This is good to know, and thankfully not something I'll ever experience. I only use v90's with my R5 C. I usually record video to my CF Express B, even if 4k. Your videos are always great Bryan. Must have binge watched 6 of them today, even though I've seen all of them before. Super helpful. Please keep them coming.
2:45 - actually the camera DOES tell you but not in a very obvious way. If you look at both the CF and SD icons, the SD is GREYED OUT while the CF has a bold red. The red is supposed to tell you that your selected card to record into, is not present, hence the red icon is your warning. You see XX minutes on your SD card bcoz though its present... you did NOT select it as the card to record into, hence it is greyed out so that's the indication. That said, yeah sure they should pop up a warning right onscreen indicating it in a very obvious way. For me the real blunder is the system doesn't have the option/ ability to auto switch to the other card if let's say your primary card is not present.
Dear Brayn. I just changed from my Canon R5 to a Canon R5c 🤗 Really love the Raw recording. But I also like the 8bit out of the camera IPB 🥰 Do you know which settings I can do on the R5c to match it? thank for your help 🙂
How do you set up r5 c to record externally? I can only record in hdmi raw at super 35 & 16 at 30fps with ninja v plus. When put in 60fps there is no input. But in any other codecs it only shows what's on the camera and can't record.
Hello thanks for your tutorials. I m’having an issue, i m trying to click allow Rec Command(EXT REC) to set up with the atomos, but HDMI Time Code and Rec Commands are grey, i can’t click on them, if you have any idea 😅
It showed you that you were recording externally. It showed you a card that was red with a circle and a cross through it. Ya.. I could have flashed a big warning on the screws... but you can't say it did nothing. You admit to the wrong card. You also admit to the .. 2 shots before I noticed. So not sure where the REALLY BURNEd came from. Sounds like you got away with it, but you needed to spice up this video. It was an interesting warning though.
In the heat of a shoot, one can get distracted and not fully read, understand , or mentally process all of the information on the screen. Been there, done that, couldn't afford to buy the t-shirt ...
Beginner question here. I cant seem to find info on this. So when I set to record video with external plugged in mic, I loose all audio even though the audio bars show moment but when I film in other than Normal Recording mode. If I switch to Slow & Fast Motion or S&F Clip I loose all audio even tho the audio bars are moving. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I filmed two very important varsity games and I lost all audio.
Slow & Fast will never record audio because it is auto converting your footage in camera. If you want audio during slow motion you need S&F Clip/Audio Wav. The important thing to know is that when you do this the audio file is not embeded in your video file. It is saved as a separate .wav file on the card. You will need to sync these files back together in post. Have a great day!
I did film in S&F, audio bars were moving up and down. Now the problem is, how the heck do I extract or find those audio files. Would be glad to pay for someone to help me if possible 😊

So you ended up recording to the atamos by accident which had its own memory card in it and the file had the canons on-screen display info?

Does it really matter if you’re recording externally? Honest question. Or were you doing SD recording for backup?

Yes, as long as you have set you camera up for external recording, you can record to an Atomos without a card. Have a great day!

@@KeithSklower Exactly. I've done dumb things. Missed shots. Messed things up. But it's NEVER been the cameras fault. It was always all mine.
