- Happy Lunar New Year! It's the perfect time to reflect on my fountain pen, ink and stationery goals for 2024. I'm embarking on a stationery no buy journey, slowing down, making space and focusing on the collection of inks I've amassed over the past 18 months. We don’t have any fountain pen stores in Raleigh NC! 😢so I really have to purchase online. These pen companies know what they’re doing because I watched new inks and I’m fascinated, of course and then I want them.

Great goals Liane. Lots of us seem to be curating at the moment. I curated my ink collection last week and passed quite a few along. I have been curating my pens as well, five went to new homes last year and so far this year three have gone to new homes, I think there are probably another two that will leave my collection. Sadly the pen I have had since being a child finally gave up and also went😢. That was my only fountain pen until five years ago! I wrote with it every day so it is hardly surprising that it got worn out. I have become very clear on what I like and don't over the last year so am now only adding things that I know I will love. I will only be adding one pen per year to my collection from now on as my husband likes to get me a special pen for our wedding anniversary so I am leaving the pens that I would still like to add for that. If I get anything myself it will be new nibs as there are a few I would like to swap out now that I have honed my tastes and there are a couple of inks I would like in bottles once I have finished my samples. Good luck with your goals and I hope that you enjoy your first pen show.

@@lianelikes it was a parker my parents bought me when I started secondary school age 11. It had a crack in the body for quite some time but had got to the point where it was leaking and so it was time for it to go. It served me well for many years.
Sounds like you have a good grip; good luck sticking to it. If I may ask, how many pens do you own and what is your downsized goal?
You have inspired me to committing to some goals:
1. Buy at very most 1-2 Sailors and 1 Franklin-Christoph.
2. Buy no ink or paper.
3. Do more brush & ink paintings, both to get back into brush work and to work at using up my excess inks.
4. Downsize pen collection from 40 to 24. I actually have little hope in accomplishing this goal in 2024.
5. Increase daily drawing/painting from 2hrs to 4 hrs.
Thanks for sharing some of your pen and ink goals! They sound great, though I'm shocked to hear that you're aiming to increase your daily painting from 2 to 4 hours!!! How do you make the time? You must be in the creative field!
@@lianelikes I'm retired, with plenty of time on my hands. For me the limits are imposed by powers of concentration, and energy.
Great goals indeed. I hope the savings you make from no buy might get you some cool stuff from the pen show or Japan. Japan is absolutely stationery heaven. 😅
I wish I could have gone to that 'assemble your own pen from all the colors' event held by Sailor in Japan. I wonder if they do that regularly.
