      YESS! Sooo many people watch the movies and enjoy them, but no one goes into them, which sucks because they're. They actually made a vague reference to Race to the Edge in this one when Hiccup says they've dealt with Grimmel's kind before. He's talking about the villain of the show

    You're spot on with how long after the movie the epilogue is set - 10 years. Fun fact - Hiccup and Astrid's kids are called Zephyr (daughter) and Nuffink (son). Another fun fact - Toothless and the Light Fury aren't the same species (Light Furies are a sub-species of Night Furies, descended from them but not the same), and therefore their kids are hybrids; the hybrid species, adorably, is called Night Lights.

    Fun fact: The speech Hiccup does ('There were dragons when I was a boy...') is actually a reference to the book series where the narrator for the books is actually an older Hiccup who is telling us his story. I believe he starts and ends the series with speeches that start with those lines and it was so incredible when I heard movie Hiccup speaking them when I watched this movie with my Nonna in a cinema.

    Not gonna lie, I ugly cry at a number of points throughout this series. The most is when Stoick dies in 2, and the second time is when the dragons leave in this one. Such a perfect trilogy. The way Hiccup and Toothless say goodbye is the same way that they first made a connection as friends. I can go through each of these movies scene by scene and talk about why each scene is so good. One of the great things is that any time the "camera" flys past the statues in these movies, the screen shakes a little bit the way things do in real life when you move past them so fast. Second thing is, you can almost always see the character's reflected in the eyes of the dragons when they're looking at them. No one would be able to see some of these things on first viewing, but it adds so much depth having them there, and it shows how much attention to detail the creators of these movies paid. You mentioned it, but part of why Grimmel is so terrible is because he's a mirror of Hiccup. Grimmel is what Hiccup would have been if he had killed Toothless. Additionally, part of what makes him so great is that he outsmarts Hiccup at every turn, where no other enemy has beaten hiccup in that way. Additionally, no one ever attacked Berk and got away with it. Even Drago wasn't able to destroy Berk the way Grimmel did. The whole movie trilogy is so great because each movie has an arc for Hiccup and Toothless as they grow, and the trilogy as a whole has an arc for their growth. I love the TV series, you get so much depth for all of the supporting cast and way more time with Stoick. Your reactions have been delightful. I love talking about these movies.

  • @jneumy566
    @jneumy566 Před 3 lety +215

    I just realized how Grimmel got in Hiccup's house. He has his dragons on Hiccup's roof so he probably landed there and went in through the hole or "window" in Hiccup's roof and then just walked down the stairs. We see it quite a bit in Riders of Berk, so I'm surprised I didn't realize that sooner

I'm just saying in Riders of Berk, we see that in Hiccup's room on the second floor, there's a rectangular hole/window above his bed that he and Toothless use to get out without Stoick noticing. The second and third film always make me cry!😭It would be amazing if u can react to the tv series! The first series (riders of Berk) is taken place right after the first film and the second series (race to the edge) is taken place before the second film. I do recommend u watch them just because u get all the behind the scenes like the growth of Hiccup and Astrids relationship and how the alpha dragon was given to Hiccups mum etc! Plus u get to see loads of new dragons! Love ur reactions to these films❤️

      One of my favorite things about Race to the Edge is that it shows Hiccup's angry side which you never see in the movies. I'm sure you remember after his first defeat at Viggo's hands, he just yells into the night. The moment in season 2, when Ryker gets defeated, Hiccup yells his name and the look of anger on Hiccup's face; you never see that side of him which shows how much the events of Race to the Edge affected him and why he's so insistent on talking to Drago in the second movie, because he doesn't want all that happening again. Plus, it would've been the third war in roughly four years

    I recently watched your hp reactions and I loved them all. I recommend you to watch some of the unofficial fanmade films. They cover the parts from book which were not in the films. You will definitely like them as you are going into the novels as well. Here are my recommendations-
    1. Sisters of house black(based on bellatrix narscissa and Andromeda and how they took three different paths during first wizarding war)
    2.neville longbottom and the black witch(story of what actually happened to Neville's parents....idk why they omitted this part from order of phoenix as it was very important to his character)
    3.the greater good (it'sabout dumbledore and grindelwald and how ariana died...i specifically remember your reaction when aberfoeth said my brother sacrificed ariana...so you will know what actually happened)
    4.snape and the marauders(biggest rivalry of whole hp canon....it shows a day after their graduation...)
    5.mischief managed (when james and lily got together in their 7th year of hogwarts... it's not intense as other four but definitely fun to watch..p.s. it has post credit scene)
    There are 50+ hp fan films but imo these are most accurate to canon so if you are interested you should definitely give a try

    Neat detail but i love the fact that hiccup and grimmel both have non lethal weapons if you think about it. Hiccup's sword isnt actually a sword, its just a distraction and a calming tool for dragons, its basically just flaming rod that looks like a sword, its use in fighting is just to parry and disarm people. While grimmel's crossbow isnt actually going to kill someone, its just a tranquilizer. Difference, hiccup's weapon is more of a defensive one while Grimmel is more of an offensive one. Really just shows how these characters are the same yet polar opposites

    I read the book series when I was a kid, and they were my introduction to fantasy, which continues to be my favorite genre. When some girls wanted to play princesses and horses at recess, I wanted to play Vikings and dragons. The books are VERY different from the movies, but I still love the movies. In terms of an adaptation, the movies are way off, but as their own story (and I really do view them as their own thing, separate from the books), they're absolutely incredible. This movie hit me so hard the first time I saw it. It was like watching my childhood come to a close. I still cry like a baby every time, and I've seen the movie probably 50 times. It truly was the end of an era

    And yes the movies are barely talked about from where i’m from too. Honestly i can’t decide if that’s good or bad. I feel like if it was like Hunger Games popular then some people would find a way to make it look bad and this series doesn’t deserve that. And yeah it is popular but like in secret. At least that’s what i feel. Keep in mind that i don’t really know the outside perspective on the series since i’ve never been on the outside.
