Thank you for not assuming that I know anything and that is a compliment. I recently bought the Mavic 3 and some of your colleagues talk really fast and actually think that a tutorial can be successful if they leave out certain parts of the procedure. I don"t care if you're just very patient or just very thorough, but thank you for very clear explanations in your videos.

Funny, how with mavic 2 series, for example, majority (with some great exceptions, which basically are go to tutorials how to di it) of drone youtubers talk about this options was not that important, gimmicks etc, now they all talk about it just to have some content out there. Personally, i find them biggest asset of the drone, since under right conditions, it can doo perfectly smooth shots, probably better than manual in most times. Poi is definitely one the most important ones and most importantly, all this movements are done in smooth, predictable path, which is vital for good cinematic shots. Skydio does probably better tracking and all that, but it is basically neurotic flying go pro with total unpredictable movements, small sensor (no low light applications or tracking), it is not foldable (since it needs perfectly balanced sensors) and it wiil also crash into small branches in winter or wires as any other drone (a lot of that kind of videos out there). if you're really into comparing this two, but in reality, it is completely different drone, imo.
One thing that users keeps forgetting, if we go into officials now, is vlos (which is mandatory in every basic drone regulations) at tracking etc. Officially, if you're tracking your self for example on your bike, car, boat etc, you re asking for trouble in public areas, not to mention risking a lot to have same crash etc, so also general hazard with this kind of use of drones. This i really find hazardous, when seeing people use skydios etc (but it also not that good with other ones) tracking them on e-baords, bikes etc where drone flipps side to side of the road completely randomly. I saw in many videos drone switch to other side directly of incoming car etc.
So, please, be careful with this kind of use in public areas, follow the rules, read the manuals (this is all covered there, it is good idea to take a look, also for other stuff, drones are complicated machines and you need to know a lot before flight, to be safe). This is the only way they don't put out even more dramatic drone legislation that already is out there, or even ban the whole thing..

I was doing a low and tight POI around myself the other evening. Maybe 3 meters from me, full speed, whipping around. Walked around and it stuck like it was on a string. Then I moved fast and got too close to the Mavic 3 BOOM. It stopped. Hard. Thinking, that's not so good, I took a step back. Whoosh, off it went again. Repeated this a few times. I love it. Safety first. It really is getting good, and it's early days. On any visual based tracking, the sheer number of calculations happening here is staggering.

  • @bobbyanderson6313

When I use POI I’ll use the right joystick to push the drone closer to the subject. When I let go of the joystick for some reason the drone backs away from the subject a little bit, making the video not look as smooth. I never had this issue with the Mavic pro 2. Does anyone know how to fix this with the Mavic 3?
Also with the Mavic 3when using the POI and using left joyStick to go up and down the drone is wayyyy more slow going up and down than the Mavic pro 2, making me almost hit trees. Any advice on fixing that too?

Honestly I do not like the new POI algorithm in Mavic 3 as it follows the shakiness of walk which makes video shaky. Air 2 and Air 2S do not have this flaw and they actual smooth the shakiness of walk. DJI has to put more effort into fixing FW of Mavic 3 to justify its price.

Looks like this my next testing session at the park. Suggestion for an episode - How to fly a Video Grid when the software isn't made for it. We are using Mini 2 and A2S for search and rescue, as well as others, and it's been a challenge to cover an area thoroughly. I've sort of created my own method of flying that does a reasonable job, but would like more consistency, and especially able to reconnect to my last point when I have to change batteries. Hoping Litchi, or ?? will make it more effective.

Question for you, is there a certain distance that the drone needs to be for the orbit? I am a photographer and people really enjoy 360 photo booths. I wanted to see if it was possible to get the 360 photo-booth effect but using a drone. It’s just simply easier to carry a drone around that a full booth.

the two bad thing about DJI is 1) They bought large stocks of hasselblad which makes them able to controll that company to some degress, which allowed them to mark the Mavic 3 camera as an "hasselblad" when its clearly not. so you pay extra for the drone, its a marketing pr since hasselblad only makes large DSLR cameras and not small things like a drone camera. 2) They are Chinese brand, which means they have to follow Chinese laws. That means the brand can be forced to spy if the military (owned by CCP) tell them to. Which means, the brand is at risk to be blocked in the west.
