    Although this is over 10 years old, this was a huge help in helping finally "get it" on G1000 navigation methods. Thank you!

    I dont get garmin, they made this huge screen and no touch or keyboard, they have screens now 1/8 of this size and it's easier to use, it's like texting 20 years ago.

    That G1000 has some squirrelly effects( this was in a Cessna172). Three or four times now the autopilot was on and a simulation of a strom was entered. Most of the flight went as planned, but flying into a cloud was not a nice thing.
    Lighting, zero visibility, and the autopilot keep climbing.
    I took it off autopilot and flew below the cloud. Okay, I thought, maybe I can turn it back on.
    I did and the crazy thing went into a dive at 1200 feet/m.
    Turning it back off I regained control of the plane. Looked out the window. I could barely see the airport and manually landed the plane in a rain storm. The pilot killer - if your not extremely careful. I noticed that on the Cirrus vision, and others they have installed a button that levels the plane in case of emergency. I think they know about this problem and have tried to correct it in other aircraft.

    Just in case you haven't found out yet, and for others who want to know, this the G1000 training software made by Garmin themselves. Very very very useful for people that don't fly every day, this way you can review what you need to do with the G1000 for your next flight at home and you don't waste time in the airplane trying to re-learn everything.

    Now this was GREAT learning the new technology is a little daunting but as it becomes used more & more it will be the same. but its the cost for most of us
    I just don't have the 50,G's + to get it in my 303.
    But this video is so good

    When you are flying a plane such as TBM 850 which can fly up to 1800nm , you would prefer a system to make flying a bit easier for you. G1000 is not designed to be put on something like Cessna 140 or LSA aircraft.

    @robloxguggi I agree... I'm a gauge>glass man myself. I do like the G500, it's a great supplementary system, but the G1000 is too much.

  • @atcssct
    @atcssct Před 10 lety +6

    excellent video...any chance we can call the knobs big and little instead of inner and outer? while i think i know the difference, some people might think outer means furthest from the panel, and inner closest to the panel, which would mean the opposite of what is meant.

    @CPPA Před 14 lety

    @hersheytrojans01 Hmmm, I think the people that make this type of comment are initially overwhelmed by the glass complexities. it can be daunting to those not comfortable with this type of advanced technology in the cockpit. and, while the days of analogue gauges, NDB's, VOR's and paper flight plans are becoming obsolete, one need not equate 'simpler' cockpits with the spirit of flying. step up and embrace the challenge of learning the new technology...

      Larkland Morley it probably recognizes which airport the aircraft is located at and is used as a starting point; however if you wanted to change the initial fix then you could just put the cursor over it, hit clear, and enter, and put in you new waypoint.

    A very clear video on using the G1000 Flight Plan but way too much button pushing and scrolling for me. I'll stick with the traditional FMS. Too much glitz, not enough guts.

      +kristopher850 Blow it out your ass - I don't take orders from you, or anyone else. The fact that you're too stupid to figure out how to run a simple simulator is your problem, not ours.
