He couldn't bring himself to say it. But it finally clicked with him that his side has been using indoctrinated CHILDREN to fight against their own people with the hopes that his side will grant them forgiveness for a past they had nothing to do with. I think people forget that it's only been 100 years since the Eldian Empire fell. People still talk about colonization and slavery in the USA today (Lupe was joking at the end, but he made a good point). After 2000 years of ruthless tyranny, of course the world would react harshly. Do we not remember what happened to Germany after WW1?
That's why Magath talks the way he does, as his father (maybe) and grandfather (definitely) lived during the Eldian Empire. It doesn't justify his part in Marley or his words, but he's literally a generation, or 2, away from the tyranny on a scale never seen before until now.
This series is so nuanced and realistic (despite the premise), it's crazy.

We didn’t really see much for Pieck. She was able to out Yelena and reveal her bullshit to everyone, but we never really saw Pieck talk much about her own concerns for her family back home, since she still has her dad who she wants to show a better world. We don’t know how she feels about having just lost Porco, her closest friend, and Colt, one of the candidates she cares about. Surely Falco or Gabi would have told her. She cares about the kids we don’t know what she thinks about them dealing with so much themselves. We didn’t see any reaction to Gabi’s breakdown as she protected Reiner, or Reiner’s apologies to Jean, etc. We’ve seen her do plenty in battle and we know she already doesn’t trust Marley, but we don’t really know how she feels about the current events on a more personal level. I hope we get some more character development for her. MAPPA already basically revamped Porco’s character, maybe they’ll do the same with Pieck especially since she’s still alive.

That's why Magath talks the way he does, as his father (maybe) and grandfather (definitely) lived during the Eldian Empire. It doesn't justify his part in Marley or his words, but he's literally a generation, or 2, away from the tyranny on a scale never seen before until now.

Marley sending titans to Paradis was the price they have to pay for peace? The world was already at peace when king Fritz flew to the island and made the three walls. The war ended in that moment. It started again when Marley sent Reiner and the others, and now Eren is going on with the rumbling after the whole world declared war on Paradis with Willy Tybur. If Eren didn't start the rumbling, Paradis would have been wiped out. Eren had to choose: the enemy (which is the whole world) or my friends and loved ones. Now he is going to destroy a world that was ready to kill innocent people, just because in the past their ancestors did wrong things, but they have nothing to do with all of that. The rumbling is obviously wrong, but Eren really couldn't do anything else if he wanted to protect Paradis, and it all started because of Marley. Eren is fighting for the peace of his people, Marley just wanted to kill the eldians because of their past

    1. Magath's point is that history matters and if it doesn't at what point does it stop mattering cause he can then ignore everything upto when Eren attacked Marley and frame his history how he wants but he then ignores the purpose of history as a lesson and uses it as a reason. Jean then points out that history long gone is not the same as history experienced and none of the people suffering today were responsible for the suffering long ago but he then ignores that that history is responsible for what is happening today and even if we say that it is what happened within his lifetime then someone like Gabi is right in thinking that the island eldians are devils.

Many people always forget: The Eldian torment of Marley didn't happen 2000 years AGO. It happened for 2000 years and WAS CONTINUOUS UNTIL JUST RECENTLY, which was 100 years ago when Marley finally defeated them. So of course the Marleyans would have a justifiable reason to be afraid of the Eldians. Magath surely had a grandparent or parents living in that aweful time so of course he would feel what he did. Plus, the King was also threatening them with the Rumbling which basically is a nuke threat even though he wont use it, but they dont know that. That said, of course its still not right what the Marleyans did. But it is understandable why they think like that. Many ppl be oversimplifying Magath character as just a salty Marleyan who still hadnt moved on from things that happened a long time ago, when the truth is, it was barely 1-2 generations ago, which is pretty recent.
Hange was right, its pointless to argue abt things that have happened when none of them were there. So the point of this ep was, they all did shitty stuff, but they need to let all of that go to move forward.

Hnage and the rest against genocide are not saying they want to lie down as they get wiped out, they wanted to attack Marley’s military spots with “partial rumbling” as a mean to demonstrate defense until they get further economic strength from international allies like the Azumabitos and those who hate Marley (who are actually a lot). If Eren played “cool” and did the plan they agreed upon (partial rumbling) then they wouldn’t stop him. But, as u may know if u r a manga reader, Eren’s motives were not only or mainly “to save Paradis”, this is a secondary reason, he has a pure selfish motive behind complete and utter genocide to “erase everything beyond the walls”. This psychotic fake image of “freedom” alone should be enough to not take his side.
Now, i hope it’s clearer to u how most ppl are not lunatics, so please kindly stop spamming how it is “dumb” to not support Eren, and just be happy how most folks are peaceful even if it’s regarding an outcome of a fictional work, this gives hope to the world.

Don't forget the higher ups were planning to feed Eren to somebody else, that's when the yeagerists acted. Eren did played it cool, but it's with Zeke's plan. No one but the Azumbabitos wanted to ally with them, which means they have no real outside support. If Eren didn't acted then Paradis would've been wiped out because of Hange's and Pykis's incompetence.
So that left with only 2 plans. Zeke's euthanization plan and then the partial rumbling of Marley. But, the whole world has been fooled by Tyber to eradicate the Eldians of Paradis and soon airborne weapons will be developed to easily combat titans and make them ineffective. To ensure Paradis survival, Eren must wiped out the outside world cause they left them no choice.
Eren have to wipe out the rest of the world. The whole world started the war with the same intent. They have no morals so why should Eren restrained himself with morals no one abides by. It is what it is, there are not going to be a happy ending with sunflowers by simply sitting around like a child and be like "but...but... genocide is bad". This is war, and Eren has won, not time to accept the consequences of starting this war for no good reason other than misguided fear.

This is the episode many people needed because many still have the misinterpretation that them joining forces to stop global genocide = Forgiving each other , which isn’t true at all

This honestly doesn't make any sense why Hange would even use that statement. If you don't support eren you support "genocide" on smaller scale. And if do support him then you support "genocide" on a larger scale. So... it doesn't matter what side you choose. You will still be supporting "Genocide". The only difference is the scale and reason for doing it.

@@byronicmaren2709 k , wasn’t arguing if they support Eren or not or ideals on genocide , but the reason they are joining forces is for their own selfishness and to stop Eren from killing everyone which includes their loved ones and to save the world, then joining forces doesn’t mean they forgive one another
