- He had the swagger of a hip hop rapper and the vocal prowess of an R&B balladeer. Montell Jordan burst onto the entertainment scene in the mid ‘90s and immediately rose to the top of the charts while also using his attention-grabbing height and good looks to create the image of a single and ready to mingle Hollywood heartthrob. He wasn’t single though he was very married and, before long, that false public image would lead to causing his wife immense pain and put their relationship in jeopardy. Creative differences with his label, money issues and the realization that his choices weren’t serving him well forced Montell to re-examine everything and ultimately decide to take his life in a more meaningful and spiritual direction.

In recent photos, he looks the same but his wife looks much older imo. He really took her through changes and it took a toll on her. Hope it was worth it for her but only she can decide.

I miss my friend, the late, Oji Pierce, who cowrote and produce the hit single, "This is How We Do It" with Montel Jordan, who I got a chance to meet (Montel) at the Grammy's Pre-party in the late 90s.

I listen to Let’s Ride everyday. It’s so interesting that he went from music like that to being a pastor. Unfortunately his talents went to waste but I’m glad we got to enjoy them when he was making music but I understand everyone has their calling.

From _This is How We Do It_ to _This is How We Blew It._ Interesting... Montell Jordan. I like Montell Jordan. I have a lot of warm and sunny memories attached to some of the song from his debut LP. That was a fun time because the LP released during the tail end of the 5th grade. I obviously love _This is How We Do It_ like the rest of the world, but my favorite ended up being _Somethin' 4 da Honeyz._ It feels like the Summer of '95. _Don't Keep Me Waiting_ is a good one as well. When I first heard Montell, I thought he was just another Aaron Hall knockoff. Good voice, but kinda been there done that. He can definitely sing though. And he's good live. Nah, his sophomore LP...no idea. 1998's _Let's Ride_ was my ish in the 8th grade. _Body Ah_ and _Irresistible_ ended up being my favorites. Lots of good memories behind that LP. _Get It On...Tonite,_ eh. All I know is that one song. After that LP, I don't know. I ain't even gon hold y'all. I simply don't know and I never bothered to follow up. LOL at Def Soul releasing his next effort overseas. Y'all know what that means. That means they were getting ready to phase him out of the mainstream music market. "Just relocate his efforts overseas and if they like it, great. If they don't, great." Shady ass music business. See, this is why artists quit because once you get older and phased out, yo' only option is the independent route and we all know how difficult and expensive that route is. Fans mysteriously forget about who you are and they simply move right on to the next one.
