Great video as usual guys, thank you! Excellent editing on the B roll Jamie and the figures look amazing Jeff, well done my man. I love that Golem looking dude.
I think I might get this game to introduce to my daughter so that we can get into story games together. I know for a fact that she would LOVE this game.
I have been eying this game for a while now, and just pre ordered it as soon as I seen your Video review. We are currently still playing through Forgotten waters scenarios and really love the story telling from Plaid Hat games.
Ok this looks fantastic! ME WANT! BTW my wife got my game - Overboss and she surprised me with Lost Ruins of Arnak and Disney's It's a Small World that I will play with my Granddaughter. Thanks for your good work!
I was sitting in the theater a few weeks ago and while waiting for Spider-Man to begin, I read about Familiar Tales. A few seconds after that, I had preordered the game. The Deck-building aspect and generational gameplay is intriguing!
Thanks for the overview. My kids and I have loved playing Gloomhaven, Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, Adventure Tactics, the Hero Relms campaign, and even Hero Quest till I got the other ones. This one looks like a great campaign game we can get into too.
I really want this but need to finish aftermath and we have mice and mystics to play through aswell. But may keep it on radar for next Christmas for the kids
Now that we played adventure tactics and found out that campaign games are my wife's favorite genre we will definitely be checking this out, thanks for your coverage. Jeff the minis look great i think I'm going to get into mini painting with how you have been talking about it.
Thanks Aaron!!! Painting has become a very incredible hobby for me. Any way I can help you navigate, let me know. I’m still new but willing to help where I can! Appreciate the kind words
@@FostertheMeeple I probably wont start until after tax season. I'm an accountant and pretty busy this time of the year. I will definitely have some questions after though. if you want to set up a time to audit Jamie's bookkeeping just let me know lol.
Good work! I really want this game and you explained it so well! BTW, you got a mention from Chaz Marler at the end of the most recent "Games on Our Radar" video from Watch It Played. Congrats! You guys are getting noticed for your outstanding efforts! Nice!
The artwork and pieces look amazing! Well done on painting(was going to ask if it was how it came or not), they look incredible! Replay-ability always worries me as I want to be able to continually enjoy something I love, but hopefully expansions could be aplenty to give even more options to continue the journey or start a new one that goes hand-in-hand with this story.
I’m interested in the game but curious how the discontent track plays out as the princess grows. I don’t want the princess throwing a fit, the familiars being forced to cave to her demands, and teaching my kid a bad lesson. Other than that concern it sounds amazing.
I mean, ultimately you will have a trigger that states “increase discontent by +1”. How you shape that narrative is up to you. Mind you, we have only played so much of the game.
Great review guys and gals, this game brought back my faith in the storytelling genre. For me using an app has become something organic and effective. It does the heavy lifting and it also helps to introduce you to that world. I just get really drained from reading and reading, rules, special rules, more reading (I'm looking at you Stuffed Fables and Aftermath, not you M&M, you're cool). For me this is the future in boardgaming.
SERIOUSLY, DUDE! The minis look UH-MAZING. (Sorry. That's the part of the hobby I'm most interested in.) The game looks great. I was really resistant about app driven games but I got Mansions of Madness for Christmas and it's just like having an AI for a game master. It's just another tool to use in a game.
@Foster the Meeple we highly recommend it. Yea I watched the award video, and was like if this game won Jamie and Jeff's pick. It has to be amazing! So I ordered it haha
Hello guys! I love your videos! great work! I was considering getting this game but I was also considering aftermath. Which one is better in your opinion? Thank you!
How does this game compare to Forgotten Waters in regards to complexity/heaviness? Forgotten Waters was just the right amount of complexity for my fiance who plays board games but not into the super heavy games, is this one about the same?
YAY!!!!!! We ordered this game based on your preview. We haven't played it yet and love it already! Watched half of this and didn't want to spoil it because it looks so good! I LOVE woodland creatures, and cartoony characters! CAN NOT WAIT till this comes in the mail. :) Also you guys rock and are always right about your board game reviews!
We were thinking of playing with separate decks for that specific reason but still playing all the characters, is that too administrative heavy do you think?
I don’t think it would be administratively heavy no, I do think it would make the game easier though which I don’t think would be ideal. Since you draw at the end of turns, if you used cards to link with another player - you’d have the risk / reward decision of having less cards on your turn. I think if you split the decks that risk / reward would be taken away a bit.
So glad y'all are enjoying the adventure!
Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity!
I woke up today and realized that Thursday means a new FTM video. Been hyped for this all day! 😁
Woohoo!! That’s very kind of you to say! Hope you enjoy it!
I've been waiting for this video for what feels like weeks!!!!!
We like to build up the anticipation!
You had me at "Paula Deming is in it". I'm glad to hear set up and tear down is less the Jaws of the Lion.
Haha she does a great job!
Great job painting the minis, Jeff! They look fantastic! The game sounds pretty awesome, too.
Thanks so much!!! That means a lot to me
I'm so excited to get my copy. Got it pre-ordered! You did a GREAT JOB on the painting! :D

This looks so fun...I just preordered this to play with my daughter. Thanks for all of your amazing content!
Ahh excited for you!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we are!
Thanks for the preview! Preordered this game so my wife and I can play through! Looking forward to it!
Awesome to hear Gary! Hope you enjoy it as much as we are
Great review and great painting Jeff! Think chalk is my fave mini! Look forward to hearing even more when you play the next era! 💜
Thanks Leanne! We will certainly keep you in the *spoiler free* loop!
Looks so fun and immersive, and beautiful! and fantastic painting job :)
Thanks a ton Terra! It is all of those things!
I think I might get this game to introduce to my daughter so that we can get into story games together. I know for a fact that she would LOVE this game.
It seems like it would be a great experience to share with kids. Granted we are not far in to the experience

I’m liking seeing Radlands behind you both. 👍👍
Isn’t it beautiful!
Intro to campaigning... very interesting. Great job guys.
Thanks so much!
Great paint job, Jeff! I especially liked Chalk and whoever that big bad Knight is.
Glad you enjoyed Jon! Honestly I don’t even know who the knight is yet! Spoilers!

I love the art, reminds me of Everdell! It is cool to see a lighter theme in a story box game, not so grime or bleak as other bigger box games
Definitely a nice change to the norm!

We saw that!!! So nice of them :)
Jeff needs to put close up Pictures of the miniatures he painted for this game on your Instagram.
They are Amazing. Great Job Jeff.

Unfortunately we have not played forgotten waters so I cannot compare. This is not heavy. It is very focused on driving the story!

what game is that centered in the background with the long flowing hair?
Radlands! Deluxe edition.

You have aftermath in the background, how is it compared to that one?
We haven’t played aftermath yet so can’t really compare! Sorry!
