In the door scene, it shows Rose getting on the door, and then Jack, but both of them getting dumped off, therefore Jack let Rose on the door, and he swam to the side of the door.

His performance in the departed, wolf of wallstreet, basketball diaries, revenant, whats eating Gilbert grape I mean, they were alot better, I think he couldn't reach his full artistic potential in Titanic maybe that's why he's not too into it. Not that he wasn't great in Titanic tho

People is missing the shot. The size of the door was not the key but their weight. If both of them got on the door, probably it would have sunk a half or more, so both would have been in contact with water enough to end frozen. Jack did the job 👍🏻

There’s an episode on Hulu about it where they ran them and James says he would have fit but since Rose had the dress, jacket and life belt on, that’s what saved her life as opposed to his.

This endless question really show how good and authentic THE TITANIC love story was.

Well the movie did show that the door couldn't have supported both Rose and Jack. But one solution is, if for a certain interval of time, Rose could've been on the top, then she would come down in the water, and then Jack could've climbed on top and stayed there for a while. By repeating this process again and again, neither of them would become too cold to just die, and both of them could've lived
It's been a bit, but if I remember right Rose barely survived long enough to be saved even when staying above water the whole time. They had no idea how long they would be out there, so he sacrificed himself to give her the best chance at surviving
Or they could find another floating object in the process so that both of them survive. But really their situation is horrible we don't know if it happens in real life can one of them can still survive.

If Rose had truly loved him then even if the door with two of them was lower in the water, making them colder, then she would still have insisted he get on the door too. Either they both attempt to live together and survive or they both die together.
Jack did not make a stronger effort to get on the door because that was a movie and the director wanted Jack to die at that moment. That is the only explanation.
There’s a myth busters episode about it. Rose and Jack would have weighted too much. The door only stayed afloat when the guys had the idea to tie their life jackets under it and even then it was shaky.
If you guys pay attention during the movie. They both get on the door and it sinks almost. So then jack being the man tells rose to get on the door

the door is spacious for both of them but then the door couldn't hold both of their weight...it's actually one of the reason why Jack needs to cling on to it facing Rose so the door could stay afloat because if not, then half of Rose's body would have also be in the water...simple science

It's not about fitting on the door, its about buoyancy. Did the mathematical equations of freezing cold water with weights of Rose, Jack and the door, and both of them would be able to be held up by the door without both sinking in. The movie got it right.

It has to be taken into consideration that even if there was space for Jack on the door, his added weight would most likely have resulted in the door sinking thereby killing both of them. Jack not getting on was the only outcome (once the door event was reached) where at least one life could have been saved.
Not necessarily, they could've have alternated every half hour or so, only thing was they stayed awake until the rescue folks came.
Both can fit but the weight will sink the door a bit more which means both will frozen to death..thays why only rose up there so the door will still float and save her from frozen
