  • Go back to 1978 to see the origins of EPCOTs Space pavilion. See how Journeys in Space evolved, and how it was nearly built twice. See the Horizon connection, how Horizons nearly stayed with us and then how the building itself nearly stayed, and then see Mission: Space be announced, built and finally dedicated.
    Take a full tour around the exterior plaza, then a full tour of the queue and holding areas inside. Queue for the ride, see all the preshows, then experience the full ride with fullscreen, clear video and a new clear inride audio mix. Walk around the postshow area and gift shop, and see what changes have been made since 2003. Finally, take a peek in the HP VIP lounge too.

      I rode this once when it first opened. I wasn't sick on the ride, but I got sick about 15 mins after I got off. I remember sitting on the ground outside and just felt woozy as anything. After a quick puke (embarrassing to do in public, by the way), I just felt nauseous for the rest of the day. Even the "green mission" - when I'm in the briefing room - I feel a little dizzy and just opt out to not ride. It must be my body saying, "Dude! You got sick on this ride....remember? We're not doing this again!" LOL!

    I have a vivid memory of riding this ride over and over as a kid, sometime around 2008, and after like 3-4 ride throughs one of the cast members allowed us to loiter in the exit area with the bay doors open so we could see the carousel going around and around. I didn't really understand it at the time.but thinking about it now it was so amazing to see, but they'd definitely never let that happen now, there was nothing keeping my 6ish year old self from just running into the spinning cars lol

    I like this attraction and am fascinated by the technology used to simulate space flight. I just wish the attraction itself was as successful as the the front of the pavilion. It's a magnificent design.

    I'm surprised there was no mention of the original "Horizons" logo that can be seen in the center of the rotating "gravity wheel" inside the queue line. That was a nice little tribute/easter egg.

    Thanks for posting footage of the queue line's MISSION TO MARS set piece back when it used to actually rotate. I distinctly remember that from early on. Shame that Disney has shut it off permanently. I thought that was a cool effect.

      +Jake Ingersoll Since it is a centrifuge you have to look straight at the screen and not look away. As soon as you turn away you will get sick. Next time you ride try to stare at the screen and be completely focused on it and you will be fine :)

    Does orange go upside down? I only did green years ago as me and simulators don’t get along due to a bad experience at primary school. We were on a trip with primary school, a few days before I was asked if when we went on the trip did I want to go on the simulator, I asked what a simulator is and my teacher said it’s just a cinema you just sit in it and watch a large tv. I got on it and it started being jerky as I called it and I was in tears. When I got off I said Miss you lied to me, youtold me we just sat in a cinema watching tv. I asked days before exactly what it did meaning any movement and was told no moving.

    Have never been a fan of Mission space. The cabins are too claustrophobic. Never had a problem with the G's just the small enclosed space. Don't think I'll put myself through that again. Horizions I could do every time I went to the park. I wish they would tear it down and start again with something everyone could enjoy.

    Rumors are now speculating that the orange team side of mission space doesn't produce g-forces anymore, in other words the simulators do not spin throughout the entire orange team Mars mission.
    And so far, I haven't heard of another guest that might have got hurt or had died after riding the orange side of mission space, and I haven't heard of any people getting sick after that too.
    Actually found a video of the orange team simulators of the nowadays Mars mission of mission space, and on that video it shows that only the simulator cabins are moving just like the Star Tours simulators. But at some point in the final sequence of the Mars mission, they do make the simulators spin around. But not really fast like how they used to do it.
    Rumors are really speculating that the orange side of mission space does not produce any G forces, and that the simulators no longer spin very fast just like from before when it first open. But they will spin at some point during the Mars mission finale, and when they do spin they don't spin really fast

    • @xguitarist_
      @xguitarist_ Před 4 lety +2

      Nope that video was the green side, orange still uses the centrifuge as it always has and there is a very big difference without the spinning
      Source: I rode it two days ago, accelerometer says ~2.4G sustained
