    Thanks a lot champ. Perfect for jumping in after buying it and wanting a quick easy Cold and Dark startup. Thanks!

    IIRC, throttle up twice is not an "auto" setting. The Black shark throttle operates in 3 different modes. Up once is the cruise mode. Automatic governing, but will try to conserv fuel when possible.
    Up Twice is the performance setting. Still auto governing, but will always maintain maximum amount of power in the rotor disc.
    And up thrice is an emergency mode used for limping home on one engine with the other one dissabled. Pushes the engine above warranty to extract all available power.
    Great video as always :D

      @MamboDCS  Před rokem +1

      Could be, it's just that in the DCS controls setup page it calls the twice position 'AUTO'. Maybe it's wrong and you're right, I was just going off of what DCS says :P

      Thank you so much for this comment. Every time I try to start this helicopter the right engine only gets up to 2,000 RPM and then dies while the first engine is at 10,000 RPM I think I have the fuel in the third setting

    • @jaromirandel543
      @jaromirandel543 Před 7 měsíci

      No. Up once is the governor fail mode. You use it to avoid engine overspeed in case when the power turbine's RPM governor fails.

    Nice one, Mambo. One of these days I will get around to learning a chopper in DCS.

      The Ka-50 is a great choice for your first heli because it is much easier to handle and make it go where you actually want it to go.
      Let me know when you get around to that so I can help you out :D

    According to the in game tutorial, a competant piliot should be able to startup the Ka50 in 30 seconds...

    If this video was taken in DCS:KA-50 III, then: 0:15-0:25 better to start with the external power source. Generators are usually turned on after the rotor have nominal RPM. SA-TLF has no funcion. 0:41 - IFF switch have no function. Do not turn on the NAV switch. It is only for the ground checks. Instead use the K-041 switch on weapons panel. 0:57 - INU and INU HEAT should be turned on only after EKRAN is on, K-041 is on, PVI-800 is in OPER mode and SAI switch is on. 0:58 Set throttles to auto after the both engines are running at idle. 1:15 - do not turn on laser if you don't need it. Laser in KA-50 likes to die fast by overheating. Also there is fully missing the INU align process and course correction.

    hi Mambo
    can you do a video about setting the Hotas for the Ka-50 !!!
    and is my wingwin2 F16 EX stick and a F18 throttle with an orion-2 base and a redder peddals enough ?

  • @clutchtucker
    @clutchtucker Před 9 měsíci

    Is it fine if I don't do an alignment through the PVI-800 and just slap the INUs on right away?

    how did you get the far back right to not be in russian? I have the english cockpit, but that rear area, as well as some of the warning lights are still in russian

    • @MamboDCS
      @MamboDCS  Před rokem

      A couple updates ago the update represented a bug where the English cockpit is mixed with Russian.
      That video was recorded before that bug but now I have the same issue.
      Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

  • @blandoworthlessness
    @blandoworthlessness Před rokem +1

    Thanks for the video very helpful. I'm wondering though, aren't you supposed to turn on INU heat switch as well as INU? I don't know what it does but another tutorial did both.

    • @MamboDCS
      @MamboDCS  Před rokem +1

      INU part of the navigation system (Inertial Navigation Unit).
      As far as I know, the freezing of it isn't modeled in DCS so it's not necessarily needed.
      I'd assume that the realistic procedure is to turn it on in cold weather :)

    I like this game but it's too complicated for me. I spent about an hour or 2 in game to figure out how to take off in a jet without crashing.

    • @MamboDCS
      @MamboDCS  Před rokem

      It does have a steeper than usual learning curve and requires a lot of practice. But, in my opinion, it's so much fun and I haven't had a game that I can spend so much time on like this one in years :)

    This isn't working, whenever I open engine cut off valve it just slowly looses RPM and the rotors stop (Edit; fixed it, i needed to cut off before the RPM levelled out

    DO NOT turn the laser on you do it only shortly before operations otherwise you will burn it out.

    • @MamboDCS
      @MamboDCS  Před rokem +3

      Just because you arm it doesn't mean that it is firing so it won't burn it out :)
