- All over New York, people are falling asleep and their dreams are becoming reality. A rogue Sandman has plans to put everyone to sleep in order to bring peace to the world, despite the fact that they will be asleep for 500 years. Egon realizes how to beat him, but falls sleep before he can say it. One by one, Ray, Peter and Egon are put to sleep, until only Winston is left. Knowing that he can't stop the Sandman alone, Winston tries to figure out what Egon had realized, but couldn't say. It is only with the help of Albert Einstein (from Egon's dream) that Winston is able to figure out what to do. He returns to the firehouse, where he tells Janine his plan. Janine falls under the Sandman's spell and falls asleep as Winston is cornered by the Sandman. In Janine's dream, she transforms herself into a Ghostbuster as she hits the Sandman from behind and, with the help of Slimer, traps him.

Based on the blockbuster films, this action-packed animated series starts a decade after the original Ghostbusters saved New York City from ghosts, goblins and ghouls. All the guys have left town, except Egon, now teaching a Paranormal Studies class at the local university. But Zuul, the all-powerful demon, has awakened from hibernation to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting masses. Desperate to recruit a new team, Egon and the plucky Janine turn to four of his teenage students: Kylie, a genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of the occult; Eduardo, a hip slacker with a crush on Kylie; Garrett, a wheelchair-bound athlete with a hot temper; and Roland, a “gentle giant” mechanical whiz. It's only a matter of time before Egon, Janine, old pal Slimer and the “kids” band together to rid the city of the evildoers.

The sandman dosent seem necessarily evil...he says he wants peace, no war, no strife, just pleasant dreams...he was basically foreshadowing quarantine...
He was good but he lacked understanding of the mortal body
and went against the other sandmen, because they called him a lunatic by trying to put the entire World to sleep. Kind of like the plot Madara wanted in Naruto. But like Madara he was wrong and lost

"The Real Ghostbusters" is one of the funniest cartoons ever! I wish they did a few more seasons, maybe up to 10 seasons on Saturday Mornings. But 7 seasons is not bad at all!
Maybe it's just me, but I swear Ray Stantz sounds a lot like Fred Jones from the Scooby-Doo cartoons, and Peter Venkman sounds a lot like Garfield. Was that Frank Welker voicing Ray and Peter?
Frank voiced Ray, and Lorenzo Music (Garf) voiced Peter!
@@theratbellion Lorenzo did the first ABC season and the syndicated episodes. He also played Peter's dad, too. It was the "third season" (aka "second ABC season") that Dave Coulier did Peter.
Also, Arsenio Hall was Winston until the "fourth season"/"third ABC season" when Buster Jones (who was known as "Black Vulcan" on "Super Friends," "Twiggy Sanders/Spaghetti Man" on "Super Globetrotters" and "Blaster" in "Transformers Generation 1") took over the role. (Mostly because "The Arsenio Hall Show" was taking off at that time.)
After Music passed, Welker took up the mantle of Garfield.

Garfield was also voiced by the Peter Venkman actor from the movie in the Garfield movie that came out in the 2000s. Why didn't they hire Dave Coulier instead of Chris Pratt for the new one?

This is one of my top 3 all time favorite ghosts \ episodes along with The Boogie Man Cometh and When Halloween Was Forever, oh the episode with Cthulhu is Really good too and the episodes have some of the best animation segments in the series. As for the later episodes there weren't as many great ones but Flip Side is an all timer aswell.

Annie Potts was very attractive during 80s-90s. She looked way more beautiful in Designing Women than on the Ghostbusters

Slimmer's character simply liked the character for the naughtiness youth but bcoz Mr.Director didn't like it than it'd being transformed to become a clumsy ghost called *Slimmer

This show was awesome until it became SLIMER and the Real Ghostbusters. By the time they attempted to course correct, it was too late. I loved this show, and I think I may love it more as an adult.
