    Man, Tamron really hit it out of the park here. I’m in the market for a lens in this focal range and it’s a really tough decision between this and Sigma’s latest offering. The Sigma is a bit more feature rich but at a cost of being bulkier and heavier. Optically though, they’re neck and neck with each other. It’s a great time to be a Sony shooter with so many good lens offerings right now.

      At the moment you still get the best options of lenses in the E-Mount. Good news that Sigma, Tamron and Viltrox are pushing their own levels again and again. A Viltrox lens at 16mm f 1.8 just came out and so many other decent options. I also own the Sigma 24-70 but I think on this focal range I'm gonna choose the Tamron because it is so much lighter!

    Fantastic. Now we just need a comparison video between this lens and the Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8. Assuming the 35-150 is just as good optically, I'd much rather have that on my camera.

      Thats the Battle i have for the last month
      Buy the 35 to 150 or buy 2 lenses and have 28 to 180
      I would have less weight on the camera and could even save Money
      OR Go to the 28 to 200 Superzoom but loose the 2.8 and save even more money and weight

    Dear Chris! I need your competent opinion on this lens. Today I got this lens, but the first joy disappeared when I installed it on my Sony A7M3. At first, the camera did not recognize it, there was a black screen. After reconnected, everything seemed to go well, but the focus not only works too loudly, as if with a quiet crunch when focusing quickly, but also when I release the shutter button (when it is pressed halfway to focus), a slight knock is heard and the image in the viewfinder jumps a little. And so on every time after half-pressing. I've never seen anything like this, there's nothing like this in the first version, I used that. This is apparently a defect in the focus? Or is it due to the optical stabilizer, which was damaged during delivery? When I shake the lens a little, something taps inside. As I understand it, the optical stabilizer cannot be turned off, am I right? Was there something similar on the lens you tested? And thank you very much for your reviews! I've been your follower for a long time!

    Looked up all the 70-200 alternatives, but Sigma art and sony gm are also over 1,2Kg
    Only sony F4 and the Tamron F2.8 have about 800gr of weight. Now that Sonys F4 Mark2's change in focal length isnt internal anymore the tamron looks like the best option to me atm.

      @@Whatsgoodmydude2222 Please keep proximity to the facts:
      The OP is the toxic piece in this thread. He is telling us a lens like the reviewed would cost 8k if Canon made. He is BS talking, a 100-400 costs 0.6k and the 70-200 4.0 1.4k, very competitive in performance, seize, weight and price.
      My comment was reflecting him with sarcasm, nor your answer.
      I'm no brand fanboy, my last 4 purchases of lenses were from 4 different brands. I am very happy shooting them on a R5 or R. Yes, even one Canon glas was among them: RF28 pancake, highly recommended!

    • @peterebel7899
      @peterebel7899 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Whatsgoodmydude2222 Yes, Canon is on the path not just rebuilding in mirrorless but thinking in customers' needs in specific markt segments and shaping new products to fulfill these needs. I highly appreciate this driving force for innovation.
      For the Pros there are never seen before lenses in the core of needs like 100-300 2.8 replacing the 20-200 2.8 and the 300 2.8 with one shot, the 24-105 2.8 for obvious needs in Sports & more, the 28-70 2.0, ....
      At the very same time they are opening the FF markt with very attractive lenses like the 100-400, the STM 600&800, ....
      Some photographer look like they don't get the advantages ("I wanna have my 50 1.4". I sold my EF while holding an FD and purchasing both RF, two Voigtländer and one Zeiss over the time, giving a variety in just one vocal length at the same body never seen before, all by far better than the old "must have".
      I doubt those spoiling toxic comments to some dedicated brands even to be photographers, at least they are very unsatisfied with their very own life ...
      When I wrote about Canon, I do see and respect Fuji's Approach to get the own market segments, Nikon's approach to catch especially some prosumer's needs, Sony's push to make mirrorless happen, ...
      (Not to forget about the pushes in the 3rd party lens market)
      Good times for the customers, challenging times for the industry.

    I'm currently deciding whether to get a Tamron. I was reading reviews on the previous model from someone who'd bought 2 over a 2 year period after the first one stopped working. They said the second one did too.
    I wonder if anyone's had issues for longevity with Tamron lenses?

    • @Vantrakter
      @Vantrakter Před 2 měsíci

      Tamron has a 5yr warranty in the EU, I would think they have a longer than 1 yr warranty in most places, so why one would purchase two in a two year period, and then have the second one "stop working" too, sounds rather rare.

    • @quikee9195

      I don't think there's a reliable inference from "this amount of fringing" on a B&W test chart to "will almost never manifest in real-life photos." Real conditions can render fringing either quite less or quite more than seen on a B&W test chart. Anyhow, even heavy fringing in photos often doesn't palpably manifest in those photos themselves.
