    Recently I decided to use nails mid passage after reading some quotes from Sor and Tarrega saying to use nails sparingly and for special effects. This is the first guitarist I have heard doing that rather than nails for an entire passage and back to a softer sound for the next passage.

    Beautifully played. Out of curiosity - don't guitarists normally put a cloth (or wear long sleeves) to avoid their sweat damaging the guitar? (Especially one costing $9,000)

    • @aaaaaaaaabaaaaaaaaa
      @aaaaaaaaabaaaaaaaaa Před 3 lety +2

      Some do, some don't. You're right in that sweat will contribute to the wearing away of the french polish, but it wouldn't actually damage the guitar until the french polish fully rubs off in that area, where they could take the guitar to a luthier to just reapply the finish.

    • @ClassicalPan
      @ClassicalPan Před 3 lety +1

      I haven't heard this at a slower tempo and I should look up another performance, but IMHO the performer struggled a bit to keep up and keep this clean. Julian Bream also played this at a very high tempo, but I find it easier on the ears.
      Granted, I'm comparing a highly-skilled guitarist to a virtuoso, but I can only reference what I know.

    • @MarkMartinezPhoto
      @MarkMartinezPhoto Před 3 lety

      @@ClassicalPan I just listened to Bream's interpretation and have to disagree. This version by Brenner is technically superior and exceptionally easy to listen to. Perhaps my favorite interpretation of this classic.
