    Commercial electrician here, working construction in hot and humid south I have to say that button down shirts don't feel best with all their folds and seams, the cuffs don't stay tucked in gloves well and the collar catches on my neck gaiter I wear for dust protection. I've since through experience come to mostly wear upf rated lightweight quick dry moisture wicking long sleeves. My current favorite being the Carhartt LWD series. After that Spyder makes a loose swimming rash guard that's not bad but obviously these shirts offer little to no cut resistance that's the trade off. As for pockets I don't care about that my high vis vest has all the pockets I need.

    I'm not a trade worker, so forgive my ignorance. But how do folks not roast in all that polyester? My skin starts getting clammy 5 sec after putting on a poly shirt, which is fine if I'm doing a workout. But I don't understand how its comfortable to wear all day long doing work. Doesn't anyone wear chambray or light cotton twill shirts anymore?

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  Před 2 měsíci +16

      For sure, but often these synthetic fabrics are designed to perform a function like the Duluth. You could never get that thin with a natural fabric without falling apart. I prefer natural fabrics, but workwear is always a balance of durability and price.

    • @ChavsADV
      @ChavsADV Před 2 měsíci +4

      For me cotton is horrible. It gets wet and you are install locked into stagnant swamp mode. Poly shirts while they seem warm initially they are more “stable” as you sweat. I feel like dry cotton is great but you are not going to stay dry if it’s hot. A similar experience as this would be wool. I wear a wool base layer in the summer on my motorcycle and it ends up being cooler than wearing no base layer.

I would also love to see how these take grease and oil, how bad do they stain. I know the work I do is extremely hard on clothing so its hard to justify any real money on it. • @paololololol
      @paololololol Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@CarlMurawskifits accurately for a big chest , medium opening cuffs and forearm sleeves are good for a larger person like me and the chest size is accommodating for people who lift or have moobs. Dual front chest pockets but no gussets or stretch, so if you’re a running a spare tire you may feel a little tightness around the midsection and the collar doesn’t have a collar stay or button stay so it just flaps around which is probably the only thing I dislike about it. Since it’s cotton and perhaps created like this, it does and will have eventual color fade and wear/whiskers which I enjoy thoroughly.

    Can you do a review on Ciano Farmer and Tin Duck Denim jackets. Can you do a 1 for 1 comparison of these jackets to John Ship? These two brands dont have any recognition for the quality of work they are doing.

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Good idea, but it can be really hard to get these items. Ship John is notorious for that, and I've heard Ciano Farmer Denim is the same way with long lead times. So just getting the products to compare will be difficult.

      @CarlMurawski I searched the internet and on youtube and I can't seem to find a really dedicated video review of these two jackets. Maybe the tin duck denim, but nothing on the Ciano Farmer. It's a shame because these two brands can definitely do bespoke custom jackets if you ask them. I'm stuck choosing between these Two brands. One fashion semi work jacket(Ciano) or the other work semi fashion jacket if customized(Tin Duck).

    Duluth Trading sizes have always been screwed up. Their mediums are more like a large or even larger. I stopped buying stuff from them because of this stupid idea.

      Too tight and their pants both fell apart on me. They make it right when you send them back but carhartt and 511 tactical lasts longer for me. Also you can buy 3 or 4 pair for the price. I’ll probably try 1620 again because I do love American made, and the winter fleece lined work pants are really good minus the zipper blowing out making my manhood freeze 🥶

      @@NickLibby-bm7ts You busted through ballistic nylon? It’s not a 1620 issue.

      @NickLibby-bm7ts Před 2 měsíci

      My first pair fell apart after a car ride first day, the crotch area had a hole when I got out of my work van before even starting work that day, they replaced them and that pair is still alive but way too tight. My winter work pants the zipper came unstitched. Definitely a 1620 issue both times and they owned up to it. I must have been unlucky but in their reviews you can find similar issues/complaints.
