Love the studio tours coverage - thank you! My favorite tour has always been the Warner Brothers tour. It has changed a lot over the years but I just noticed they now have 5 different tours, all different lengths & price points. Daphne mentioned how she loves the old Hollywood Classics. It looks like Warner Brothers is now offering a 3 hour Classics Tour, 1 hour with a guide & the rest self paced...just thought I'd pass the info on to you!

Very cool. I worked in the Marx Brothers building for a couple years and could roam the lot as pleased. One time I stumbled into a scene being filmed and pretended to be an extra. My buddy who worked with me just would open doors to random stages and walk in, dude was pretty confident but once you are on the lot they assume you are supposed to be there.

Too bad about the video, but I’d agree with Daphne; I’ve done all the studio tours in LA and I think Paramount was one of the best for “old” Hollywood. Universal is obviously great as a theme park, the WB tour is good, Sony Pictures (old MGM studios) is ok, but Paramount is really a hidden gem of tours.
Fun story: outside the Paramount theatre they have one of the park benches that was used in Forrest Gump, and our guide told us the day after Tom Hanks won the Oscar for best actor he came and sat on the bench all day in costume and in character as Forrest and talked to all the tour carts that came around and shared his box of chocolates 😄

Thank you so much for stopping at Chris Cornell’s final resting place. He’s my favorite singer and it’s been five years since he passed away, a terrible shock to his family and millions of fans. I also loved seeing Paramount Studios, a tour my late husband and I took back in the late 1970’s. We were lined up just inside the original main entrance when Michael Landon in full “Little House on the Prairie” costume stopped within feet of us as he was having a conversation with someone. Everyone remained respectful and left the two of them alone and it was quite a thrill. Strangely, earlier tonight I watched on CZcams an old Johnny Carson video from 1973 (?) with Don Rickles and Michael Landon and he said his “Little House” movie was going to be made into a series. We all know what a major hit that was! Thanks for the memories. My husband and I were together 45 years and we spent many vacations in Malibu, Venice Beach, Santa Monica and the LA area. 🥲😢

That William Shatner story of him spotting the fire reminded me of a story Leonard Nimoy once told me that in between takes during filming of one of the 6 films they did together one time he stole DeForest Kelley's bagel and the crumbs stayed on his uniform. And there's a whole stage dedicated to Leonard Nimoy.

Used to work as a tour guide at Paramount in the late 90s. Seems like much hasn't changed. The tour is heavily geared towards those that are into Hollywood history. Was very difficult to entertain those that would take the tour expecting to hear about modern productions. The one cool thing was being able to take people on the sets of the day like Fraiser, Soul Train, Entertainment tonight.

Fun stuff, I think Paramount has the best studio tour hands down. I did the VIP tour in 2018 and they did let us film, and we stopped all over the place, go to go to the prop shop and we spoke to the guys who make all the different signs and generic food stuff. We walked through the Dr Phil set and the Conan set, and some show that had Lilian Tomlin in it and the highlight was I got to meet Henry Winkler. For the most part we could take all the pictures and film we wanted, but we were not allowed to ask for any autographs or pictures with anyone on set.

Did the VIP tour two years ago in the fall and then the Night tour that went to the Hollywood Forever cemetery next door. There were just 5 of us in the group. Really personalized. My only complaint was the souvenir photo, the guide could have used help with framing and lighting to get a better picture since I was back lit and he didn't use the flash so I'm basically a silhouette in front of the famous Paramount Studios arch. The rest of the tour with food and information was wonderful! Loved when they showed us the area where Norma Desmond pulled up in front of the writers offices and where she went to meet CB DeMile for his latest production that didn't include her.

Fun facts, Paramount Pictures had an animation studio division formerly called Fleischer Studios, the company behind Betty Boop cartoons and even Screen Songs and King Features' Popeye series. When Paramount sold the entire Fleischer animators after a negotiation due to Fleischer brother's problems, they renamed the studio as Famous Studios (later shortly as Paramount Cartoon Studios in 1956). Famous Studios for its best known for it's famous Harvey Entertainment toons (now currently owned by Universal Pictures through DreamWorks Animation's DreamWorks Classics aka Classic Media) and even Popeye series continuation until 1957 and even DC Comics' Superman shorts from Fleischer Studios to Famous Studios in 1941 to 1943 (although the entire Popeye and Superman shorts are now currently rights belongs to Warner Bros. under both Turner Entertainment with exclusive licensed from Hearst Holdings for Popeye shorts, and DC Comics, WB's parent company who owns most of Superman characters since 1967).

It was also the radio station KHJ 93 AM, which was heard numerous times throughout the movie, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." KHJ was advertised as a RKO/General station. You can see the Hollywood sign from the old Desilu Studio on Cahuenga (now Red Studios) The VIP tour at Paramount is great, when we went we had lunch in Stage 29 (Dr Phil) and visited the set of George Lopez , we went during hiatus , I guess that made a difference, but even with that could not video much of anything that I remember only allowed to take photos. We did go up in Spiderman Alley, would love to go back someday. enjoyed the video

Shame that I’ve only just come across your video now after returning from LA last week, I can’t believe that Paramount STUDIO tour has never crossed my mind. I’ve done universal, Warner and Sony-Columbia-cabbage&cornedbeef😂😂 studio tours in the past but definitely next March it’s Paramount. Any places with Elvis and Howard Hughes history I’d be grateful to hear about. Thanks for the lovely video

I used to tell people the only time I feel normal was on the lots. Eating at the commissary talking about movies etc. The lots have coffee bean and tea leaf which I think is coo. I only been to Paramount once for a photography exhibit. The made the store fronts into little bookstores. They had food trucks. So much fun. I assisted a bunch of photographers so we did a bunch of celebrity shoots. Spielberg at Amblin. Malcom in the Middle cast. Simpson cast at Fox. Will and Grance on Universal lot. I also worked for ABC so I spent a couple of years at Warners.

Fun fact: I was at the Monterey Bay Aquarium when they were filming the whale scenes in Star Trek IV. Had some great pictures of Leonard Nimoy behind the camera and all the lights. It’s also the only Star Trek movie I’ve ever sat through.
My favorite RKO pictures movie has to be Bringing Up Baby. My Dad’s best friend’s grandmother was best friends with Katherine Hepburn. He knew her well. 💕
I remember them showing Stage 25 the night the final episode of Cheers aired.
Is the water tower at Paramount operational or just for show?

This was very interesting. Just took the tour a couple of days ago. They had a tour start every 15 minutes and there were only three other people in my group which made the tour very personal. I could literally ask to see some places I was interested in on the lot and the guide would gladly take me there. We were also allowed to film as much as we wanted, but perhaps that was because there were no productions going on due to the actors' strike. The entrance just to the right of the Bronson gate was the office building where Edith Head worked. The legendary costume designer who had a total of 35 Oscar nominations, including 8 wins. At the start of the tour we got to hold a real Oscar statuette to pose for pictures with. Overall is was more expensive than I thought, but well worth it. Again, thanks for sharing this.

I went to Diamond Ranch High School and they filmed Orange County my senior year. It was cool watching the production. I also got to see The Imposter be filmed after baseball practice. Y’all should check it out go on the 60 East get off on Phillips Ranch road and turn right, first light turn right, go up the hill.

I used to go to that rock and roll Dennys back in the late 80's, early 90's. I definitely saw and talked to a lot of rock stars. A lot was just starting to make it big. I wish I would of got a lot of autographs back then but I didn't. I'm kicking myself in the ass for it now.
