I had lived at the union rescue mission with my 4 boys for 8 months n now I'm in my own apartment with my rest of my kids the union rescue mission saved my family.

This is the show we’ve been needing. I’m tired of all the gossip talk shows just highlighting celebrities for 85% of the show. Kelly’s show highlights equal parts of everything but she makes a stronger focus on highlighting the good people do. This makes her show inspiring and gives every day people the recognition they deserve for their amazing work they do so humbly. I’m tired of talk shows where the hype is just on jokes and celebrities. This shows hype is on doing good and Kelly has made a talk show like no other. I’m so proud to be a Kelly fan.

People are dying in this nation due to poverty, homelessness, and lack. These celebrities flaunt their wealth as if everyone in the world cares what they’re wearing, driving, and how they’re living. As a low-income working person, I want to see someone and something I can relate to. Good for her show! A positive light in a beacon of trash shows on the networks. No person should be without in such a rich nation, it’s absolutely shameful!

In a few interviews I’ve seen she says she’s rather been dressed down everyday and if she’s not having an event or show she’s in jeans and a tshirt

Is she not supposed to better herself and do what she pleases with her money cause she earned it? I mean what is she supposed to do? She donated a whole computer lab to this shelter, sent the lady to compete her schooling and I’m sure donates money to plenty of places. What have you done? These are the types that need not listen or look at this show, too many positive vibes for their soulless black hearts! Empathy is a great virtue to have, one many leave at the door as soon as they’re rich. She’s unchanged from all the fame, this leads me to believe others choose to live in ignorance of greater issues.

i cant believe just 4 years ago when i moved to cali at 14 with my 15 yr old sister and mom. This was a shelter we stayed at. I'm 18 now and still here but its not easy. The URM was a place that gave us food, shelter, and medicine. I went from living in a 4 bdr house and two cars to nothing but a storage unit and suitcases. This place saved us for those first 2 months of homelessness. Kelly thank you for sharing this place with the world because i brings tears to my eyes just knowing how 14 yr old me endured a traumatic situation like this give people hope with my story.

Kelly Clarkson‘s new talk show is going to be the death of me! I literally cannot stop crying! Even though I definitely felt that Kelly was a very genuine famous person it was confirmed for me when Simon Cowell made a point of saying that she is the same person that we see on TV. Kelly is showing what a badass and beautiful woman she is starting and ending with her incredible character as a human being FIRST and not someone that is struggling to compete with all the Hollywood BS! Kelly is in a league of her own! I loved Kelly before but now I just man... sorry still crying... I went through a similar struggle, although not with prison but I did almost lose my children. Fortunately I was able to overcome this as well And thank you Kelley for staying humble and using your celebrity status to make us forget a tough day and also to shed light on situations such as the homelessness population here in Los Angeles. Several things stood out for me in this clip:
1. Alexandra Monsibaez, URM PR Coordinator, saying “she’s *an* addict,” not was. Gave me the goosies for some reason. You can hear the regrets through her words as if it never left her despite being 14 years clean.
2. Kelly stayed throughout to celebrate the birthday party and broke down in tears mid taping.
3. Rosalind’s (sp) face, URM resident, being so happy for Alexandra when she was gifted with the uni admission.
4. Also, Megan Trainor’s instant reaction with that cutest laugh!
TL;DR Seeing people being kind and so supportive for each other really made my day.

You never *WERE* an addict or an alcoholic, no matter how many years you've been clean and sober.
Once an addict?
Always an addict.
That's how they keep it real.
That's how they keep themselves in check.
Every addict, every alcoholic, knows: they're just one drink or one fix away from falling off the wagon.
Sometimes really hard.
I lived for several years in veteran's transitional housing communities here in Prescott, Arizona, with fellow veterans who are addicts, and alcoholics.
The reality for them?
It's an every day struggle to stay clean and sober.
And, the sad reality is, not all of them win that battle.
(Sometimes they don't win.
Too many lost the battle permanently.)
They have to fight their addiction daily.
The reality is, they really have to renew their commitment to sobriety every single day.
One day at a time.
14 years is 5,110 days.
Think about that.
And you renew your commitment every one of those 5,110 days.
That's why you're always *AN* addict.
You never *WERE* an addict.
You still are an addict.
Every single day.
What is it people say when they don't want to admit that they're crying?
"I'M not crying. YOU'RE crying."
Except...I am crying.
It's been a long time since a talk show made me cry.
(Maybe Ellen DeGeneres's talk show was the last time.)
But Kelly, you're touching people's lives in the most amazingly positive ways.
And you're so perfectly natural and at home as a talk show host it's just awesome to watch you come into your own.
So human, so genuine, and so down to Earth.
And when things touch you, your tears just come so naturally, it's impossible not to cry with you.

This episode hits differently when you’ve lived on Skid Row at the Union Rescue Mission. My ma, 3 siblings, and I moved to California in 2012 when we were younger. We unwillingly had to move to a shelter when finance became crippled. I remember our first day as our cab pulled up in front of the shelter. Not gonna lie. It was not an easy evening because the idea and the life of homelessness and Skid Row were foreign to us. I still have my shelter badge ID picture to this day. Praise be to God.
