  • This is our online class in the vintage dance of Balboa that we did as part of our Winter Holiday Workshop :D The steps that we are covering in this workshop is the downhold basic, come around, toss out and lollies.
Balboa is an elegant swing dance that originated in Southern California during the 20s and enjoyed huge popularity during the 30s and 40s.
Balboa is named after the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California where the dance was invented.

Great video. The basics. Your teaching style is great. No rushing. Plenty of attention to detail.

I really appreciate the care and attention you take in going over the steps. I am an experienced swingdancer (finding it not so easy to transition to balboa) and your demonstrations couldn't be clearer. Just the tempo I need to make sense of the moves. Thank you!

Thank you SO SO much! I really needed something simple over a long duration. And this does it! My goal note is to know it so well I can converse simultaneously…or at least respond😂

Thank you very much for this video, I decided to learn Balboa after a couple of years of other Swing dances (getting old ehh ;) ) and it was a perfect introduction!

Put speed at .75 in settings ( the gear looking tool) and start at 1:35 in... perfect for beginner like me.
Starting with your right foot it's front front back, back back front. this helps me with my turns and staying in step.
