I'm from texas there are 3 types of kingfish all can be called whiting, northern, southern and gulf. Croakers actually make a cool croaking sound usually also. That looks like a southern one has the background stripe pastern. Squid will catch catfish, sharks and sometimes a drum mostly catfish though. If you want more fish like whiting rig with a small/er mutu light circle hook 1 or smaller(it can be tiny even like size 8 or 10 and use tiny pieces of fish bites. This works really good for taking kids fishing as the fish bites stay on and they will catch tons of fish. also good for catching some bait fish. Up the hook size for more eater size fish can do piece of fishbite with your shrimp or clams baits also would be good.

Hey man, I just wanna say thanks for all the videos. Like. All of them. From your gear that you use, to how to tie rigs. I've been using your tknot rigs and KILLIN' it on the NC coast with em. Nobody around me is catching fish except for me!! I throw 3 ft rods and I am learning to cast a 13 ft conventional for 8 and bait. Seriously man. I've learned a TON from you. Those double tknot rigs that you and your dad did a video on absolutely slaaaay! Everyone asks where I got them and it feels good to say, I made em and I learned how to tie em from HeySkipper on CZcams!! Bluefish, flounder just about everything hits on em. Thanks again man. I also wouldn't be able to cast these big surf rods if I hadn't watched your videos!!

Also, fresh dead shrimp or live, work really well on the surf.

The cats. Was 4-5 with my father in hatteras .73-74 ish. Was different back then. We rented a room over a little bait shop. A last minute thing. I remember sneaking a bucket of small catfish in & putting them in the rusty old bath tub .while I was bathing. Dad wasn’t to happy with it but he had to get a laugh eventually. They went back in the bucket & the ocean. Lived. One of my earliest memories. Same weather y’all were fishing too. Y’all enjoy.

I always air down! With deflators it literally takes 2 minutes. By the time I put the last deflator on the first is done! Takes as long as it does to walk around the truck! I go down to 18 lbs on my Tacoma. Also turn. off the trac control. Of course I do have the advantage that all the DE beaches have air stations. I've always been told to avoid 4W LO unless you're rock climbing or something

I'm from Corpus Christi Tx and I've always wondered how you would do fishing down here with the way you fish. If your in this area you have to fish the P.I.N.S. if your fishing the beach look for washouts in the sandbars to fish and live mullet is king for bait here. The driving portion has me messed up when you said head further down South for clearer water and by the video footage your driving North.

I dont think that salt is necessary for squids. No matter how big are they or small either. In Greece we usually use salt in order to conserve stale baits such as sardines and fishes that melt on your hands. With salt you lose all the juices of your fresh bait that feeds your fishing area.
Good videos, love from Greece and may you have always great catches !
