His colouring is so adorable! I've never seen a syrian that looks like that. I'm pretty confident that it'll turn out he's not a biter and can become comfortable with people, but even if he doesn't and ends up being a "look don't touch" hamster, he's clearly so happy in his new home. :)

I think people need to know how to treat me if they want respect, which I normally (or at least hopefully) give. I believe we all need to learn how to treat each other and animals of other species. I am so so so happy that he had the good fortune to be found by YOU and not live his whole life in a tiny pet store bin or a little "standard" hamster cage and never taken out for fear of biting. I spent several years working in a chain pet store and have seen it happen; if they have health/behavior problems or even just get "too big" from cute sellable babies, they become adoptable instead, and moved off the floor to make room for moneymakers, or sent back to the breeder where I don't know what happens. you will give penny the life that all hamsters deserve but seemingly few actually get, and I am here for it!! 💗

Originally I had named the hamster “Coconut” Coconuts backstory: unfortunately I do work at a petstore, I try to provide the best hamster care to those who come into the store but as you know…it’s a petstore lol. We got Penny in one day and they were super freaked out in the floor pens. Unfortunately in my work place we get 10ish hamsters in a quarter pen. Penny started fighting with the hamsters right away so we separated them, I took a liking to penny and tried my best to care for them in the conditions we had. I begged my manager to give them a bigger ISO container, I gave them a 12” wheel and huts and bedding and told my coworkers to not adopt them out to inexperienced owners since they are scared and that they will need a huge cage (like any hamster would) One day I asked my manager if I could go to Walmart on my lunch break and I bought a tote bin to put penny in so it was much bigger. Eventually my manager told me that penny had to be sold somewhere or the higher ups may move her to another store where she most likely would not be taken care of or sold to an inexperienced owner. Penny had a hold of my heart so I asked my manager if I could bring penny home which they agreed to, I brought penny home and free roamed them every chance I had, luckily the ad I put out for penny was quickly answered. I was skeptical at first. I admit, I did ask a lot of questions about if they were experienced, if they had a proper cage, enough bedding, good food and no live feeding situation would happen. Penny was adopted back in September by a lady named “Nicole” very sweet and friendly. I’m happy to see that my little coconut is doing well. Unfortunately after coconut (or penny) was adopted my dwarf hamster Feta passed away. Well that’s the story of Penny, it’s not much but I’m glad they have a loving home. A lot of people are wondering why I labeled Penny as a biter, this is because I was expecting beginner owners or less experienced people to be interested in him. I wanted to add “biter” on the front of their adoption page so people knew what to expect and hopefully this would drive young kids away who most likely had wanted a pet. I just got my first hamster and she's a Roborovski dwarf. After about 2 weeks she finally stopped nibbling and now she's slowly started to climb on my arms and chest. She's so friendly now and even comes out of her wheel whenever I come sit next to her enclosure. It's difficult knowing she's probably never going to be "comfortable" enough to cuddle but I love her from afar. What precious creatures they are.

His colouring is golden, which is common, but he’s got at least two patterns. Dominant spot for sure, and I think polywhite or polywhite carrier.
