- “When the eternal throne of the heavens came, the world was made anew."
One of the biggest mysteries in Genshin Impact pertains to the nature of the First Descender, known generally to be the Heavenly Principles. According to "Before Sun and Moon" of the Byakoyakoku Collection, the First Descender, or Primordial One, may have been Phanes...
So who really is the Primordial One?
Most definitely Phanes. But most definitely not just Phanes.

What about Chaos? Chaos in Greek Mythology existed before time, and everything in the world. Darkness or the abyss, if you will. Which makes sense for the Primordial One. As for the sinner, they may be Erebus who is the personification of darkness and where the souls of the dead travel to Hades. Now, since Teyvat is upside down that would mean everyone in Teyvat might be dead.
Chaos is definitely an interesting case; from what I understand about Chaos, it existed, as you said, before everything, it is the void/abyssal state before the presence of Erebus, Nyx, Chronos, etc.. However, when it comes to Orphism, there are so many variations, some say that Erebus was born of Chaos, others of Chronos, so the timelines are easily jumbled which is why I didn't tap into it that much- it gets really confusing! Erebus definitely could be a candidate for the Sinner, though; & I know people definitely have theories on everyone in Teyvat being dead, which certainly is plausible.
@@kaerois Which means that saving Teyvat is impossible because it's already been destroyed or was never real in the traditional sense.
Tsurumi Island has plenty of hints on what the nature of Teyvat could actually be. A smaller version of the bigger thing, it has it's own cataclysm, the loop kept repeating, and it involves a child at the center of it all. (Ruu and Paimon.) What finally stops the loop is the Traveler, and Ruu ceases to be.
I wonder if this foreshadows Paimon's fate. Or maybe everyone is just like Ruu, stuck in the same cycle until they are finally free.
That would be very bittersweet but also very sad. But the real truth has yet to be revealed, maybe the cycle can be stopped and the lives of the world's inhabitants are preserved in some form. Fontaine's inhabitants were fated to be dissolved but Focalors stopped that from happening by altering how such fate occurs, it still happens, but the outcome changes. When the Traveler reached Tsurumi Island, there was not much that they could've done to find another way to save Ruu. But maybe there is still a chance for Teyvat's people. Teyvat is in it's final samsara, there are no more future civilizations to be made.
How the Irminsul functions, pretty much means that what has happened before, is doomed to repeat itself. It happened with King Deshret and his people, and it has happened again between Egerias/Focalors and their people. The fates of past characters are destined to be repeat in some form for the future generations.
@@kaeroisOf Cronos, son of Gaea and Ouranous and Titan of Harvest or Chronos, Primordial Deity of Time? Even if in popular culture they have by now become one entity, before the Roman’s conquest of Greece they were two very different entities, and that could be very important for any potential analysis.
@@kaeroisuhm when did it ever say erebus was born of chronos in orphism it was said he created the primordial egg or nyx created the primordial egg but i like to think nyx created it as the older orphic myths depicts nyx as creating also isnt it kinda funny people call laylah othrr side the wisdom seele and compare her to magical girl seele from herrscher of nyx skin also nyx means night mother night but mother night can be translated as mother laylah as well erebus can also be the serpent he is darkness and im egypt the name ourobouros sounds similar to erebus
This video is amazing I NEED to know where the sound reach is from its sounds so familiar. I had literal butterflies when you was reading at 1:25
I don't think the oh my god versus oh my archons bit makes sense considering the archons are known to be gods by the people of teyvat. even if they were unaware of the gods who existed before the archon war they are still fully aware that the archons are in fact gods.
But he only said God rather than gods. And since the abyss don't worship the gods of Teyvat it really wouldn't make any sense.
@@PhoenixFlight394 it was a human who said it?? i'll need to rewatch the vid when i wake up bc i don't remember what they said abt the abyss. but i know plenty of polytheists who also say "oh my god" instead of "oh my gods" so that argument doesn't work either
@Fritzi-de4cx true, but regardless it is an interesting theory that I hope that Genshin expands on nonetheless (btw I'm pretty sure it was one of the abyssal creatures that said the line)
i was playing it off as a joke somewhat, but it is interesting given that barbara, the clergy, and even venti himself say things such as “thank barbatos;” the colloquial term of “god” is used to reference what each archon represents (i.e. the “god of contracts”), but not God as an omnipotent deity. i’m assuming that adding “oh my God” is really just an oversight in writing, but who knows?!
@@kaerois I honestly think k that hoyoverse would not overlook anything. Everything in the storyline is there for a reason.
finally someone talks about ananke chronos and aether. and aether is the cosmic egg itself or considered the father of phanes
i believe that the time and fate thing
i believe welkin lady represents the fate the fate goddes, the fate of this world" heimarmene" heimarmene represents the moiras and the gods we saw in celestia in the manga also looks like the moirais the fate sisters whose rules the fate(past present and future).
The note found in the narzissenkreuz ordo
-...To excise the self is not to die, but rather to die before death. That way, there is no life to be ended. Thus may one achieve eternity. This step is vital, for by this, may one avoid receiving a Vision by some error. To receive a Vision to [sic] sell oneself to the "fate" of this world - to Heimarmene, and to evermore lose the chance to walk the correct path.
@@Enochnes certainly! Genshin is riddled with imagery of the Moirai, especially when it comes to the three Moon Sisters (Minsleif just made a video on the Moon Sisters that is very good, I highly recommend checking that out!)
@@kaeroisoh i watched that but i refuse some points, i think the 4 shades could not be the moon sisters bc they are already the lovers of the moon sisters the morning stars that story tells us the real story of teyvat the kingdom of the moon sisters "heimarmene the fate of this world" istaroth is the morning star itself from ishtar/aphrodite thing, also the phosphoros and hesperus being morning stars and eveninf star and the primordial one is the demiurgos a.k.a yalbadaoth( that is also archangel samael a.k.a lucifer morningstar) the morning stars are the first descenders the history of teyvat surroundes by the lies
And that is the reason of why tsurumi people used lunar eclipse and solar eclipse on the murals, in the begining there was a moon after that the stars came and the sun replaces the moon and After that sun also leaves, and just celestia the floating island remains
