Why are people mad wrestlers can now make 6 figures while in college? Wrestling has lost phenoms like Aaron Pico, Nate Jesuroga, Gable Stevenson, etc. because big money wasn't involved when they made their career decisions. And might lose Ben Kueter, a U20 world champion. This sport is losing amazing talent to other sports because there isn't enough money involved. Alirez might not have even returned to college if there wasn't a pay day available

Meh it def is open but I really don’t see it. I think Michigan is the go. Lemely can either go up to 149 or drop to 133. But while I want him at Michigan, I feel like he goes to VT it’s open aswell and the 1 2 punch with Alirez at 141 and Henson at 149.

The portal cheapens coaching as I see it. Instead of it being about coaching a kid (with everything that means because it's more than just the wrestling and what happens on the mat), it becomes more like professional sports and grabbing talent however a team can do it to win championships. Perhaps the rule should be only first two year wrestlers can enter the portal so that a kid who enters a program and realizes it's a bad match, they can look at getting into a different program. Also more fair to coaches, especially of less monied and smaller programs. Why should they have the rug pulled out from underneath their feet after investing in a kid, (and sacrificing for them in some cases), only to lose them to a Penn State or Iowa. Lastly, I looked at the kid from Cal Poly who transferred for his last year to Penn State, watched him wrestle and could see he really wasn't a Penn St. program wrestler. It was ridiculous IMHO.

Wrestling fans are going to tire of NCAA wrestling unless some other school mounts a credible threat to Penn State. Probably the only way to do that will be through the portal as so many of the top high school recruits are going to Penn State.

@kawikajones9436 and I'm saying this because Carter has a small frame, so he's really strong where he is, so he'd be wrestling strong guys that walk around 215-220 look at his Olympic trial against a championship 97 pounder
