I like how the farmer put him to work for a while before showing him his Gigantic Terminator Armor that in no way would have helped him remember who he was 😂. Great story and great reading as always.

To be fair, the farmer did tell him that "his Holy armor had kept him alive", and the marine did not ask the farmer to see it.
God dammnit why cant we have a space marine have a happy ending were he finds love and has a child, on one of these left behind worlds like please come on man, this was set up perfectly for it

Astartes are sterile. Also they may not even have dicks. I don't think there's ever been confirmation beyond slaaneshii Marines, and that's due to surgeries/mutations

I would have to imagine these planets might have many orphaned children.
The space marine could settle down with a nice woman… Adopt a few kids.. Have a little farm, house on the side of a scenic hill, a pretty little creek.. with trout.. little trout that come down from the larger deeper lake at the top of the hill.. big spruce trees, lush grass.. warm summers and cool winters..

I know it goes against most of what 40k is about, but can we get more stuff like this? Marines helping civilians & humanity truly working together. Him helping out the villagers & then making that ultimate sacrifice for them is just nice to see for once.

I love this story. But like many others, it's always bothered me how the kind villagers were able to remove his armor/disconnect the Black Carapace, etc. and how Rios was able to put everything back on without Mechanicus/servitor assistance.

These stories are becoming my background routine
The best narrator I have come across so far I usually hate audio books because the voice acting makes me cringe but I have listened to you for 3 days now almost non stop you do an excellent job. If you could do more Imperial Gaurd books that would be awesome.

I don't think the author understands how tall 2 meters is...
An Astartes is aprox 7 feet tall. 2 meters is 6 1/2 feet. Not sure how a 2 meter tall Hive Tyrant is going to tower over and intimidate an Astartes.
A hive Tyrant from scale, should be described as being closer to 6 meters, 20 feet, tall.
Digging around in the comments you can find mention of this being very old lore, what made me first notice actually was the farmers being able to get Rios out of his terminator armor without a tech priest, and also the lone Carnifex being referred to as a Screamer Killer, and also that the planet even could have survived a Tyranid incursion
