It wouldn't hold people in unfavorable positions because their health care is tied to their employment. Medicare for all would take daily stress off Americans. I'm still mad at Hilary for screwing him out of running. I'm pretty sure he would have done much better than Hilary because people already didn't like her just like they didn't like Trump when he first showed up, but due to Hilary being a shitty option it became a lesser of two evils and realistically without having Hilary serve a term as president, we don't really know who would have actually been the worse President.
He insists on some very unpopular positions, though. I understand that he stands by his convictions, but ultimately he still does have to play politics to win big elections. But he can stand by any position he wants to and he will still win his Senate seat.

As someone who considers myself more moderate on some issues, I don't always agree with Bernie, that being said, I have a huge and tremendous amount of respect for him. His integrity is next to none, he has been speaking on the same issues for decades without wavering. He is modest and speaks truth to power. He is also still incredibly sharp mentally. I have for most of my adult life thought of myself as a textbook conservative: I believe in balancing the budget, staying out of foreign wars and securing our borders...all of those beliefs relative to the circumstances. So I should despise Bernie, but I find he makes a LOT more sense than the purported "conservative" people on The Hill. And Bernie absolutely gives a damn about that vast array of Americans whom the current system has passed by (and continues to do so). I am comfortably retired and have been for over 30 years, but if the government required that I pay more in taxes to help those less fortunate, I would do so without hesitation. And it truly angers me to see those "conservatives" stand up and talk about defunding or crippling the IRS. Just where do they think the money for their salaries comes from? I'm also a veteran of 26 years in the USMC, and I'd love to see a genuine audit of Pentagon spending. The money we save on Defense could be spent on schools, child care, libraries, public transportation and, yes, the IRS. Like Nike said, "Just Do It!"
I don’t think you’re really a conservative. You cite balancing the budget and reducing the deficit. Clinton had three consecutive budget surpluses, the first time that had happened in 50 years. By the end of Clinton’s first term, he had reduced the deficit 25%. No republicans balance budgets or reduce the deficit. Staying out of foreign wars? I can’t remember a time when there hasn’t been a Republican waging war. And securing our borders? There have been record border apprehensions during the Biden administration. That means the border is more secure, and while many are still getting in (because the system isn’t perfect) many more people are NOT getting in.
Tbh, all those ideas are left wing tenants, except securing the border. Which isn't even 100% true because even some people on the left think that the southern border is becoming a little bit of a problem. And everyone on the left hates the housing market being bought out by foreign investors. Which to be fair maybe a bit bipartisan. The solution to the problems are just less insane and inhumane. For example, the left wants to starve out the drug cartels then work with the south to stabilize their economies so all the people at the border WANT to live in their area, and stop risking children's lives trying to cross over. The left also wants an actual system of processing people, that isn't f*cking insane like we have now. The right at the moment wants to bomb Mexico, and finish the wall. (Also this isn't like the left when speaking about any specific politician, this is the left as in the overall ideology, I don't think any politician wants to do what I propose at the moment unfortunately, but if we are going by general world humanitarianism, that would align more with the left. I guess Biden recently signed the "help Workers in Brazil and America" thingy so if you want to look at any politician, or policy going in that direction there you go) The worst part is that America is the reason we have the problem in the first place it is all "personal responsibility" and "consequences" until that "personal responsibility" of not creating coups, putting in sanctions, and funding drug cartels, has the very obvious consequence of people from South of the border not wanting to live in the mess America created. Instead we want to hack saw murder people at the border, and take the scraps for slave labor, instead of idk, fixing the mess we created? As a homeless couple in a small town, we work on Mutual Aid and building community. A " just do it" approach. We talk to vets regularly, learn alot too. Much needed inter-generational learning. What we REALLY need is major emphasis on HEALTH: physical, mental AND spiritual. How can we kick start a program? The process will take years, but the dividends will MORE than pay for the efforts. I remember being so disappointed in 2016 when Bernie was pushed out of the race. I told my cousin at the time he was the only honest person in the race.
I have a whole bunch of chronic, disabling conditions simply because our medical system has dropped the ball for my whole family over and over again, thanks to big companies dictating everything and being dishonest. My brother and I are unable to work at all; but we would be able to if we hadn't been screwed over by the system so much. We need proper medical systems that work so that people like us can actually work and not have to suffer under horrifying conditions every day of our lives. It saves both money and human misery. Many thanks to Sanders for being the rare politician to actually try to do something so others like us can be productive and not have to suffer.
In my experience, chronic and long term illnesses are never handled well via US healthcare regardless of how rich you are. The US is great at treating acute illnesses and situations if you have the money, but anything that falls under chronic illness, which is the majority of what americans get treated for, then the ball of responsbility is always thrown to random pharmaceutical companies. Are you diabetic? The doctor's not going to tell you to avoid carbs and sugar and eat a ton of salt. While this advice would likely cure the majority of diabetes patience, the doctors are instead economically incentivized to push a prescription on you. Diabetic? Oh that's not cureable (flat out lie). We're going to use your insurance to get you an insulin subscription so I can get PAID. Tell me what illness you have, and I likely know the most reasonable and effective means humanity has for a cure. Wanna cure cancer? You can do it via Apigenin, which is most abundantly found in parsley.

Wow!! This is huge! The story of Community Health Centers (and Bernie's historic role in expanding them) is the most under-reported story in modern politics. I think he would have won the 2020 primary if it was more widely known. His campaign should have produced a short documentary about it.
This just got passed by the Committee in the Senate. Now it has to pass a floor vote in the Senate, where the Republicans have the power of the silent filibuster, and then pass in the House, where the Kaos Klown Kaucus has the majority. It’s not going to be law until after the 2024 election, and then only if voters get Biden back in the White House and majorities in each chamber, including enough real Democrats and progressive Independents like Bernie to reform the filibuster.
The whole trouble with the health care system is it is one of the two things that should never be "for-profit." The other is government. As to that, I plan to study exactly how and why any corporate industry (such as the pharmaceutical industry) can have such a huge influence over our government. This issue is at the heart of our democracy. They, literally, have the country in a choke-hold. I don't understand how it can be allowed or why it has never been addressed. But, somehow, it must end. Until it does, there can be no significant improvement to our situation. WHEN it does, we may actually have a fully functional government that will do as it is intended: Serve the people.

Superb keep up the good work. I am an American living in Europe where I enjoy free national health, and cannot express how wonderful this “socialist” system is. My mother was effectively killed by the USA health “system”. When my father had a accident while visiting me in Scotland, his first words to me when I visited him in the a&e were “sorry to burden you with this bill”. When I told him the cost was nothing he first couldn’t believe it then virtually broke down in tears profusely thanking all doctors and nurses and staff to an almost embarrassing level. Why would anyone not want this??

They KNOW that it's nothing like what the USSR had, what North Korea has, etc., but that's what they equate it to and it frightens people who get their MAIN or ONLY source of "news" through these outlets. They are also taught that anything like this would be "hand-outs," or would raise everyone's tax exorbitantly. And they will vote against people who want to take us in that direction. I'm still mad at Hilary for screwing him out of running. I'm pretty sure he would have done much better than Hilary because people already didn't like her just like they didn't like Trump when he first showed up, but due to Hilary being a shitty option it became a lesser of two evils and realistically without having Hilary serve a term as president, we don't really know who would have actually been the worse President.
He insists on some very unpopular positions, though. I understand that he stands by his convictions, but ultimately he still does have to play politics to win big elections. But he can stand by any position he wants to and he will still win his Senate seat.

I have for most of my adult life thought of myself as a textbook conservative: I believe in balancing the budget, staying out of foreign wars and securing our borders...all of those beliefs relative to the circumstances. So I should despise Bernie, but I find he makes a LOT more sense than the purported "conservative" people on The Hill. And Bernie absolutely gives a damn about that vast array of Americans whom the current system has passed by (and continues to do so).
I am comfortably retired and have been for over 30 years, but if the government required that I pay more in taxes to help those less fortunate, I would do so without hesitation. And it truly angers me to see those "conservatives" stand up and talk about defunding or crippling the IRS. Just where do they think the money for their salaries comes from?
I'm also a veteran of 26 years in the USMC, and I'd love to see a genuine audit of Pentagon spending. The money we save on Defense could be spent on schools, child care, libraries, public transportation and, yes, the IRS. Like Nike said, "Just Do It!"
I don’t think you’re really a conservative. You cite balancing the budget and reducing the deficit. Clinton had three consecutive budget surpluses, the first time that had happened in 50 years. By the end of Clinton’s first term, he had reduced the deficit 25%. No republicans balance budgets or reduce the deficit. Staying out of foreign wars? I can’t remember a time when there hasn’t been a Republican waging war. And securing our borders? There have been record border apprehensions during the Biden administration. That means the border is more secure, and while many are still getting in (because the system isn’t perfect) many more people are NOT getting in.

Tbh, all those ideas are left wing tenants, except securing the border. Which isn't even 100% true because even some people on the left think that the southern border is becoming a little bit of a problem. And everyone on the left hates the housing market being bought out by foreign investors. Which to be fair maybe a bit bipartisan.
The solution to the problems are just less insane and inhumane. For example, the left wants to starve out the drug cartels then work with the south to stabilize their economies so all the people at the border WANT to live in their area, and stop risking children's lives trying to cross over. The left also wants an actual system of processing people, that isn't f*cking insane like we have now. The right at the moment wants to bomb Mexico, and finish the wall.
(Also this isn't like the left when speaking about any specific politician, this is the left as in the overall ideology, I don't think any politician wants to do what I propose at the moment unfortunately, but if we are going by general world humanitarianism, that would align more with the left. I guess Biden recently signed the "help Workers in Brazil and America" thingy so if you want to look at any politician, or policy going in that direction there you go)
The worst part is that America is the reason we have the problem in the first place it is all "personal responsibility" and "consequences" until that "personal responsibility" of not creating coups, putting in sanctions, and funding drug cartels, has the very obvious consequence of people from South of the border not wanting to live in the mess America created. When it comes to foreign wars, I agree it depends on circumstance, I think America giving materials to Ukraine is fine, it also isn't like America is the only country helping out, and Russia already openly stated they are willing to get worse, so stopping them now, before things get worse for the world seems like the best call, especially when Putin is insane, is working with China somewhat, borders one of the Nordic countries that is now in Nato, that Russia openly stated they wanted to invade, and both China and Russia has nukes. Other wars that I know America is engaging in at the moment, I heavily disagree with, as well as funding Israel the barely an ally apartied state. I remember being so disappointed in 2016 when Bernie was pushed out of the race. I told my cousin at the time he was the only honest person in the race.
I have a whole bunch of chronic, disabling conditions simply because our medical system has dropped the ball for my whole family over and over again, thanks to big companies dictating everything and being dishonest. My brother and I are unable to work at all; but we would be able to if we hadn't been screwed over by the system so much. We need proper medical systems that work so that people like us can actually work and not have to suffer under horrifying conditions every day of our lives. It saves both money and human misery.
Many thanks to Sanders for being the rare politician to actually try to do something so others like us can be productive and not have to suffer.
In my experience, chronic and long term illnesses are never handled well via US healthcare regardless of how rich you are. The US is great at treating acute illnesses and situations if you have the money, but anything that falls under chronic illness, which is the majority of what americans get treated for, then the ball of responsbility is always thrown to random pharmaceutical companies. Are you diabetic? The doctor's not going to tell you to avoid carbs and sugar and eat a ton of salt. While this advice would likely cure the majority of diabetes patience, the doctors are instead economically incentivized to push a prescription on you. Diabetic? Oh that's not cureable (flat out lie). We're going to use your insurance to get you an insulin subscription so I can get PAID.
Tell me what illness you have, and I likely know the most reasonable and effective means humanity has for a cure. Wanna cure cancer? You can do it via Apigenin, which is most abundantly found in parsley.

Wow!! This is huge! The story of Community Health Centers (and Bernie's historic role in expanding them) is the most under-reported story in modern politics. I think he would have won the 2020 primary if it was more widely known. His campaign should have produced a short documentary about it.
This just got passed by the Committee in the Senate. Now it has to pass a floor vote in the Senate, where the Republicans have the power of the silent filibuster, and then pass in the House, where the Kaos Klown Kaucus has the majority. It’s not going to be law until after the 2024 election, and then only if voters get Biden back in the White House and majorities in each chamber, including enough real Democrats and progressive Independents like Bernie to reform the filibuster.
There are few like Bernie, that remind me to being human. Not even a single word for McCarthy or Gaetz- exactly what they deserve.

The whole trouble with the health care system is it is one of the two things that should never be "for-profit." The other is government. As to that, I plan to study exactly how and why any corporate industry (such as the pharmaceutical industry) can have such a huge influence over our government. This issue is at the heart of our democracy. They, literally, have the country in a choke-hold. I don't understand how it can be allowed or why it has never been addressed. But, somehow, it must end. Until it does, there can be no significant improvement to our situation. WHEN it does, we may actually have a fully functional government that will do as it is intended: Serve the people.
Bernie, you are a rock star! The people who try to claim you're some kind of extremist have never listened to a word you've said, or, unfortunately, they don't care about anything outside of their own little circle/world. My mother was effectively killed by the USA health “system”. When my father had a accident while visiting me in Scotland, his first words to me when I visited him in the a&e were “sorry to burden you with this bill”. When I told him the cost was nothing he first couldn’t believe it then virtually broke down in tears profusely thanking all doctors and nurses and staff to an almost embarrassing level. Why would anyone not want this??

They KNOW that it's nothing like what the USSR had, what North Korea has, etc., but that's what they equate it to and it frightens people who get their MAIN or ONLY source of "news" through these outlets. They are also taught that anything like this would be "hand-outs," or would raise everyone's tax exorbitantly. And they will vote against people who want to take us in that direction.
