This was my thought. West and Central Africans played a role in selling our ancestors to Europeans in the transatlantic slave trade, displacing millions of people to a whole other continent and resulting in 250+ years of enslavement + 100 years of racial segregation and still the inequality we face today. These regions need to at the very least acknowledge their role in what happened and support those whose families were displaced and went through the worst in the Americas - getting their reparations. It’s the right thing to do.

Why talk about slavery of our ancestors when there is “labor slavery” that still exist today in 17 or more countries and that do not include forced child labor for such work as mining cobalt and lithium. Three of those countries listed that still practice “labor slavery” today are in Africa which are: Liberia, Mauritania, and South Sudan. According to the “World Economic Forum” there are 94 countries where slavery is still legal today in 2024. According to records in the internet there are over 50 million slaves in the world today. I visited Canada no too long ago, no matter the country the African come from, when they meet one other black, they try to turn their head to the opposite direction and at 98%. A Jamaican told me if a black salutes him,first thing he asks her or him is caraibeen or from the us. They do any to get even a smile from people you can look at once, the only thing that counts, a non black person.
