 minutes. Both were 20 metre vehicles to the UK loading gauge. The bodyshell design configuration and seating layout of the 411 class was superior, both in as built and after their 1980s refurbishment.
Astonishingly, even the ride quality of the 411 class was better on the classic routes. The ride quality of the Hitachi's on HS1 is awful, especially over the bogies. 45 minutes of banging and shaking is tiring. The facing seats are mostly placed over the bogies, and if you are travelling with others it is preferable to sit opposite if you want to have a conversation..
There is no reason whatsoever why the same general design as the 411 could not have been followed ie 1.93 metre bays with 1.2 metre wide windows, doors close to the ends and at least 50% of the seats in facing bays; this would have been an efficient and lighter design.
The bogiesare another matter. Nobody seems to be able to design a smooth running bogie these days. After the BT10 and the bogies under the French Corail stock, it has been downhill all the way.

I was on a 395 yesterday (I had a day off work) and I quite liked the ride to Ashford from St Pancras, pretty smooth
I got caught out by how long the door takes to open though, silly me almost walked into it thinking it would open when the button was pressed 🥲

Smoother than the 375 I took back to Charing Cross 🤣 (though the Leccy wasn't too bad either)
