    I loved L'Agence also! Watched Emily in Paris too but also cringed many times - just like you, haha. Your videos are so informative and engaging. It's obvious that you spend much time planning your lessons and we appreciate your effort. Merci beaucoup!

    First, being a long-time French “student”, having studied it from grades 7-12 and doing a semester in Paris (where my language skills really took off!), I love watching your videos for the more advanced learner. It’s great to remind me of some of the phrases and everyday usage that I’d otherwise start to forget. Overall, it keeps my French from deteriorating too much!
    I have two things to bring up. One. Say I were a beginner and had learned about the nasal sound when a syllable ends in a-i-e with n/m. Seeing immobilier written, I might try to pronounce it “eh(ng) mo-bee-lee-ay” (if I didn’t already know better). I was racking my brain if there was some rule, but maybe it’s just an exception? Two. Gueule…I recall the reason it’s because it refers to an animal’s face and thus insulting and crass.
    Thanks, and keep up this great content!

    L'argence got me back to learning french again! It sounded a lot like the french I had heard staying in french families.

    I have a hard time understanding spoken language because its too fast, can you recommend some kids shows? My great grandmothers learned English from Sesame Street.

      Others on youtube are "the little Einsteins", "Caillou" and "Mickey's playhouse". You have to spend a lot of time listening though. I'd read also to get vocabulary into your brain. Maybe do some listening to words lists that are pronounced with audio. Those are kind of boring but I feel you need to learn how words are generally pronounced along with their spellings. That took me quite awhile to get down, but once it gets into your brain, it starts to all fall into place. My advice is don't try too hard to understand or remember, lots of input is more important. Just relax, do pay attention, but trying to force it too hard actually works against you. Just accept the fact it takes a lot of hours, but once it starts clicking, it's a lot of fun. Think of it in terms of months. Ignore those materials that say things like "learn German with just ten minutes a day". I hate to be a kill joy, but people need to be realistic about really learning a language to some decent depth, especially when it's living where the language isn't spoken, where you're only learning it at times you actually sit down to learn it. I do think jumping into full blown adult french dramas is too much if you are a beginner, though doing that some in the beginning doesn't hurt, just don't expect a whole lot as a beginner with those.

    comme j'aime beaucoup les mysteres ou plutot 'crime procedurals', je recommande: Candice Renoir, une series de 3 saisons. J'espere qu'il y aura un autre saison. Et tambien Balthazar.

    One construction I don’t understand or have seen is “Vous m’reteniez pour pas que je parte…”. How does end up meaning, “to not want someone (to do something)”?

      @Commeunefrancaise  Před rokem

      Bonjour,
      The "retenir" verb means to "hold back", so you were holding me back so that I do not leave, or perhaps more idiomatically, "you did not want me to leave."
      I hope this helps.
      Belle journée,

    J' adore "L' agence," très intéressant et pas difficile de suivre. Et oui, "they came from money" mais bon, c'est un show, un peu de fantasie, je le comprends. Je suis pas très "Emily in Paris," ahaha. la pire émission de télévision que j'ai jamais vue
