      @narc hey narc loving the content for a game that doesn't exist. could I get your opinion on some of the spells and key presses and my idea for bringing it to the next level? Did you ever try lost ark? If not, I really have to say one thing that game does right on its heaping pile of p2w was the way keypresses and skills interact. They had unique key presses like where you would hold the press and release it in a window for extra damage. Or just straight hold to charge and the longer you hold the more damage. They had non charge based multi press. Where when you hit the skill you have like 6 second to use it 2 more time then the CD starts. I think this would be a good topic for a video because right now it seems very basic as far as skills go. Like wow for example it's only instant cast/cast. And while this works its not very interactive for the players where lost ark its almost like you are playing a fighting game with combos you can pull off. If they went this route they could even add it into the talents so it's more optional for bonus damage if players want that or skip it to keep it more simple. I would love to hear your thoughts on this as no other mmo has fully taken advantage of dynamic skills like lost ark.

      So I agree that the channelling isn't really that fun looking right now, but I wholeheartedly disagree with a mini game solution. That is terrible for immersion and we might as well go play Skull and Bones. Instead I propose making the channelling a lot more interactive and fun. In order to maintain the channel a player would need to stay facing the spike, stay in one spot, and not use a main hand attack or ability. It also takes longer to complete the channel. Then I picture a tank with a shield casting the channel with one hand, and using shield abilities and buffs and a limited portion of their kit. Their goal would be to do everything they can to maintain those3 basic requirements for long enough, and hopefully get support along the way. That would be way more immersive of a fight in my opinion.

      @durabaale sorry for the misunderstanding. I was actually talking about skill design for the classes, not the channeling. As if right now, it looks exactly like wows skill design, which is pretty dated, especially considering what can be done nowadays.

    Would love to see the person that successfully finishes channeling the godspike get an ability to attack the other team. Like a lightning bolt or aoe explosion that wipes out some enemies. Would feel really cool to be the one person to do it and a nice way to end that event

The winning team would get a bump in the points for the overall war from the kills, but it wouldn't be a long lasting effect or anything. Just felt underwhelming when they charged the godspike and got swarmed by the enemy team afterwards

    Instead of just channeling they could do what hell divers 2 does with the arrow system. Would give them something to do and make it "feel" like they're participating

    An area around the channeling could be an alright solution. Whoever has the most people in the area starts building up their channel; that way it's about getting the most troops over there, and killing the enemy around the channel. It'd be a tug of war with everyone being a key piece.

    As a main tank myself that thoroughly enjoys the role of objective channeler, I have to argue a bit against your suggestion with the Godspike. A tank may not view a contested channel as an afk task, it's a central viewpoint that is key for assisting call-outs and requires the player to be alert in case they need to call out a potential shift of focus to bursting the channeler. An additional mini game akin to DBD generators would just add boring tedium to the channel, not adding any meaningful enjoyment.
    A counter suggestion would be a skill bar exclusive to the channeler, utility skills with long cooldowns focused toward self preservation or assisting allies fighting close-by, something with skill expression coming from knowing when that potentially once a channel skill is needed to swing a battle in your favor is how to add meaningful engagement to an individual channel.
    Since the generator suggestion can be interpreted as a way to speed up the channel, as the idea wasn't expanded beyond its comparison, I also want to give more general opinion on altering channel speed. I believe an objective so critical to content involving so many people, the channel should have well defined lengths of time, even if that time is not explicitly told to the players. With shifts requiring well defined group involvement such as the Scholars they've shown, not an individual mini game done by the channeler, which would have no possible outside input.

    I disagree with your point about channeling/capture mechanics, except when the channel time is excessively long. One example, I don't like the capture-over-time based on proximity, where having more players in range speeds up the cap, just rewards Zerging. I find it much more exciting and rewarding when a single player sneaks in to capture or another single player sneaks in to interrupt the capture. I don't feel adding puzzles or other mechanics is necessary.

      Just add diminishing returns to the amount of points gained per person in the circle.
      more people on the channel already increases it's completion already.
      There is no sneaking in when there's a giant battle literally surrounding it.
      Just do this: Just make it a wide circle which gives more points with the more people you have inside it. With diminishing returns, more players=less points per new player in the circle.
      And then add 2 more circles within really close proximity(on inside that building they were right next to). That way there are group decisions on which ones to hol

    Channel for several minutes and lose it all is completely fine. That person is not bored believe me. He will give info about surroundings, he will need to be tanky enough, maybe specifically tailored and made tankier for that job etc. These things are quite fun.
    And about "losing it all" part, again it is the thing you must achieve in the first place, "not lose". Easy logic. Lineage was absolutely fun with those last minute rushes and intense fights. Somebody pulling off a miracle and doing some incredible shit at that last moment. These are "fun.

    That channeling system exactly how it was in L2 sieges. As a person who have been on those sieges like 100 times I can tell that it can be extremely fun and extremely unbalanced.
    If I remember correctly you have not seen castles in L2 and let me tell you. They designed very well. There is a room where you have to channel in order to win siege. That room connected to balcons, first flor, second flor and throne room and attackers have access to every one of them after they enter the castle. Moves inside was usually a key to success (if both sides are equal in power), but I dont see how this system can work when fight goes on open fields where enemy can literally just rush custer and suicide.
    Rushing almost never worked in L2 bc how layered castles are but there... I can see how it will super annoying to cast just bc of suicide bombs.
    And yes, you right that casters are usually some sort of melees bc they were useless in mass pvp.

    They should just make passive blessings or something that you confer on members of your unit. You receive these blessings from the time and location of your charachter's creation. It would add a range of variability to encounters between fully blessed units, and give a players' character certain value to far away lands that didn't receive those regional and astrological blessings.

    When you are channeling the objective, I agree you should have some mini game to do and in doing so it takes time off the channeling clock. And when you get kicked off and channel again that time is still off the clock.

    VERY good question about the forest and lighting. I'll be honest, I got a stick up my ass when it comes to lighting. The previous lighting in the forest was 300x better.

    Yo did you see the Objective Party System in the forums? I thought it answered a few of the problems you raised at the loss of a little bit of player agency with party forming. People shut it down but I thought it was a cool idea actually.

    I would suggest that the channeling minigame could be some kind of writting in the chat random words that are given to the channelers. So they kinda look like they are "casting and conjuring to the gods" as they speak divine words to the godspike. For roleing purposes people will see that they are "talking something" and for netcoding its pretty easy and low charging servers data so its fluid for all

    The "new standards" set by AOC about having one open world with massive pvp are.....ancient, Lineage 2 had that 20 years ago and still does in private servers, Throne and Liberty has that with the best performance in any mmorpg, the Sieges had 2000 players with no performance issues.

    As we saw how Nod Wars works in "lab enviroment", how does it work when/if a 3rd party would appear?
    Let's say that 2 nods are battling each other and a group of PK'ers try to join in disrupting the battlefield.

    Looking good. Hope they improve character models and animations to give more fluidity, impact, and stylish to gameplay.
    Plus, VFX are a little too bright with too many particles, which pollutes the vision to have a clean perception of the battle.
    At the moment, it just looks like Warhammer Online (a 2008's game) with prettier graphics, although it's just an alpha footage. I hope they keep the good work improving the game.

    no minigames it's stupid just make them move in a circle or towards a point around the flag to proceed the capture bar so they can do w/e they want meanwhile even fight but if they die or someone enemy steps in there then it stops but it won't move the bar towards the group with the most people and needs to be clicked to start and kep by that side till the one who started dies and someone else clicks it.

      Half on point. Just make it a wide circle which gives more points with the more people you have inside it. With diminishing returns, more players=less points per new player in the circle.
      And then add 2 more circles within really close proximity(on inside that building they were right next to). That way there are group decisions on which ones to hold and where to send people. But at the same time you don't want all your people on one point cause of the diminishing returns. This gives a bunch of strategy to the gameplay.

    Some good points. Im still wondering about the mass pvp gameplay though. This was unorganized and I imagine not what thungs will actually look like. It reminded me off wow mass pvp where its just people blindly throwing aoe spells and no singular person really has much impact. Would be tragic if it ended up like that. Or if there is no aoe burst strong enough to get through healers so we have to resort to single target nukes like the snipe

    i dont know if nobody noticed or if you havent talked about it yet but i noticed that as a player i cant see how much hp my enemy has, that makes it hard to get a feel of how much dmg you actually do and how close i am killing my enemy

      It is intentional - the health bar is removed in chunks of 25% - the intention is to combat exactly the thing you want to do. ;)

    Quantity has a quality all its own. Unless you limit numbers of players, zerging will still be very effective. AOC's very large map and traveling limitations are mitigators to zerging strategically.
    Tactically, numbers will matter. Eventually, everyone has good gear if not great gear. Everyone has a maxed level class and knows how to play it. Early advantages in level, experience and gear go away over time. Numbers will be the key to victory.
    At first, smaller warbands may defeat larger due to class skill and coordination but humans learn. Warband metas on organization and coordination will evolve. Once this happens, two will beat one, ten will beat five, one hundred will beat fifty, two hundred will beat one hundred, etc.
    Crying and whining about getting zerged is just being a bytch. Get over it. You want to keep your stuff? Develop reliable allies and be a reliable ally.

    If those effects can be tuned with some kind of slider it would be great. I really dont like, I dislike to be precise, when PC game looks like some mobile flashy childish game, where those spell effects are main source and tool to keep people interested.

    Kinda a weird feeling, I been on that copium train for this game for years, and now that it's ramping up, my interest has died down considerably...I'm sure once I start seeing cool stuff I'll be right back to my old ways, but getting sick of being spoon fed this thing an inch at a time, they need to just jam that baby in there.

    No trees, person or objects block spells.
    Spell track insanely around objects, completely removing any skilled pvp aspect.
    Jump animation is scuffed.
    In general all player controller animations are scuffed.
    Spell fx look worse than asset store ones in some cases. They look very cheap.

    The only issue I've noticed is that this game seems to only favor players who can devote all their time to it, giving them advantages like the mayor system and potentially more in the future. People with jobs and other responsibilities may not be able to compete or enjoy these features.

      That applies for all the mmorpgs out there. The more game time you have the better you will be thats a general rule. Would you like to have a mayor or a guild leader who logs in for 30 minutes per day? Some positions are for players with more time.

      It is intended however. Steve wanted to have a modern game but with that kind of sandbox direction. There are other games what are more action oriented / theme park MMOs, etc. However even in a game like this you can enjoy your stay. Just forget to be the most important person on the server. In a player run world/economy you can do so many interesting things. Just being there can be fun, watching events on the server and participating.

      You're kinda right. Intrepid is providing more to people who provide more time to the game. However, they are at least allowing people who don't have all the time to spend on the game access to certain things that other games like New World would require your undivided attention to just to participate in. So there at least is somewhat of a balance. I certainly don't have the time to be a mayor or anything. But it won't withhold me from a lot of the content I wanna do as far as I can tell.

    The amount of people complaining and pointing out the lack of polish, despite you ending every video with the catchphrase "..a game thatbquite literally doesn't exist." is baffling. As if people think this is it, and A2 is going to be 1.0, when it's also been stated they're focus is on the backend and mechanics befofe they fully polish everything.
    It's unfortunate.. I don't understand.

    You said it yourself, this game is gonna be a huge zerg fest. The fact that the devs aren't explaining how they will keep the zerg broken up means they don't have a solution. It's a fundamental issue with open world pvp, you're *going* to have to instance the pvp to an extent in any given battle or it will invariably become a political numbers game. You *could* just buff one side correspondingly to how under populated they are in a given battle, but how do you fine tune that on top of fine tuning the balance between all the class combinations? I get the feeling the pvp in this game is gonna be a train wreck and I'd rather just not engage in it.

    If you want pvp in an mmorpg, it has to be zerg, the pvp competition is a meme, the fun is building the alliance, guild and the war itself like real wars. I mean, it is not League of Legends type of pvp and should not be.

      But they are creating this game for boomers.

    They need to not focus on pvp at all period. Maybe less than 1% of people enjoy pvp… sadly that’s me… but they need to capture the other 99%. Ashes Steven DO NOT focus on PvP anymore period it doesn’t matter at all it will come naturally and be more fluid with less focus if that makes sense. Focus on world building and pve content. Every single PvP mmo is a failure literally name one with a substantial player base that focused on PvP… mortal online 1100 players right now black dessert 19000 (not purely PvP) Gloria victis failed there are so many to name none of which are played anymore. Focus world building pve then maybe PvP later when the game is fun if you want to succeed. I’m already invested and I’ll see you all in alpha 2 lol

      Yep, I'm with you. The game already sways towards the side of PvP and the corruption system non consensual pvp system already guarantees the entire game is PvP, guaranteed
      They need to put some heavy focus on PvE to offset the imbalance if they are going for PvX.
