- Going behind the scenes to see the action come to life; the unbelievable training each actor had to go through for #TopGunMaverick - Only in theatres May 27.
Synopsis: After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Just imagine the amount of legal & insurance documents they had to sign to be able to make this happen. It's insane.
The air force has to cosign any film stunt work, I'm sure all the flying was well within the expert pilots ability.
He could have cured cancer with that money, or at least stopped the pet overpopulation problem, or quadrupled the training of law enforcement across the US to save hundreds of children's lives.
But why would a "hero" like Tom Cruise give a shit about those things at the expense of his pathologically insecure ego?
Does Tom Cruise even have life insurance?
Veteran here, movies like Top Gun boost enlistment rates noticeably every time. The military jumps at the chance to approve movies like this hahha
Yes exactly before they die in tragic just in case
If this doesn't win best picture in many categories, I ll know this is rigged too. This was above and beyond just a phenomenal movie. They all were fantastic.
It was honestly mind blowing how well they captured the essence of the first film without forcing the old school feel it had. This movie had an entire new layer of modern "cool". When they stole the f14 i just about shit.
@@poutinegod2564
Well said!
Unfortunately, the Academy Awards probably won't consider this "quality movies". Simply because it's got a lot of action.
They usually give Best Picture to boring artsy movies, not to good fun action thrillers.
@@daakudaddy5453
I agree with your comment.
To work with Tom is ...it's like you've achieved a rare milestone as a human being.
True! :')
And got a becholar degree on how to be a legit movie star.
I was tearing up after the movie finished … and I savoured every second of the movie afraid to miss a thing. With Tom Cruise introducing the movie and thanking the viewers for being there, it was like a treat. The movie, cast and crew - deserve a standing ovation! One of the best movies I’ve seen in my lifetime! Thank you, Tom!
Same here. Just saw it this weekend. I’m 50-years old, so I was in my prime youth when the first movie came out. Saw it with my high school buddies and joined the military (Army) shortly after that. This was a long awaited sequel that us original Top Gun fans had been waiting for. The first second into the movie already had me in the feels. A lot of the scenes in the movies really brought out the Top Gun nostalgia in you.
That is very impressive training for normal actors to actually fly fighter jets like that with no CGI at all I have lot of respect for them actors and Tom cruise because it takes a lot of guts to do that
they did not fly it or pilot the jets, DoD wont let them do that they were sitting at the back controlling the camera to get the actual feel and facial reaction of the G pulling them.
Did u even watch bro? The actors do not actually pilot the jet, they just ride in it. Any visuals of their face is when they’re riding in the back seat of a two-seater F-18 jet. Those visuals are cut with external visuals of one-seat F-18 jets. These jets come in 2 versions of seating…
@@americantruth9771. No I haven't watched it yet bro but I want to very soon but I did watch the making of the new top gun film and Tom cruise did make all the actors do a 3 month intensive course on the F-18 flight jet. I would love to go up in one of them jets that would be amazing. I can't wait to see it in the cinema soon and I will be seeing the film in 4DX
And actually filming too. Beyond impressive. Good comment 👍
As a pilot, I am surprised by how little some people know about flying. The actors in this movie did not fly F-18s, they are actors, not actual fighter pilots. They were taken up in the air with real pilots who would fly the aircraft, while the actors would focus on getting the best footage in the cockpit. They did a phenomenal job.
An F/A-18 costs roughly half the amount of the film's entire budget. It takes years of experience before the US Navy will consider allowing someone to fly them. With that being said, Hangman actor Glen Powell did get his private pilot's license after they wrapped up filming. But that means he can fly planes like Cessnas, not an actual fighter jet.
All these actors and actresses went to the limit to film this movie, great respect for them!
no they did not. also Tom speaks from the position like he has done it before. He was also passenger in those jets unlike he was insinuation before. Never actually piloted one.
More then that, all the actors put their heart, soul, and acting experience with Tom Cruise who is a very driven, focused, relentless hard-driven actor himself.
@@hagestad he did pilot an f 18
@@hagestad Tom is an excellent pilot, if you watch james Gordon's tv show.
@@hagestad It doesn't actually matter. Just because they were backseating the Hornets doesn't mean that they magically experienced less Gs than the pilots. Go watch SmarterEveryDay's video where he sat in the backseat of a F-16. A few minutes of even 3Gs is enough to make an untrained person feel like absolute dogshit. There's a reason why in the video, they mentioned that the actors had to go through training to actually allow them to not conk out when filming.
THIS. THIS is how a blockbuster movie should be!
If you’ve seen this movie, you could tell the level of dedication and work that was put into it. One of the best movies of my lifetime.
Completely agree. I saw it in theatre twice. I tried the moving seats as well. Best experience ever
Just watched it tonight and its so insanely well done and just all around awesome, better than the original in my opinion!
The first has a heart, less fights. the 2nd one has more technicality, less romance.
@@zakkarawylde151 We obviously needed the first movie to have this one so Im for sure not shitting on the first one I was just saying I liked the second one a little better but both are sick movies.
If Tom does not get highly awarded for any of his work that he does there is something seriously wrong he never gets enough praise or awarded enough for any of his work in my Opinion
I remember the first top gun, and how cheesy/awesome it was. Now I am an old man, and here comes part two. Can't wait.
It was incredible!!! What did you think, Jeff?
@@kinnymane8593 Been working. Gonna get a day off here soon and go. Can't wait. NO SPOILERS ! HAHAHAHAHAHAA

he is so darn focused on what he does that it's incredible mind-blowing
Best part was Mav coming of the the desert floor and giggles, Fkn priceless
Wow they self directed themselves in air? Incredible fact. A worthy blockbuster.
Movie was absolutely amazing, hats off to every1 involved its a masterpiece of a movie
This movie is a master piece.
Kudos to the Navy, actors and crew for their work.
And what else can you say about Tom Cruise. The guy is a master at his craft.
That must be such an insane experience. These actors will remember that for their whole life. It’s amazing
Tom has surpased himself!
wait till he goes to space!
Is he going there as well?
This kind of project requires different level of dedication and guts and patience. I am really excited and glad. Love from India 😊
Haven’t been to movies in eons but going to see this one.
Go. Its really good.
Watched it yesterday! And the the training SHOWS in the movie. Loved it just as much as the first one

This movie was pure magic.
I’ve been hearing good stuff about this …. People knock Cruise but he’s a good actor.
agreed... he's a different beast to his younger self... good bloke...👍✌️🇬🇧
He’s always made a great movie. People grow and change and they have personal lives that aren’t really anyones business. All I know is it’s money we’ll spent when I see one of his movies.
He is very good actor:)

Best. Movie. Ever.
Tom Cruise is awesome 😎. Talented Actor and Hardworking ❤️😍🥰.
Can’t wait for Top Gun 3 where Maverick breaks out of the retirement home but can’t find the base, so he goes to Chipotle.
He actually asked Joe Biden for directions!

This movie is gonna get awards. And lots of them!!
YUP that is what they are hoping for three years after the original opening date ?
The budget must have been insane.
Budget just over $150 million and as of today, it's grossed over $900 million worldwide!✈
SO fucking wicked!! Way to go Tom Cruise. I can't wait to see this new flick!!
Výborně natočené!!!

Acting is next level people say games will catch up to movies nah movies became reality
Hollywood reality REALLY ?????
Wow this is insane…
Want watch it. I wait
YEEEESSSS..... !
Tom Cruise took James Corden up in a plane and then a jet, and probably did similar with the actors to slowly work them up for when the military would fly them up in the F18's at much higher speeds.
It is impressive, in military universities student took years of training to flight those jets and only a handful graduate. Here they got a bunch of actors ready in a short period of time. I mean, they are probably not good enough for actual combat situation, but just able to get this far and even able to do some perform some arial combat move it is already very impressive.
That is a great movie. Watch it.
👏👏👏👏💯🔥
مشهد رائع جميل للغاية كم رواية رائعة
I would have liked to watch this but couldn't stand the tiny video square in the middle of the screen. Think I'll have to go find it full screen somewhere else.
💓
Now that is how movies are made the rest of Hollywood. None of that CGI crap
ULTRA ...
Can't wait to see this sequel; too bad no producer ever made a movie about the King of Speed...the Lockheed Skunkworks SR-71 Blackbird.
but there are plenty about space shuttles that before landing do about 4 to five times max speed of Sr 71
King of speed yes but when a fast turn involves three states not to much for Hollywood to exploit you turn and burn etc?
@@hagestad not under power, huge difference

No to green screen. Just wow
If this movie doesn't win an Oscar you know that whole program is a joke
I’ll like to know how much jets they destroy 😂😂

is there a story in this top gun movies or they just flying around?
As per the reviews this movie is basically fighter jets, action sequences, deep emotions and what not
Wasn't this movie supposed to come out a couple of years ago?
Yes, didn't due to covid.
Hey maverick, I would love nothing more than to do a simulator with you, due to the fact that I have disabilities
Please say yes
Does Tom age at all?
Just watched the movie yesterday, its not like a movie, its like a reality TV show
It’s about $20,000 per hour to fly a FA-18.
Well, there’s another job I’m scared of…
SU-57 on @2:30
If anyone payed close attention y’all notice none of actors flew planes they were just filming footage while making it look like they it were flying plane but in reality they were all just along for ride and ones that were flying planes actually was professional navy pilots that why never each team with other person in plane at same cause navy was in that seat flying aircraft where other person would be seating! Only F-18 hornets they could fly were trainers which were two seaters! The footage you of them taking off from runway was actually shot using green screen with green men creating launch motions of taking off from Carrier! It was cheaper and more cost affect to do that since they can’t film alot of scenes in certain of ship for national security and safer privacy cause normally only certain area crew member can or cannot go due to rank during battle! Also film crew are only allowed in certain by escort given by official crew member! It’s an active duty in service aircraft Carrier which is also why never name or ship registerary number was never shown! The professionals probaby shot take off scenes film crew didn’t do it an md also one of hard things like to do and not experience it could cost gov if damage or lost it!
It must be nice movie
Did Tom actually pilot F18s in the film?
nope.. he sits in the co-pilot chair. Nevertheless, the amount of difficulties is much higher than in CGI movies.
Answer !1L=
The lady pilot resembles that Reacher Girl
Wow 7gs
They really drive that thing by themselves???
yes, very minimal special effects in this movie, and its Tom Cruise so yeah 😂
Topgun 3 be world war 3 us vs Russia nuclear war
It’s hard training, but none of these actors are flying. The Navy isn’t handing over $100 million taxpayer paid combat aircraft to Non-Navy personnel to “fly”. The actors are in the backseat.
No shit 💀 but pulling 6-8 Gs while trying to maintain good lighting is still insanely impressive
And after watching the movie having the actors in the planes made a world of difference
inpaindaily
Can we all agree that a jet sprinting onwards like a dragster after you turn on the afterburners is bullshit?
its definitily speed up footage
@@sparrowlt no shit, but also bull-shit. I expected different tricks that's all
As someone who has flown fast jets yes when the afterburners kick in the aircraft takes off like a racehorse
