A Chinese Futur shave off. The QShave razor vs Ming Shi shaver.

- Äas pĆidĂĄn 31. 01. 2018
- Hello everyone. This week, I wanted to compare two razors, both of which are copies of the outstanding Merkur Futur. It was an interesting side by side shave. I did make a mistake, at the end of the video. I comment on the head cap of the Ming Shi shaver but accidentally call it the QShave, you'll see. That aside it went without any mishaps. đ
Have a very good week. Best wishes to you all.
Kind regards - Mark - Jak na to + styl
Thank you Mark for the comparison. It was very informative. I have the Merkur futur in both polished chrome and brushed satin and they are both EXTREMELY aggressive. They are both very heavy and that doesn't help.
It's probably fair to say you like the Merkur Futur đ I didn't know they made a brushed satin version. The one I tried was indeed very heavy, I thought that weight added to it's ease of use. It does practically fall off your face. I hope your well, have a good week.
Check CZcams for the way of making the merkur less aggressive.
It is something like pulling up the whole upper part and turning the handle.
One simple step once you check the video. No taking apart is included and as simply reversible
I have 2 Ming Shi 2000 razors one in use and another one brand new as a back up or gift. They do the job well and I recommend them to a newbie or seasoned shaver any day. Price wise they become a excellent razor IMO and they are fun to use. Your videos are excellent and relaxing(must be your soft voice) any ways have a excellent day in the UK from Canada.
Hello Canada! Now that's a big country. I wonder how many times Britan would it into Canada. They are great razors aren't they Ron, not least because they are an inexpensive. Thank you for the compliment. A few people have mentioned that they find my videos relaxing, perhaps I should branch out into relaxation exercises đ
Hi Mark- Very nice comparison shave today; thank you. I donât have either of these razors, but I do have a Futur, which is always a bit rough it seems no matter what setting I have it on. It is definitely not my favorite razor, at all. I can also agree with you on brush diameter size- the smaller size brushes in 22mm- 24mm size, both for natural and synthetic knots, seem to be just right. Larger knots that can cover one side of your face at a time when splayed are not for me. Be well, Mark, and have a great weekend and week ahead. All the best!
How disappointing, to find your Futur to be a rough shave. I have a two brushes to restore that I could with some modification fit a 24mm knot but I am pondering just putting a 22mm knot in. It seems to be a very comfortable and more manageable size, for me. I think if I used something like a 30mm, there would be soap everywhere! đ Best wishes to you and your family, Mike. Have a great week ahead. Cheers.
Great comparison video. I thought these were the same, I have the black Q shave also. I agree with brush size, I have a large brush and it don't get much use. Cheers.
I thought so too, until I picked them up together. They're not my favourites, I must admit but they still give a passable shave. You don't see so many little brushes - 24mm seems to be the in size.
This is indeed a very aggressive razor i can't go beyond settings 2 on this Razor.
Hello. Thank you for watching and commenting. I hope you are having a good week. All the best.
It is remarkable how two such similar clones can have distinctly different(or at least noticeable) shave characteristics. I was wondering how a head to head comparison would go between these two and now I know. Thank You. ;-)
You're welcome Keith. I was surprised at how different they felt although, to be fair, there wasn't a lot in it. It was interesting to compare them directly, I had previously assumed they were the same.
Nice video my friend. I'm revisiting some of your videos... great to rewatch some good stuff. I own a qshave, though a different model. I did just buy a ming ship justike that for 7eur!
Thank you my friend. 7 Euro is ridiculously cheap! Nice one. I have noticed that a few of the Chinese companies, now that they have become established, have put their prices up.
@@FriendshipShaving Yeah... I've seen an old video where this very same model you used costed like 20 bucks for the Ming Shi and 7 usd for the Qshave... Back then qshave was not that known. Cheers
Wonderful review!
Thank you mate!
Thank you, my friend. All the best đ
I recently purchased a off-brand Futur clone and I must say it works fantastic. The blade gap & alignment are spot on. The settings range from very mild to aggressive. Great razor for the price imo.
Hi. The Futur clones are quite well made and they certainly are a good razor. As you pointed out, the price point is superb. đ All the best.
Agree with your thoughts on shaving your neck. There are just some areas I have to accept aren't going to be "baby bottom" smooth unless I want to have sore skin for most of the day.
Yeah. Some people I've noticed seem to like being sore! I'm not one of them đđ
true that....realised lately
Thanks for the in depth review & comparison. I have a genuine Merkur Futur and enjoy it. I saw these clones & like the black color model. I think Iâll be happier with the Ming shi. Thanks for all the info.
You're very welcome. I was surprised at how much heavier the Ming Shi razor is compared to the Futur. It was a bold look for a razor when Merkur bought that out. All the best.
@@FriendshipShaving not sure what u meant there. I assume u meant how much heavier the mingshi is over the q shave no the Futur as the Futur is heaviest of the 3. I ordered myself a mingshi in black. While looking for a carrier/ pouch for it I saw another knock off Futur on Amazon that comes with a leather holster. I ordered that too haha. Iâll try it and if itâs nice enough Iâll give it too my dad. He will be mad if I bought him a genuine Futur saying it was too expensive for him. Iâll let you know how I like them. I cranked my Futur to setting 2 and it plowed through 7+ day beard like it was nothing! I donât see myself trying much over a 2 setting!
Hey Mark
Nice side by side shave.. ivfijd the razors to heavy.. that lather looked nice..
cheers bro
Enjoyed our. Hat tonight đđż... sorry for the overload đđ
Hey Billy. Thanks pal. It was good to chat; I apologise for having to end the call suddenly. I didn't realise but apparently I was almost shouting at the iPad. I'll try and speak normally next time! Thanks for understanding. Have a good week đ

Hey Mark bro..
Lol shouting I do that as well without notice..
I enjoyed our chat bro cheers đ
I have a mystery brush that's very small I got from my grandmother and it has a wooden handle. Don't know what type of brush it is but I've used it two times so far, and I'm starting to love brushes.
I love the vintage brushes. We can't get all the ones you have in the US, in the UK.
I met this woman on FB through one of the WetShaving BST groups and we have this arrangement going where I help her sell her WetShaving stuff. And for every $200 I sell, she either gives me $50 or a package of shaving stuff. Her husband is a collector and she also goes to estate sales and thrift stores to acquire Traditional WetShaving things... Last time she sent me with other things this Edwin Jagger Badger brush. It looks like it was only used maybe five or 10 times tops but you can tell it wasnât broken in, and on the Tips theyâre like curled so it feels like a boar in that sense but as all the other characteristics of a badger!!! I made out great on that one ! Lol đđđđ
You know they're made in the same factory right? QShave is just rebranded MingShi
No, I didn't know. You see, that is one of the reasons I love doing these videos. The depth of knowledge and interest that some of you guys have, far surpass my own and I get to learn all the time. I find it fascinating. How did you find that out?
Do the settings 'click' between numbers and any signs of rust/corrosion?
Is it true that Merkurs are not standardized and the shave setting is different from one razor to another? Would be interesting to know which one the Mingshi/Qshave was modeled after?
I have not heard that before Hani, but I doubt it; they are a well respected company and seem to have a very good name. The Ming Shi/QShave razor is modelled on the Merkur Futur which is a heavier razor.
Never heard that, they`re german so my guess is they`re all VERY similar from batch to batch.
Of course the different heads on the different Merkur razors will be different.
42c is a closed comb and probably the mildest razor I know of and the 25c is a more aggressive open comb.
Just mentioning since you didn`t know about the Futur, I thought you might be new do double edge razors :)
There are two setting on those like it has 12 rather than six settings squeeze the head like your going to take the handle off just to get pass the stop at six and it has another set of setting more aggressive
You're right Rachel, of course - you know that đ I discovered it myself, a little while after I made the video. I wouldn't want to use it on the highest setting; it looks like too much of a blade gap for me. Thanks for writing in and letting people know. I was just thinking of bringing the razor out again soon, for another video, so I'll be certain to mention the extra settings. All the best.
I dont know if the future is the same on that aspect seens no one ever tried the future settings and dont own one myself I just ordered the clone from wish
Yeah, no one talks about that. You'd think they would.
I got the one on wish for $11.00 it's now on ebay it a meco a33795 I cant find any info on it
A 30mm brush would probably be good for head shaves but seems like it would be a little too big for my face lol. I like the QShave but it's a bit large. As Flash Boredom put it, "it's like shaving with a hammer".
Shaving with a hammer!đ Yeah, it is a bit like that. A very amusing comment from Flash. 30mm would be good for head shaves wouldn't it. I wonder what the biggest knot you can get would be? I'm off to the Internet.
Hej Mark, you're absolutely right, brushes of 30mm n even more r lesser practible. My 1st brush I bought near Picadilly in London, some 30yrs ago. Kent BK12 with 32mm knot. For 15yrs I lathered that monster, far too floppy n the lather was all ovr myself. In a plane ovr the pacific I sat next to a gentleman fm Simpsons, he opened my eyes. Today my den mainly shows the BK12 (display, no more in use) n the remaining ones fm Shavemac, Simpsons, Semogue, few artisans (mostly Envy-Shaves), b u t the knots ranging fm 24-26mm. Those diameters the sweet spot for face lathering, at least for myself. On on, Mark n cheerio.
A 32mm knot. Achim, I'm sure I could put my whole face in a knot that large! đ That is quite a story, that you happened to be sitting next to a guy from Simpsons; I'll bet he knew a thing or two.
I think that 24mm is the biggest size I would be comfortable using. I've never tried a larger knot but I do have a brush to restore, it's really old; it refers to lime soap on the ferrule, which, apparently, was really hard to lather. It will take a 26mm. So, when I eventually get in done that will be my biggest. I have a couple of others to restore and might stick with a 22mm knot, rather than making the hole in the brush bigger, for a 24mm. I find whenever I use that little brush, it works really well for me. There are some very nice brushes out there that are too expensive for me but if I win the lottery my bathroom is going to look like a shop display of high end brushes! I enjoy reading your comments very much. Thank you. Have a good week.
Mark, I've spend too much on brushes, believing larger knots, larger knots shall do. They do, infact. Today, I'm earthed by doing myself. Buy the handle, the knot (Golden Nib, many others more). The loft y can regulate yrself, when glueing in yrself. The result: A better brush, much more as per yr own expectations. DIY..
Yeah, Mark, what a coincidence, the Simpson man. He actually was the purchasing guy for their hairs in China. He mentioned he did not understand the run for silvertip, as they just soft, but little facefeel. Himself he preferred the 2-band or Manschurian. In fact, most my badger brushes now are 2-band, I prefer the facefeel, what's going on. For high end premium brushes, I give the edge to Shavemac, slightly ovr Simpsons. To me, Simpsons pack too tight, Shavemac still vry tight, but btr flow. But there r so mny chances ouit there,m I must limit myself...
Oh that's interesting. I'll have to try a 2 band. I must admit that I like the synthetics more and more; they are such good quality these days, it's quite amazing. I don't like - the Portuguese company. Sorry, their name has gone right out of my head. Anyway, I find they pack their brushes much too tight. I've never used a Shavemac. I must admit, I hate to see a brush with branding around it. No-one ever comes to my bathroom to see which brush I have đ
Hmmm, the branding. The Simpson logo is glued on, I removed it. What remains is the name of brush, like 'The Duke' etc. Shavemac got a handle named 'Beehive', which has no logo around. The portuguese factory is 'Semogue', mainly for boar, but they also hv a 24mm 2-band badger with wooden handle of lathering qualities no less than Shavemac or Simpsons.
Do the number settings on both razors 'click' and is it rusting at all?
They don't click in between the settings like the Fatboy, Slim adjustable or Mingshi 3000s.
I'm not an expert shaving myself but I do know how do it right in a clean way. I've noticed you striked bare skin on your face without the shaving cream.....is that a good thing!?
Hi Ricky. That is a great question and you've really set me thinking! It works for me đ After the first pass on my cheeks, I find the soap's residual slickness is sufficient to allow me to make that additional pass, towards my ears. I doesn't cause me any irritation.
However, you make a very good point. It may cause confusion to a complete beginner. I always say that I only do two passes, but with that extra bit, it isn't strictly true. You really have set me thinking. Thank you for pointing it out. đđ
@@FriendshipShaving I think a lot of it is down to the residual slickness of the soap or cream as Mark says. Some soaps allow me to go over the soap-less area as slickness remains. As a rule though, I don't like going over areas without a covering of soap or cream.
Dave.
I have a very nice super badger brush but I find it is a little to big for me . I use it with cream .I get lather all over the place . But it is nice . When I use Lea soap ( i love it ) I use a smaller boar brush.
I'm smiling at the image, in my mind, of lather flying off the brush all over the place. I have not tried Lea soap. There are so many to try. I've gone off boar brushes a bit.
It is a good soap . ( Lea ) made in Spain. It cost a bit much for me and the puck is small but I found it on sale . I may go back and get another puck . Yes there are so many soaps and creams to try . Lol
Sir, I regularly watch your videos and like your analytical reviews, I have Q shave black razor but even on the setting six I just get a mediocre shave and also razor burns but with Merkur 37c or Parker 94r I get BBS shave with two passes, kindly review Parker 94r razor some time, thanks and regards,
Rajan Sharma from INDIA.
I'll try Rajan, but I will have to buy one first! Limited funds mean I just can't try every razor. I have a couple of Parker razors to try next year - I can't remember if the 94r was one of them. I will check.
@@FriendshipShaving Sir, I will send you one from INDIA as a gift, Parker razors are quite easily available and economical also over AMAZON INDIA.
The qshave razor originally came in sliver and it's just as good if not better than the ming, but the black qshave isn't that good for me. I like the color but there is something about that makes my shaves not that enjoyable.
Thanks Joe, that's very interesting and the more I've used my QShave, the more I'm inclined to think the same but I couldn't exactly say what it is.
I thought the soap was a take on Creed green Irish tweed (don't quote me on that).
It is Steve. Here's a link that was kindly forwarded to me. The scent ingredients are much the same (identical). It is a lovely scent.
www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Creed/Green-Irish-Tweed-474.html
Any chance the black QShave is made from a different alloy than the Ming Shi? My 39C weighs over 4 ounces, QShave silver 3.2 ounces or 90.7g, Ming Shi 3.5 oz or 99 grams. But they appear to be dimensionally identical. Using a different alloy does make sense theyâve cloned the Merkur Futur 4.4 ounces or 125 grams but they have to be sourcing different ZAMAC, donât you think? Probably a higher percentage of Aluminum. Perhaps it's just a different mix for that production run if "JM JM" is correct.
Your QShave silver is much heavier than the black, assuming my scales are reasonably correct. One assumes, in both cases, that it must be a different alloy. I have written to QShave asking for some information. We'll see if they reply đ On the QShave website, it states that their razors are made in America but the main focus of their site are cartridge razors.
Cool
What's the name of the brush ?
It doesn't have a name that I know of, it was an inexpensive brush that I believe was made in China. You might try looking on aliexpress, for a chrome shaving brush.
Which is better Ming Shi or Qshave?
Hi. It's a hard question as they are very similar but I prefer the Ming Shi.
I own Ming Shi razor $10 lazada awesome shaves like a baby
Nice one! That is cheap.
@@FriendshipShaving yes lazada gives out promotion if brought 2 only limited time 3am-6am sent out list of items on promo and it's a bargain price 2x $20 but there's plenty of models which we can choose price range $10-$100 depend on brand especially usa,German and Japan quite expensive double edge razor
Are they just not the same ? Same maker ? The Chinese ones .
Oh no đ They are manufactured in the same plant but owned by different companies and they have different specifications. QShave tel me that they put there razors through more rigorous QC checks. I think the black coating makes a difference to the shave. I found the QShave to be much more mild.
Its a right pain under the nose, i have the Ming Shi and managed to slice my nose doing it.
Ooh! Thankfully Larry, I haven't done that. Have you tried either coming in from the top and side, at a forty five degree angle or pushing your nose up with the top cap of the razor, while stretching your lip down, just to give you that bit of space to get going. Just some thoughts. đ
Had a similar experience with the black, but as I have a brushed chrome Qshave and Ming Shi (I'm guessing it's that, anyway ÂŁ5.22 on eBay) I may be comparing two Qshave! Bottom line was a slight disappointment in the black. I have tried side by side but the right side always loses because the growth pattern is harder to shave so takes three passes. Excellent point on brush size. The traditional badger brushes were never monsters. I have a 26mm synthetic and it's really too big.
On scents you have nailed the problem of a word standing for an abstract, unseeable and indescribable. It's a problem because to describe the smell in terms of another smell risks making them the same and simply does not work if the comparison smell is also unknown. I suggest you look up an edt you have, like the Paul Smith you mentioned, and see if you recognise the smells. And the try something else you know. I guess the best I can do is identify my smell preferences. So, I like vetyver, citrus, woody, musk a little, and rose. But, like you, most of the descriptions mean nothing to me.
ÂŁ5.22 on eBay! I was robbed đ I bought the QShave because I thought it looked good and I must admit to being slightly disappointed, like yourself. Still, never mind. I have a really old brush, that I need a 26mm knot for. It's a old HardRight brush and it's the biggest (knot size) I have seen on an old brush but I suspect, once I buy a knot and get it fitted that it will really be too large for me.
That's really good advice about the edt. Now that I have a good many samples, I'm becoming more interested in the scent aspect, purely so that when a soap contains vetiver, using your example, I might have at least some idea of what I'm buying. It''s all good fun though. I really enjoy reading, and replying to your comments, Chris. Thank you.
Could you not fit the knot yourself. Some epoxy two part glue and a CZcams video for guidance. I am going to try this with an old brush,; I steamed the old knot out. It's only an 18mm so hard to find a knot. I see someone recommended fragrantica.com which is another good site. I used the black Qshave today (AliExpress for ÂŁ11 plus ÂŁ3 postage - sorry!) with okay result. Maybe the blade was a bit past it. Great lather from an Omega 49 boar; a fantastic brush for
Yes, I'm thinking about Yaqi for knots but the minimum order is 500! I only want 10 or so, but the knots are very cheap, compared to buying from a US seller and paying $22 postage, not to mention customs duty. I'll fit the knot myself, it was bad phrasing that made it read that I would be getting someone else to fit it. đ
AliExpress.com has single knots from vigshaving and others. BTW using the AliExpress app on a mobile or tablet gets you 20% discount in many cases. 500! Must be the trade site. eBay also sells knots singly. Frankly, at the price Yaqi charge for a complete brush it's hardly worth the effort. I bought a really cheap knot for my old handle just to see how I get on.
I've been looking on AliExpress, some have a minimum order of fifty! Yaqi produce all the current popular knots. I just bought six vintage brushes, from the US. Not the ones I would have really liked, but quite nice brushes to restore. By the time I get them shipped; pay tax; buy knots and pay for them to be shipped because I haven't found anyone that sells knots in the UK. I might just as well have bought a Yaqi brush for $11! Hey ho đđ
For me the Ming Shi is quite aggressiv. Even if i go down to setting one i get razor burn if i make a bad move... And i can't feel the blade too...
I bought now the 33C, because of skin Irritation with other razors. The 33C Looks great untill now.
But i still don't give up on the Ming Shi. I Kind of like it...
I'm sorry to read of your skin irritation, Jens. I know a lot of men have very sensitive skin and have to be careful when they shave. Do you find that using a coated blade, either platinum or teflon helps? I think the 34c is the mildest razor I have used. The MĂŒhle R89 is also a mild shave and the vintage Gillette blue tip Super Speed was designed as a very mild razor.
Hi, thanks for your answer. I (re)started wet shaving at autumn last year (again). Because my electric razor gave me to much irritation. From there i used 4 different razors and a lot of blades. And, of course, my technique changed a lot... so... i can not tell what the problem was... But i realized that i get quick irritations (which stays over a week) with the Ming-Shi. Most times against the grain... Even in setting one, with different blades (Astra,Personna). So i searched for a mild razor and i got the 33C now which is almost like the 34C (different handle)as you know for sure. I did two shave right now and i am happy. I will try (later) if there is more or less irritation with coated blades. Thanks for the Tipps with the other razors. But for now the 33C should do it.
Greetings,Jens
Ah, the Astra and Personna are Platinum coated (i think). I like them both in the 37C (in which a get nearly no irritaion, but only if i work really well) but with both of that blade i will get irritation in the Ming Shi. ItÂŽs a shame because i really like it as a shaver (weight, look and so on) maybe i will try it later and it will be OK. Who knows.... ;-)
I had some irritation, some time ago now, which turned out to be the witch hazel I was using. Because of the irritation I started doing three passes all with the grain. I seem to remember that I had a quite acceptable shave without going against the grain; I still can't go against the grain on my face. I had a 33c at that time, I bought it second hand, in terrible condition but it shaved very nicely. It's a long journey we're on. đ
Do you find pre-shave makes a difference to your skin irritation? I must admit I can't decide.
I love my Q-Shave (Futur knockoff). Mine is not the black one though, it's a satin finish one.
Hi Jill, I hope you're well. It's a good razor. Let's be honest, for the price you can't really go wrong with it. I prefer the satin finish. I hope you're having a good week. Take care.
I ordered two QSHAVEs (one black, one satin) and was very pleased with them, so my wife stole the satin one from me and loves it! She said she always hated hair removal in her adult life, but since using this she hasn't cut herself once, no irritation, ingrown hairs, etc.
Brilliant! đ
I really like your videos but can you do something with the wallpaper ;-)
That made me laugh. The notification read: 'I really like your videos but'....
I was thinking you might say something negative, but not about the wallpaper đđ We're stuck with it for a while yet. Take care.
I quite like the wallpaper so leave it be
I really like your videos but can you do something with the sound . You are a bit hard to hear . Do you ever yell when young get mad ? Lol
I don't know what to do about it, apart from shout. That would be silly. Am I hard to hear when you turn the volume right up. I've tried that on my iPad as a test and it is quite loud. What are you watching the videos on. I have tried (just) plugging my iPad into the 'aux in' port on my radio, so the sound is played through the radio speakers. That works.
I just watch the videos on my tablet . There is another shavers from Wales. A bald guy . So funny . He is really hard to understand. Lol PaulH is good too . Kevy Shaves I like . I have learned so much from you guys. Thanks . PS. Kensurfs a American guy is good too .
Ah, that would be Flash (Graham) from the Welsh valleys. I used to live not very far away from Graham, although I didn't know him then. All the guys are good. What I like is that there is enough variety for everybody. It's all very enjoyable.
That is the guy . I like him . It is funny all the wet shavers look like very nice people . Guys you would have a few beers with . DE shaving is something you need to learn . I think that is it .
Turn the volume up m8 ;)
Hey Buddy, those razors are identical. Just a different name. Arenât they? At least thatâs what everyone is saying!
đ€š đ§ đ€â
No, they are pretending to be identical đ Hey Manny, I didn't think they were identical, except for the obvious shape. The QShave certainly is a much lighter razor, so it's either a different diameter or it's made with different material. I don't have callipers, but I'll try to look at the handle diameter over the weekend. I've just written to QShave and asked them if they are the same company as Ming Shi. It does say on their website that the QShave razors are manufactured in the USA. I'll let you know if they reply. Cheers.

Oh! I See đ€ Thanks Buddy, for the great information đđđŒ
:)
I always get a cut no matter what I do
Take it slow, mate. It happens to us all sometimes. Have you tried using a different blade; it can make all the difference. Derby blades always cut me! Without fail.
@@FriendshipShaving Exactly! I've always been afraid of Feather blades, but they turned out to be by far the most pleasant sensation for my skin. I had one cut in five years with the Feather. But my brother swears by the aggressive slant razors with blunter blades (like the Derby), and he never cuts himself. Different skins, different razors, different blades- you just have to try them! Luckily, it's a very cheap experiment.
Too true. It is strange how different skin reacts to different blades, even between brothers. What a perfect example!
For some reason I think the black or blue clones would have a perfect blade balance
Mike, I don't know what to write in response to that statement đ Enjoy your week, mate.
Both razors are made by the same company just with different names
I'm not sure they are, Mark but I'd like you to prove me wrong. On the QShave website the advertising for their Parthenon razor states: Parthenon is originally designed and manufactured by WEISHI and QSHAVE, which implies they're two separate companies.
The Futur style razors have slightly different dimensions and weight and I can't see one company going to the cost of outfitting their production lines to produce two razors that look the same but aren't.
Completely untrue. They're made in two separate facilities in different countries. They're different dimensions and weight, requiring different molds. Molds are costly. Sorry, but you're wrong.
Same razors
The QShave is a narrower, lighter razor that, according to the person at the company I spoke to, has more quality control tests on the production line. The QShave, I seem to remember is milder but, you're right: to all intents and purposes they are the same razor but I was curious and wanted to test it out.
Friendship Shaving
I have a few of both mine are the same but I'm sure some will be different
Oh! đź That's strange isn't it? Thanks for letting me know.
Friendship Shaving
No problem. Love your videos đ
You don't give up a patent. A patent expires as is the case here.
Thank you Nick, I'm always keen to learn a little more. Perhaps you might know what happens when a company files for a patent. I wonder if it is set for a number of years. Once that period ends, is that it? You can't renew or extend it?
20 years provided the patent holder pays the yearly maintenance fee to the patent office. After that, it cannot be renewed and the design is up for grabs by anyone. .
I really appreciate you letting me know. I think perhaps, like me, lots of people mistakenly believe Merkur allowed their patent to expire. It's good to have the correct information. I'll make another video soon with my Ming Shi so I can pass this information on, referencing your good self, of course. Nice one! đđ Have a great weekend. Kind regards - Mark.
I set this to 2x speed and it still dragged
Yeah, it's a little annoying when you get that drag.
Ha! He was talking about video speed set to 2x. Too slow⊠đ
